  1. Since the only thing I participate in on here is SS RPG, I'll restrict my comments to that. To be honest, it's the only reason I visit these forums(other than OF's forums, obviously). But like others have already said, it's broken, and primarily rewards those who log on every hour. I can understand that you'd want to use it to bring more people to the forum, and people logging on more frequently seems to help, but it really just makes the game boring, and is one of the big reasons I quit this round. Of course, taking a weekend trip to Memphis and being away from my computer for 3 days was a large factor too. But when I came back, I sat down and converted everything to spy, and sabotaged the crap out of people for the next few days... then I realized how boring that was. I tried out Nightwasp to see if it would be more fun, and it wasn't. As to answer your actual question about SS RPG, the old settings were definitely better than what's going on now, with the rules dramatically changing halfway through the round, but the old settings weren't exactly balanced either. You really just need someone who has experience with real strategy games to take over the development. On that matter, I know the core is limited, and even though it could be way better even restricted by the core... it's just, we DO have PHP coders on SSForum, I'm sure. If you really wanna make something of this, Polix, why not see if you can't convince some people to write a new game? I know people who have done that in the past, and it's not supposed to be incredibly difficult. It seems like too much effort to me, but if the current core proves to be too limited, it may be the only way to get anything worthwhile out of it. Well, I will make one more comment. Bring Spyed back!
  2. When I'm on the receiving end? I don't believe I've _ever_ decided I wanted to turn all my troops into spies/sentries and sabbed people up the !@#$%^&* and made it so I couldnt be attacked by any of the people whos items I destroy. You see I believe games like this should be set up so that every aggressive action you take has a good chance that you will receive retribution, not made in such a way that you can cost someone tens of millions of points in one blow just to be cheap and sit invulnerable to attack, while having so little troops that sabbing you back is incredibly pointless, as I can't sab your spy items. To be fair, Falco, I made the move to 100% spy first. Of course, I ended up switching to nightwasp after I realized how bored I was with the game. I wish I hadn't done that, now... after all, had I started doing it, it surely would've been made impossible, just like massing was.
  3. The only solution here is to have the spy's income at 0. You can't stock up on spies for protection if you're broke all the time. Well, you CAN, but you won't get anywhere. As for Sentries, they can also be set to 0, but having their income set to half of a soldier's is also a viable option, possibly even full income. This is because selling all your soldiers for spies gives you lots of power in that attackers can't hurt you, but you can sabotage the !@#$%^&* out of them. Sentries doesn't give you that power, it would be a defensive maneuver, whereas changing to spies would be an offensive maneuver that just happens to also be incredibly defensive. Aileron, increasing spy power is NOT going to make people think twice about switching to spies. That's ridiculous. As for Mercs, they should probably be taken out. There are viable and legitimate strategies that involve mercs, but there are some that are unbalanced. Rather than spend forever trying to find a way to balance mercs, which play a very small part in the game when balanced, you should probably focus on the more important parts of the game. No sense in making what's already incredibly broken even harder to sort out. Then in a month or two, if you have things under control(not gonna happen), try adding in mercs. It shouldn't be a problem at that point.

  5. Lol, why would you EVER repair? I thought you'd know that was pointless? Besides the fact that selling/re-buying is frequently cheaper(at least I think it should be), repairing in general is never a good idea.

  7. This begs the question... why did you allow for it in the first place? And what do you mean it will be taken out next month, didn't you take it out this month? If lowering the attack limit to 10 wasn't taking out massing, then wtf was it for?
  8. While this game IS won by choosing sides correctly, when it comes to rules and development, it isn't about "sides" at all. I don't agree with Sui because he's "on my side", I agree with him because he's right.

  10. Actually, bank interest is at xx:45. I don't know why RedWaller keeps trying to trash talk, he keeps getting owned. Sui and I did so well last round because we knew wtf we were doing. I got a lot of items from other people, but Sui got all his stuff normally, and still beat Holes, which was most everyone else in the round combined. So you can trash talk all you want, it's just going to show your ignorance.
  11. Game is still insanely broken, based on UP and banking. Attacking is stronger now, but it's only effective for the first 1/3rd of the game.
  12. Well, I proved a bit earlier Aileron isn't gonna change something untilit starts to affect him, so your best bet is to m!@#$%^&* attack Aileron. Doing that now, btw.
  13. You can't train untrained mercs, you just have to buy the trained mercs instead. Of course now, availability is an issue, so that may not be an option.

  15. Hahahaha, we owned this topic. So far, I think only army size vs. army size matters, excepting of course racial casualty changes. But rank might affect it as well.
  16. .5% was enough last round(coupled with a 25% every 2 days super savings account) to make me quit buying anything after I got 100 UP and 100m in the bank, and I won by an extremely large margin(primarily on banked cash).
  17. More importantly, there IS a limit on how many are available to buy. This amount is for all accounts, so if I buy the mercs before you do, you won't be able to buy any. 20 are made every hour, though.
  18. That's !@#$%^&*uming the smaller army has as large of a base population and has the same funds as the larger army, AND !@#$%^&*umes that they're armed with powerful weapons. I doubt any of those three are the case. Not only that, what's realistic has no effect on what's fair, at all, in the first place.
  19. Furthermore, it's based on percentage or something otherwise proportional, so that a Weasel with 200 troops can brute force a Levi with 10k troops. The entire casualty system is messed period, this is only a way to stop it being wildly abused.

  23. Of course, the most valuable part was the intelligence. I was keeping tabs on everyone for the last 2/3rds of the entire round. That's why I was always so sure of everything.

  25. Well, it will make it really hard for SSCentral Gods to keep top slot(Aileron) when there's about a million Penises, but I was hoping no one would start something like that.
