  1. I'm with sever on this one. Theres most definitely not a gene that clearly defines, black-and-white, whether your gay or not. Altho Aileron, gene studies find stuff that causes mental illnesses and such to run in families, so genes don't only cause physical attributes.
  2. Yea I met a mexican family with a story like that on a mission trip to a christian orphanage I was on a few summers ago. Theyre baby has some sort of tumor in his brain, and has all sorts of xray records and everything showing it. The morning of the surgery they went for one final xray, had been like a few weeks since the last one, so they wanted a image of how it was At that exact moment before surgery. They took the xray, and there was nothing there. Even trace chemicals that usually remain in the blood for months after a tumor is gone were not present. Kinda creepy about the best at gathering information thing with the osama example. That could be a major Newsflash to those who say radical christians are as bad as radical muslims. If the catholic church has that much power but has not used it, shows the constraint the christians have as compared to others.
  3. I'll hypothetically assume that him being on sysop.txt and all that was to his knowdlege and with malicious intent. The keq question I'd ask myself is, how much would we suffer if we lost him? If he had any real skill in the development he was putting into the zone, I probably would not want to axe him. However something obviously has to be done, and I'd probably consider removing bot powers for some time, putting him on full suspension (no powers until w/e date you choose), or just demot e him (but if hes a mod I guess he can't go any lower). Id probably bring in some of the players he kicked into a priv arena with me and him, and talk about it with them. How they felt about his actions, tell them his value to the zone, and ask them whether or not they think he should stay. I guess I'd go to this trouble because at this point, the problem is really looking bad to the public. You don't want to keep him and look like you allow abuse, but you don't want to get rid of someone who offers real benefits. That's why'd Id ask the players he wronged for opinions.
  4. Yea some support. That's why my church doesn't baptize people as babies. They only want you to be baptized when you can knowledgable make a commitment to the faith as a adult or young adult (youngest I've seen them do is 15 years old).
  5. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/res...0/epolls.0.html 59% of protestants voted for bush. 52% of catholics voted for bush. Theres also one part that says "Most important quality" of the candidates. 8% of people said religion, which fell lower than Cares about people (9%), Honest/Trustworthy (11%), Strong leader (17%), Clear Stand on issues (17%), and Will Bring Change (24%). One category had less percentage than religion: Intelligence (7%) by one percent.
  6. I thought he wanted a link to the article. I thought the article was from the Washington Times, but doing a few searches in their online archives I can't seem to find it And I brought this up because I wanted to know if anyone else has an idea why or what role thousands or dollars needs to play in him becoming a saint, there may be stuff I don't know because I'm not catholic but it didn't make sense to me.
  7. Yea today people don't think that their money will get them to heaven, but during the middle ages THAT WAS THE CASE. They were sold as if they get rid of all your sin and get you to heaven. They were one of they key factors that inspired Martin Luther to write his theses (plural). Yea your right money could help in keeping video records and maintaining the site for a bit, but im talking thousands and thousands of dollars that they got saying it would MAKE HIM A SAINT. The catholic church has plenty of money to run a website with some fancy interactive junk. Just gives an impression of being fishy.
  8. Well from what I know, the money given to traveling priests for indulgences was not in turn given to other purposes. There were like specific priests who made this their job and they kept the money for the most part I think. I still think its noble to give money to charity even though I'm protestant, we all do. We just don't think that deeds alone are able to get us to heaven. I have nothing against the video taping for miracles, although I think its a weird requirement to become a saint, but w/e. Yea xter when I have some time I'll try to find the article in an online-form. In general it was a good news-piece, there were just bits and pieces of it where i was like "ARE U KIDDING?" It was because they said things like the money was needed to aid the process of him becoming a saint. I fail to see any correlation between having money and reaching a holy status.
  9. As cool as the idea of one continuous base sounds, wouldn't it get repe!@#$%^&*ive? Also say my team has it in sector 4, and your team comes along and beats us, picks up the flags, whats going to stop them from staying in sector 4 and neuting? I'm not sure how you could force the team to start back at sector 1. I mean you could warp them all there, and block off parts of the base with doors, but by warping you risk doign stuff like warping them into the invading team, whos already moving through sector 1, and stuff like that. Double post, had another thought and didn't want to edit old post. What if you keep it being one base all the way around, but you had 4 entrances. One at top, bottom, left and right. Looking at your image, that means from each entrance you could go to two bases. This also means your base might have to be defended from two sides at once, and you could move from base to base in really unique ways. Even the part you enter, would still have to be baselike, meaning complex tunnels and turns and stuff, it would just be a thinner area connecting two main bases.
