I did not mean for it to come across as preaching. I'm trying to correct an incorrect view that people had of Christianity, by explaining what it is that we do believe. **EDIT** and i just went to check on the board rules, it wouldnt be against the rules to "preach" anyway. Yes i believe its truth and so do the other christians, however I wouldn't state it to be irrefutable. If other people don't want to accept it as truth, then that's fine with me, I think it's their loss, but it is also their choice and if they choose not to believe then that's their right.

*** If you don't believe in a God then please don't get involved in this, its not to argue the existence of god, but to discuss and interesting anomaly about the nature of light and god, for those people who already believe in him *** Anyway was reading sections of a book called Time Peace during the past few days. My mom knows the author, apparently they were good friends a long time ago, but anyway, had a copy of this book layign around (it came out in the last year) so I decided I'd flip through some of it considering it was short. As for the accuracy of some of the author's scientific statements... i donno, but heres what she said anyway. As per Einstein's relativity and E=mc2 the closer you get to the speed of light, m!@#$%^&* actually enlarges. Supposable when a subatomic particle was accelerated to 99.9999% the speed of light by scientists, it enlarged to 430 times its original mass Also, the closer you are to the speed of light, the slower times goes by for you. She says that (not sure about this) at the speed of light, time no longer affects you. Maybe this is why we can never seem to reach that speed. Maybe it is the nature of time, that we can not cease to experience it, it must exist, if only to the smallest degree. With it being established that at the speed of light time no longer functions, consider the following: God has often been portrayed as or in light. In the Bible when Saul had his confrontation with God (And became the apostle Paul) he said he simply saw blinding light and heard God's voice speak to him. Daniel wrote "He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him." In the new testament Jesus took Peter, james, and john to a mountain, "There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light." If God is indeed the being who reigns forever and who is outside of our constrictions of time, could God to some degree be light? I thought that was kind of interesting. I didn't know what to make of it, I obviously don't think that every beam of light coming to me from the sun is God, but the nature of the two things coincides very interestingly.

Why Athiests Should be Kicked Out of America
ThunderJam replied to PoLiX's topic in General Discussion
Can religious people not be scientists? People say science and faith can't work together: Not True. Plenty of christians believe that scientific events/findings have a root in our faith. The big bang has often been considered to be god "making the heavens and earth" in genesis. Did you know (at least I read this recently) that if one second after the big bang, if the expansion of matter had been at the smallest fraction less speed, that it all would have collapsed back in on itself and the universe wouldn't have been made? Could have been God that caused that, or it could be chance. -
Yes thats right, triple post. Lesson in the Christian doctrine: We do not believe that it is your physical works that gets you into heaven. Therefore kneeling in church and participating in your church's worship is NOT what we believe gets you in. Plenty of people go to church weekly but may not be true christians. As for calling god petty due to not accepting someone who lives with good morals, let me throw you our perspective. God creates man to be perfect, to be beings in his own likeness, man abandons god, man falls into vast sin, man worships false gods. God graciously provides man a second chance by giving us Jesus to pay for our sins. From this point on, if man does not accept this offer, that he has given to us freely, than we don't deserve to come to heaven to be with our maker.

double post, saw the post above mine, and decided, heck i am going to comment on more then severs post NBVegita said: "If Jesus Christ is your savior, everyone beyond 2000 years ago lived in purgatory?" No, we believe that before jesus christ, the jews were god's chosen people. They stayed true to them through ritual sacrifices of animals, showing that everyone they had was from God, and that they accepted him as their provider and therefore were willing to give some of their abundance back. Jesus, we believe, acted as the permanent sacrifice, that made the jews previous sacrifices no longer necesary. So before Jesus they could still get to heaven through their belief in God, and after Jesus we believe you can get to heaven through our belief in Jesus as God's son and atonement for our sins.

I was going to read this whole topic, but sever's post disgusted me enough that I refuse to read more. Desperation and need for attention? How bout lacking any support and needing someone or something to lean on. His friend saw the opportunity to convert him? You talk as if his friend saw him as a piece of meat, "+1 for me because I hooked another sucker." Any good friend, who saw there buddy in a struggle in life without anyone to support him should try give him spiritual help/motivation. Do you really believe in a god and why? Sure there are tons of people who call themselves Christians and celebrate Christmas and Easter without having any real spiritual convictions, but syrus wouldn't publicly be declaring himself a Christian in a debate about religions if his beliefs weren't heartfelt. You say the Church is just out to convert people, but you don't understand the mindset of the people within the church. We're not just trying to randomly snag every person we see and count it as a point up for us. Real christians are trying to invite people they care about to share in the joy that have found in their religion. It's not like "hey that guy is in trouble, lets convert him, ok, done now, move on to the next target."

I listened to a 20 minute broadcast about this on the radio on the way to school yesterday. I pretty much agreed with the conclusions they came to: 1) Legally he has every right to be here, and lay a wreath at ground zero. This is because while visiting with the UN he is permitted to visit a 25 mile radius from that location, which includes ground zero. Legally we have no reason to detain him from moving freely within in area. 2) This doesn't mean we should be happy or inviting or want to let him lay his stupid wreath. First thought we should just deny him the security personel to accompany him to ground zero so that he couldn't make the trip there as it would be unsafe. 3) However if we don't give him security to move around, what if got shot? That would probly be worse than letting him lay his stupid wreath. Imagine, he rants in Iran about how bad we are, comes here on a "peaceful visit" and then gets shot. America would be in hot !@#$%^&* then...

