  1. hey, we're trying to make the ultimate map editor here... that means it will eventually even be able to make some coffee to keep you awake while you make your map. that also means it probably won't be finished by 2045 and will still be worked on by 2 crazy old men.
  2. ok... default A-Z from tile 1 to 26 then, what I had in mind was: a form in which you see the tileset ; you select the character, and then press the key you want to assign it to. bam, it's done. Useful stuff that would speed up things: Use arrow keys to move through tileset quickly ; When you hit a key, it would automatically move the cursor to the next tile ; same thing when you hit space Enter would move you down And most of all: Select multiple tiles at once (just like when you map), and then hit the key representing the first tile, and it will assign the next tiles to the next keys. For example, you select a group of 6 tiles representing letters H to M First tile in selection would be !@#$%^&*igned to H, 2nd to I, ... you get the idea The form would need to show a preview of each legal character ; like: A: [ A ] B: [ B ] C: ???? D: [ D ] ... Z: a: ... z: 0: ... 9: other characters: like: . , ! ; : " ' .... there's a lot of them and honestly, making all 255 ascii characters available isnt harder then allowing only few of them. Actually, it will be harder to limit the use of certain characters ; some characters just aren't supposed to be visible (space, enter, esc, etc.) thanks for the tileset by the way ; i'll use the tileset editor to add special characters to it That's kind of what I had in mind....... I HATE PAINT

  4. woot i can "write" tiles.... that was the easy part just got to assign tiles to characters now
  5. i'm already stuck... I can't draw a transparent GIF for the toolbar icon ... I got only Paint lol I'll do that later then... If someone has an ABCDEFG... tileset, attach it here I'm too lazy

  7. i've been thinking about this for quite long too... i guess I was too lazy to do it... I actually thought the TextToMap feature would make people happy enough oh well...
  8. im no expert, but I'm guessing that would be something relatively easy to do with ASSS, using regions and stuff you also have to keep in mind that you can only have up to 8 distinct "doors", dunno if that's a problem to you... and I wouldn't wait for that plug-in too much... it seems the bot coders are pretty rare (and / or busy) these days
  9. it would be nice if it archived stats each week or something... so you could compare the population each week in a given zone or order someone to take screenshots of every zone's pop each wednesday at 0:00
  10. who cares which language is used... as long as it WORKS and you won't even notice the difference

  12. weird.... as drake said, check the saved file properties to see its size ; if the file really has no data at all, it should be 0 bytes. Does the tileset saves?
  13. While you are in spectator mode though... I don't know why ô.o Also, some zones or arenas may have a minimum number of points required for your banner to show, but that's rare.
  14. Yeah... I wanted to do that... but I guess I forgot about that... Drake do it now that getcursorpos works, it should be pretty easy

  18. 3D ship graphics would definitly improve ALOT the graphics quality... However, making shipsets would be more complicated a bit for most people. Some people suggested a 9th ship... but why not make the # of available ships unique in each map? If you want a map with 32 different ships, go ahead... misc:numberofships=32 so you could create a map in which there are huge space battles , with capital ships, bombers, fighters, alien invaders, name it... (I'm thinking about FreeSpace2 while writing this...porting FS2 ships to SS would own)

  23. technically, it's my dad's pc ... though I payed the new hard drive, cd/dvd drive and graphic card... I'll probably take these back when I get my own pc
  24. I did install continuum on a school computer, it was on a network drive (T:), and the program worked fine... the problem was the ports being blocked... no way around that
