  1. If this is for a frontend, and you plan to allow animation, then you're going to be drawing constantly anyway.

  3. How do you plan to store the user settings? cfg/conf? XML? Custom file format?
  4. Don't forget the prefixes must start with a disallowed character, such as ~. Otherwise you'll get people spoofing the prefixes.

  7. I was just wondering in all that 50mb+ of .net runtime are there no graphics libraries in there already? With XNA don't you have to pay MS to get your program onto the console? Even then is it publicly viewable?

    What I want to know is will old guncon 1 and 2 games work with the guncon3 controller? Since the ps3 has a harddisk and there aren't many guncon games, they could put something on it to patch the games as they load. This would be a good idea since less and less people have CRT TVs and the old games are still fun to play.
  9. I sometimes play Counter Strike: Source and if my ISP is feeling lame I play CNC Zero Hour against the computer. As you can see I haven't bought a new game for ages (well I have, but I don't play them because they are bad, punkbuster installs 2-3 services that run in the background even when you aren't playing the game, they even say it's malware in the license). Please post pics when your computer spontaneously combusts.

    The article I read made it sound like all European ps3's didn't have the EE (regardless of disk size), and the 40gb model didn't have the emulation software (or had it disabled, since I would think Sony distributes 1 firmware for all models).

    I heard if you buy a 40gb model today you can't play ps2 or psx games on it since they took some hardware out to make it cheaper to produce.
  13. I was making a BF2142 zone at one time and I made models for a Bandit (jeep) and a Nekomata (tank). I thought I would upload them if anyone wants them. As usual I'm no expert with blender so post if you can't see the textures. As for the zone itself there was a control point capture bug in the conquest module. Plus I couldn't decide on a nice way to code the unlocks system and lost interest.     The PS3 has or will get a TV tuner add on that will make it a DVR.
  19. I would go with DCME. I haven't used Quarks and I probably won't be for some time (I wonder if XP SP3 will force you to install .NET).

  21. Having played this a bit I'm not getting the full version. The game is in 3D with fixed camera points, it automatically moves between them as you walk around (a bit like watching a replay in a racing game). The graphics quality is mediocre, there don't seem to be any special effects in use. This is probably because it's supposed to have a cartoon look. Anyway, I am still surprised how much ram it needs to run, over 1gb. The Source engine runs fine on less and looks a lot prettier. The puzzles are ok, I'm sure if I use every item on everything else and talk to everyone I will eventually get through it. I wouldn't mind if it was easier, I'm more interested in the story than trying to figure out how I'm supposed to get past the next bit. There also seem to be a lot of dud items that don't do anything other than have a description. They might play a role in the other levels, but I doubt it. One thing that does seem certain is the 3 little guys you meet in level 4 are probably introduced properly in an earlier level.