  10. I read an article about a week or two ago, but I donno what happened to it so I can't quote it... Basically in the struggle to make John Paul II a saint, some catholic church-sponsored group made a website to promote the idea. The site includes a 24/7 live video feed from his grave because I guess to become a saint you need to have two (i think, im not catholic) miracles attributed to you even after your dead. If you guys heard about this image of the pope waving in a bonfire thing, maybe they'll end up counting that, who knows. ANYWAY, the site focuses on asking people for money to aid the process. Saying that the more funding they have they should be able to make him a saint more easily. That sound like a load of crap to any of you? Because it does to me lol. Why do you need money to have a bunch of elders give John Paul II their approval to become a saint? Or what doesn money have to do with him "Creating a miracle from beyond the grave?" Kind of reminded me of selling indulgences in the middle ages. If your not familiar with what im talking about, the catholic church actually said people could "Buy" tickets to basically rid their sins and give them passage to heaven, and this is when the Protestant reformation started with Martin Luther and all that. As if money is what it takes to get to heaven. Kinda startles me that tons people funnel money into this website in the same kind of mindset. What in the world can their money be accomplishing?
  11. The trick is your saying MOST. If you've ever taken a logic class it's one the the initial things you learn that these relationships do not inherently go two ways. Anyway, you saying Most christians are republicans also hinges on another factor. Sever, your definition of Christians includes problem twice as many as I would consider real Christians (you said % of the country is christian). If only looking at the people I would consider genuine christians, you may be correct saying the majority is republican, but with the people you're considering christian you're definitely not. As of 2004 election data, only 23% of voters considered themselves "born-again" or "evangelical" christians. Obviously we could add or subtract as much as 10% because of this being a loose definition, but the point will be the same. Of those 23%, 78% of them voted for bush. 78% of that 23% means that 17% of the country, are people that I would consider christians and voted for bush. I don't know abotu you, but growing up in my area at least, if you were asked what religion you were of, and you were not jewish (area around washington dc has a lot of jews, I'm 30 mins from DC) you probably considered yourself a christian. Those people would celebrate christmas, and the majority of them had and STILL HAVE no friggin care as to what they are celebrating. These are people that consider themselves Christians in your % stat. They figure "sure theres a god, Ive been to church before, and I think ill go to heaven cuz im a good person, so im a christian." However they don't agree with things presented in the Bible, because they hardly ever read it and hardly know what the bible says. They're lives aren't characterized by a struggle against sin, etc etc etc.
  12. Depends on your definition of solid. For most zones 5-10 wouldn't get them on SSC. Luckily deva has a history and good contacts so it doesn't have to deal with that struggle. You guys can use that past and contacts on your lil mission to get pop. Play to your advantages. In my experience it's all about publicity. Get people on your chat to tell everyone they know about the chat, and tell those people to tell others, etc. Get a 4-5 line chat going, announce some planned events for several back to back weekends, give people reason to STAY there and not just play one flag game.
  13. I have a hard time forseeing deva coming back :/ but its worth the try
  14. I don't see your point, it works both ways or not at all, since most of America (~%) is Christian. 9% in a country where the republican/democrat divide is pretty even represents a massive proportion of Christians. It doesn't have to work both ways, are you crazy? Every Golden Retriever is a dog. Not every dog is a Golden Retriever. Say in a group of a thousand people, 500 are republicans. Of those 500, 200 are christians. You could by this data stereotype the christians as republicans, but stereotyping the 500 republicans as christians is BS because in reality 40% of them are.
  15. Wow. Republicans = the party of Jesus now? And logic has no part in that party? You either are getting worse and worse, or you need to start explaining your outrageous statements better.
  16. To name your phone use the following step-by-step guide: 1. Choose one of the following Adjectives: Lame, crappy, uncreative, overpriced, stupid, !@#$%^&*, re!@#$%^&*ed, old, obsolete, unsatisfactory 2. Choose one of the following nouns: Junk, hunk of circuits, brick, iCrap, trash, waste of money, paper-weight, filth Voila! You now have a catchy and fitting new name for your phone!
  17. Sorry didn't realize it had become politically incorrect to have a sense of humor. And you implied that this is something that CONSERVATIVES all/only do. ROFL what a joke.
  18. It's good mindless fun when your bored. I whip it out occasionally when im tired of ss and just want to fool around. And i cant believe you guys thought of soldat and gunzonline before you realized he was talking about infantry. Stupid
  19. So much for subspace trying to improve our sense of community... Outlaw i had wondered why I hadn't seen you in ages... I assume you've asked your family all these questions before asking us? If not, do so.
  20. AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH lol
  21. Don't even try to push that kinda crap on me astro. You wrote a friggin dumb as crap sentence that no one in their right mind could understand, and you try to relate my inability to understand ur nonsense to my political views failing.
  22. Huh? Were you drunk when you wrote that lol?
  23. Havn't been on subspace more than 3 hours in the past week and a half, but im around
  24. 90% of my church is conservative, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a more patriotic group of a few thousand people. And yes christians having no place in america sounds ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. You should have no place in America just for saying that. And I don't think "atheist have no place in america" sounds normal. America wouldn't be America without all of our differences.
