I believe he thought the space between the sectors were going to be hyper tunnels. Personally, I think that would be pretty awesome. I remember the map that at least used to be up in oldhs, and it was quite a bit of fun. The map as a whole would've sucked for a pub map, but what was fun about it - running around in non-linear hypertunnels - could easily be part of a good pub map, I think. The diagonals, too. I guess it kind of encourages runwinning, but so do the current hypertunnels. It'll just be something else the players have to conquer, and it'd be a lot more fun than the current hypertunnels. And S!@#$%^&*, I didn't know you were working on a map for HS. You sure do jump around a lot. >_> But have you seen the Command & Conquer zone?

It'll flop. That's one I don't plan on buying.

You know, I have to wonder if this wouldn't work much better inside an enclosed space. I'm basically thinking a mix between SubSpace and Descent, I guess. But the best solution would probably be to allow for both. That way you could have 3D enclosed bases, and then free-roam when you're outside. That automatically allows for pretty much all of the gametypes currently used in SS. I personally like the idea of everything being enclosed, though. >_> And how is that going to work? Will there be a theoretical edge to space, an invisible wall? Or will it just kinda go on forever? And if so, how is that going to work? =\

Yo, I signed up for alpha, and I created an account, but... one major problem I have with your accounts is you can't have spaces in your name. Everyone loves spaces. AnimateDreams just isn't as cool. =\

From scarface.nl, as always. Also, Falco, come tell me about Hyperium some day. It sounds interesting.

Go ahead and say it: Bush is a terrorist. See, Bush's administration(the Neocons) have pushed their own image of terrorists. It's basically a picture of an "Islamic extremist". But when you look at what Bush has done and, more importantly, what his administration has done, you see that they have used fear to push their own agenda. That's what truly defines a terrorist. Terrorists incite fear, but not for the sake of fear - they only incite fear so they can USE that fear. Inciting fear is pointless by itself. Terrorists don't necessarily want to scare us - they have their own political agenda, and they believe they will have a better chance at pushing that agenda if they use fear. Whether they have to incite the fear themselves, or not... they really don't care. 9/11 was an event meant to scare Americans, primarily. The hope was that, seeing the power of our opponents, we would back off. This was the main goal, but it's probably important to note that the people carrying out the attack thought they would receive some kind of prize in the afterlife, though we obviously don't know for sure their true thoughts and intentions. Now, it's obvious to everyone that Bush used the fear caused by 9/11 to push his own political agenda. Everyone knows Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and everyone knows(or should know) that Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the other Neocons have been pushing for a war in Iraq since '97 or '98(See PNAC: Project for a New American Century ( http://www.newamericancentury.org/ ), for the word straight from the Neocons themselves, or Pnac.info ( http://www.pnac.info/ ) for in-depth analyses and discussions of PNAC. I don't endorse the Pnac.info as being official or necessarily even accurate - it is meant to show what some people's opinions are.). This definitely qualifies Bush as a terrorist. This is nothing new to America. It is similar to the way colonial Americans were taught to fear Native Americans(through such methods as scalping - it is now widely known that colonialists started scalping, and blamed the Native Americans for it so other colonialists would see them as savages). After spreading rumors and lies about Native Americans, it was easy to convince the colonialists to attempt genocide. However, you never see those colonialists branded as terrorists. The important difference, and the flaw in the statement I quoted, Astro, is that Bush used the attack for his OWN agenda, and in so doing removed almost every possibility for the terrorists to use the attack to push THEiR agenda. It's almost genius. It's the same basic idea behind turning someone into a Martyr. It's been done many times throughout history. Some rebel group(righteous or otherwise) is given rise by some leader. The opposing force desides to kill the leader. Cut off the head, and the Snake dies. When they're successful, the rebel group uses the emotions stirred up by the act to bring more people to their cause, and embolden those who are a part of the cause. This is such a classic theme throughout history that I don't feel I need to give specific examples and links(though I will, I suppose, if you want them). If you think about it, you'll notice that the rebel group also fits under the definition of terrorist. Depending on the situation, the opposing forces may be terrorists, as well. For example - if they wanted the man who was the leader of the rebel group dead anyway, they can use the fear created just by there being opposition(the new rebel force) to convince people to kill the man. So we can see, terrorism is really just a meaningless label. Manipulate the definition a tiny bit, and you can label even the most righteous of leaders as terrorists. An example for this situation - ancient Rome. Both the Christians and Nero were labeled as terrorists. Of course, this situation is very complex, and any kind of analysis is way beyond the scope of this discussion, but I still believe the example is clear in this case. So basically... you shouldn't try to use the term to label or define anyone. Heck, the term "terrorist" itself is currently being used as a device to incite fear - to be used to push an agenda. So while Bush definitely fits the terrorist moniker - we shouldn't necessarily hold that against him. Unless, of course, you believe Bush is responsible for 9/11 - but that, again, is a different discussion. If you have a problem with Bush, it should be with his agenda, not the way he's pushing it. That he uses the same tactics as those he supposedly fights against is only proof of his dedication to his ideals.