Oh my god, I just posted a ton of stuff and its NOT for public use. Once this topic in the un-password-protected board, i was like "crap"

Take a while because no one wants to help? Re-evaluate that. I proposed stuff tons of times, i wasn't ALLOWED to help, even though probly 85% of the staff wanted what i proposed and the majority of the players.

Ive got a history of having really really high ploss when my isp has certain troubles in my district. Used to hit %'s in ploss when I owned paintball reloaded, I think the sysop pw is the only thing that kept me from getting dc'ed too fast

Do you still not have graphics? I think after or during this weekend I can whip up some stuff for you if no one else has yet. I do already have a layout idea, and will use an spedometer style gauge instead of digits for speed. It would have a moving pointer that swings around/rotates to indicate your speed. This would be directly under/attached to the hlthbar and lap #'s, position #'s would be on either side of this. Since this is totally separate from the top right disp, that disp will have to be creative. I'm trying to think of a good way to do a fuel tank kinda effect for the energy (I've thought of making a body armor kind of image like some first person shooters before, where areas would turn red when ur damaged). Im guessing energy would be just used for shift/boosting, in this case I would suggest that it is fully drained within like 3 seconds, and takes about 3-5 seconds to recharge. This could be used as a kind of drifting thing. You could play this off as nitrous in the hlthbar. If you do this, maybe you should make the disp energy font blank, so the only place where u see nitrous is at the hlthbar. Finally, and this idea is a stretch, have you considered making some kind of windshield gfx that is a screenobject covering the whole screen, it would limit a SLIGHT bit of vision on the edges, maybe have the edges of gages, time, odometer and crap on it. The center would be clear like the windshield and would add to the in-car racing theme. This might be too much of a stretch.

I believe that being freeware, your not allowed to make a profit that is a direct result of selling the game? I could be wrong But if you say the charge is for joining the club, or say that it is an option but highly recomended donation or something like that... you should be able to work it out fine. Also consider giving part of the money to the ss community to pay for stuff like servers and webspace?
 -
O come on now, this shouldn't require you to open early... If he is hosted by any server approach that server's owner and show him your originals of the graphics. If that server owner does not tell his zone owner that he needs to remove the graphics or have the zone closed, then it's no respectable server and the opposing zone shouldn't pose any serious problem to you. Otherwise, simply the fact that you posted here is plenty of proof for any knowledgable community members that you made the work... that and I doubt that anyone would think some random nub can make graphics as well as you can.

A lot of the people (not all) who bash you do know !@#$%^&* about ds. They have played ds before you were there possibly killer and left when things took turns for the worse. Just because they don't play there now does not mean their not familiar with the goings-on of ds. Unique zone? DS stopped being unique when it gave up turf and balling when you could !setspawn with turf. THAT was a unique zone. What you have now is a formerly unique zone that has turned to typical flagging/basing and changed setts out of proportion in order to leech off the flagging-loving population from eg and other zones. It's kinda like when you hear music that has nothing special about it, as if the artist has gone with a generic sound figuring it isn't risky and it will have a mid-level appeal to a bunch of people. Rather than creating ur own sound and aiming to capture a awesomely devoted audience who is drawn to your specific, unique sound.

What do you guys think? Gimme some feedback

Bush has created an office of religion? The majority of all candidates play to a religion to gain more support, the office is not an office OF religion just because the man in the office is outspoken about his religion. And this is not forbidden by the founding fathers at all. The majority of the founding fathers were all Christian, but thats beside the point. The thing that is forbidden is the state favoring one religion and "forcing" people to take part in religions against their will. That was the founding fathers' intentions. This is simply BS. Just because someone claims to be a "messenger of god" (which i dont think bush has ever claimed) doesn't mean all christians are obligated to follow him. The antichrist himself is supposed to claim to be a messenger of god before he reveals his true self (according to Revelations, which i dont really believe, but im just pointing out that its part of christianity). Any random joe could claim to be a messenger of god. I'm a christian and I don't support bush anymore. I wouldn't say im against him either, but in his second term he's lost my support.

I don't think any of us whould venture to say that the founding fathers original intent with separation of church and state was bad. Many of the colonists came here so they could practice whatever religion they wanted, and the only point of the clause was so that the government couldnt force people into any specific religion more so than other religions. The problem is now-adays is that the issue has been blown out of proportion to take new meaning that it was never intended to in the first place. In my high school newspaper (which I wrote for 1 year) there was an article about how the county public school superintendent forced one of the high schools to change their graduation location. It had been planned to be at an evangelical church because of the number of people that it was capable of holding. The article ridiculed the superintendent for this, pointing out that he approved of us taking AP tests at local synagogues. Its similar to racism being somewhat reversed by affirmative. Dumb crap like this, and constantly tryign to be politically correct (PC) is ruining the country. In my opinion, trying to be PC will be the major downfall of one of the greatest nations ever conceived.
