  2. That's a good idea for the rotator. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah... have an adjustable black edge remover... just have to make sure it doesn't replace nearly-black pixels that are 'inside' the ships... thats why I use the magic wand instead of the color replacer
  3. I always save as bm2... well i didn't do any lvz for a long time now... I thought that because the lvz compresses them, it would be about the same as png... but now that I read that bmp will use more RAM memory and all... bleh
  4. i've had this problem for a loooooong time... but never posted about it... i had this sucky CD drive... whenever I put a cd in it, the computer wouldn't recognize any data on it and would just show up as a 0 bytes cd in 'my computer' ; i had to reboot the computer so it could see the CD properly... well, it still had difficulty to.. at some point it couldn't do anything though... anyway... so i changed my cd drive (i needed a new one anyway)... it's a LG 52x32x52x16x CD/CD-burner/DVD player worked like a wonder for some time... but once in a while, i put a CD or DVD in it... and it doesn't show up on 'my computer' 's details display...shows up as a 0 bytes cd-rom... well, to be accurate, the label of the drive changes from CD/DVD Player when empty to CD Player when the cd-rom is put in... weird the DVD can still be played with PowerDVD, but gives tons of errors whenever you try to use the controls audio cd's can still be played through audio programs... but data cd cannot be accessed... so i have to close my session or reboot the computer... then it works.... If my drive wasn't new, I would have suspected it to be the problem... but I don't think it would be... the problem is similar to what I had with my old cd-drive... difference is that the old drive was getting worse and worse with time Any idea what could cause this?
  5. With standard black backgrounds it works fine. Where a background is needed, the edges become apparent... What I do is just open the final image in Paint Shop Pro, then use the magic wand with some tolerance on a background pixel, then make them all black... so the not-exactly-black and almost-black pixels become completly black, making them transparent
  6. have different sizes of maps... like small, medium, large, x-large like in most RTS games...
  7. larger maps aren't necessary... larger and more customizable tilesets are necessary ... a tileset in which we could define each tile's property... you could set all the tiles to Fly Over if you want... things like that
  8. actually the files are named ship1.bm2, ship2.bm2 .........ship8.bm2 or simply ships.bm2 if they're all in the same file

  11. most of the things that have been said are either stupid, impossible, or useless.... there are a lot of good ideas too, however... it doesn't hurt to dream....

  13. It doesn't take the specials/bounty you have to another arena.... It saves the specials/bounty you have in pub when you change arena, and gives them back to you when you come back.... it works fine and i also get specced most of the time when entering arena because of no data or high latency... allowsavedships puts you back in your ship after everything's loaded...
  14. someone said to bring back allowsavedships=1 ... the feature actually works very well. It would be nice to have different types of spawn locations... I mean that a 'insert' warp could bring you to a certain area, while a 'spawn' "warp" brings you to a different area, brickwarp, doorwarp, wormhole warp.... all those warp/spawn locations could be set independently, with a X-Y location and a radius, and possibly a diff. one for freq0 to freq3 , just like the spawn area works now. If possible, allow something like... 20 freqs' spawn location to be set independently, not only 4. All of this means about 100 new cfg file lines... but they could be optionnal... you add the lines you need, (like if you don't need 20 freqs, you just set the locations for , let's say, 2 freqs) ....Oh... about the wormhole....... if each wormhole could warp you do a different location, it could be nice... like, you set the warp location/radius in the level editor............ but then, it contradicts the setting mentionned above, where you could set a wormhole-warp location for each freq...... hmm All of this would make original events possible and allow more customisable arenas / gameplay... A customisable HUD would be great... you choose where to show your energy bar , stats box, etc. It could screw up some custom display made by arena makers though.... hmm... maybe have the possibility to allow or not custom HUDs... hmm...

  18. maybe it has been said before... specific turret emplacements on ship... for huge ships that can hold multiple turrets, you could board the ship at different points (side turrets, tailgunner, etc.) ... maybe limit the firing angle of each turret... allow friendly fire (guns FF on/off , bombs FF on/off , friendly splash damage on/off) ......wow...... if 'every' thing in here could be done (ok... maybe not 'every'thing... but at least the good ideas ) it would allow ALOT of customized gameplay... but have to keep in mind it cannot be too complex... i.e., you can't just add 135 other new weapons... have to keep the controls usable... one way to use multiple weapons without using 14516 different key bindings would be to have 1 or 2 'secondary' weapons bays, and toggle the available weapons into them. Actually... they would be '3rd' weapon....... since primary=guns, secondary=bombs as for allowing 3d ships... i'm not sure... this would require a 3d engine.......... it would be great to have something to convert 3d models into ship#.bm2 and ##roll.bm2 though... but the game would only use bitmaps directly (or png's, whatever) a simple cool add-on: instead of having only a yellow dot to represent yourself on radar, make it a small arrow... piloting while checking only radar would be easier, the enemies could also be represented by arrows... this arrow graphic would be, of course, customizable
  19. heatseeking mines.... when you get close to them they start going your way... with a certain acceleration and top speed, also dependant on the distance between you and the mine ; if u move away from it before it catches you, the mine just stops there and waits for another opponent.... tractor beam ô.o ...... kinda like a negative repel... but.... cooler i guess... would work in only 1 direction..... ......... escape pods! .... woot....... then you tractor up your friend's pods to let them respawn.... or you have to drop them somewhere ... and meanwhile they can be a turret... or something like that... cargo bays! get stuff in cargo... could be... probes... (woot, each idea i get gives me another one) or you could store some spare batteries to have a quick recharge rate for a limited time... drop unwanted cargo... maybe trade cargo ... a teamate could tractor in a cargo you droped. The more cargo you have onboard, the slower you are.... Probes! you drop them, and they provide X-radar cover for all the team in a certain radius...... could also make each ship's x-radar radius different.......for example, one ship could have a very short range xradar... it would see cloakers when they are at XXX pixels or nearer from them. Probes could be destroyable... have a certain energy / recharge rate..... maybe some basic weaponry....... Turrets that you drop and they shoot stuff... kinda like shooting bots..... you could mount / unmount them and have them in cargo bays... they could defend Probes..... ...... oh well i gotta go now.. enough of these.. wee

  25. Afterburner fuel, Weapon energy yeh that would add ALOT of customizing possibilities... just need an option to enable 'linking' two or more of those energies for those who want to use them normally..