Well, SS RPG has made me want to play a game with you guys. I made an account on CyberNations recently, but with no one to play with, I didn't ever bother doing anything with it. I've heard it's boring if you don't have a lot of friends on that game anyway. So, why don't we juts make an SSNation? Of course, I'd much prefer to call it Penis.... Anyway, the reason I chose CyberNations is because I have no experience with it, so we'd all be on the same ground. Not that we'd be competing with each other, anyway. I've actually heard bad things about CyberNations, but I figure that, like SS RPG, it will be fun while it lasts. So, is anyone interested?

Um, excuse me. Please tell me how Aileron's Will cons!@#$%^&*utes popular demand.

Hmm. I wonder why you need to recruit new players so bad....

See? You never wanted any constructive criticism from me, because in the end it always meant that you were wrong about something. That's why you've ignored me since the beginning. And not just me, you've yet to listen to ANYONE's suggestions. You always have some reason why you're right, even when someone is busy proving their own point inside the game(i.e. me, as one example, though there were certainly others). And you want to talk about "people who are trying to build something here"? The only one who's been ABLE to build anything here is you. Despite all our suggestions, yours are the ones that get tested, and so far, they've ALL been shot down. In the end you have to settle and follow the suggestions we gave you a month previous. I think we were all interested in making SS RPG a better game. Remember when this forum was ripe with suggestions? Why do you think that was? And why do you think they stopped? Suggestions haven't stopped because the players have left, instead, the suggestions have stopped for the SAME REASON the players have left. And that reason is you. Polix ran this so much better than you. Now, no offense to Polix, but I don't think he was really suited to run SS RPG. He did well because he was able to think things through and for the most part avoid implementing ideas that would break the game, but he wasn't really creative enough to come up with new ways to make the game interesting. That's the reason I've never tried to make any strategy games of my own - I lack the creativity as well. Polix, however, listened to the players, and was therefore able to draw from their creativity. So even though he wasn't perfectly suited to run the game, he was able to do it very well anyway. You haven't managed to do any of those things, and player input and interest have both disappeared as a result. You complain that my arguments aren't intelligent enough. I imagine my arguments just go over your head, but in case you're serious, I'll step it up a notch and explain it to you: Polix established an environment that facilitated involvement in multiple facets of SSForum. He also created an atmosphere that managed to promote both friendly compe!@#$%^&*ion and discussion that includes, but is not limited to, casual socialization, dissertations of advanced and progressive play strategy, and deliberation of development theory. Such topics were not only encouraged but also given thorough yet scrupulous consideration. However, said mediums have been quashed, and participation in all facets has deteriorated. Modifications are made retroactively, and pre-emptive corrective measures have been abolished. Furthermore, your tenuous arguments and explications, though unfounded and discredited, are treated as canon material, while fundamentals are disparaged. I am compelled to requisition for your immediate removal from a position of authority. Acquiescence on your part would be the most prudent option available. I'll leave you with a translation: polix > u, gtfo pl0x

Check this !@#$%^&*ing video out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WIYX0KRUkM That's Chad, playing Fox, and Reflex is playing Bowser. Fox v. Bowser. Who do you think is going to win? Well, I'll spoil it, Fox wins. But not by much at all. And Chad's Fox doesn't suck, either. He happens to be ranked 1st in his region(mid-south, covers Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas). To be honest, Fox isn't his best character, Pikachu is. I know what you're thinking, if his best character is Pikachu, he must suck. But he's likely the best Pikachu in the nation, and Pikachu is what he got ranked 1st in his region with. But I'm personally more impressed by the Bowser. Reflex is so awesome. I missed G4S3, and now I'm really pissed, because I missed Reflex's matches. Dude, during matches, he'll sometimes run up to someone and start screaming, "Jump! JUMP!", and the the other player actually jumps, and he destroys their face. I wish Reflex had more videos. I wonder where he lives....

Then everyone will already know how much I own. =\

How much you wanna bet, then?
-
Yo, you forgot the source.

Seriously. If it ends up having online play, I'll money match anyone from SS. You choose the bet. Anywhere from 5$ to probably 50$(unless I start losing). Anyone up for it?

I can teach you the basics of ASSS, and help you move, if you'd like. Be warned, getting SSC on ASSS is hard right now. If the people here can't give you hosting, there are a few guys offering dev ASSS servers from MGB Forums. I can talk to them if you'd prefer. If you're interested, I can also try teaching you the basics of programming for ASSS. Just send me a PM if you want my help.

I don't know if you've found anyone for this, but I'd be willing to help. I'm not really a great programmer or anything, but I can usually make my way through a module. Probably enough that I could remove the CTF option and add a few sounds. If it's something Smong made, it's probably pretty well coded, so I'm not worried about it. Just send me a PM on here or try to catch me in game. I'm a bit harder to find in game now, since I have a job. Which, by the way, is probably where I would work on the module.

Yo, you should come play Ogame with the rest of us SSers that quit SS RPG. OGame kinda sucks in that it never resets, but it seems to be balanced, at least.
