SOS, I am working on getting a high-speed internet connection at home, and it should be good to go this weekend (the download speed is 800kbs but the upload is like 20kbs = crap) = 100 K/sec download and like 2K/sec upload Once I get this going, if you want me to, I can work with the website design updates. I am pretty !@#$%^&* familiar with the php/html, and once I get it up its not hard to maintain, and I have time for something like that. Just hook me up with FTP/webite address info and I can get things like the scores working and such (and !@#$%^&* I can even get you past records from back in the day to look up). I'm not familiar with the database stuff, but the website will probably be done in PHP (since I think that is how it is set up now already), otherwise HTML. I'm taking a database course in school this term, so i'll be able to help you out with that stuff maybe too soon!

Oh btw, do you still want an old web design SOS? I haven't had a chance to look for it the CD with all of that stuff on it yet....

flying, you might want to consider advertising this in other zones/forums to see if anybody else may have interest in joining. Have a slogan like "are you good in your zone, betcha you wont be in this tournament" because odds are if you are not a deva player, you will get OWNED due to the uniqueness in settings. Just an idea, might be a good one to attract a few players (I doubt many) but you never know.

Flyfinn, you may want to consult SOS about having a message appear to players involved in the duel tournament to remind them about their next match. (Have the reminder come every time they enter the zone). Probably something very simple to program into the bot for SOS. And this would be an answer for mumbo_jumbo's request.

The top 5 players of devastation all-time: 1. tm_master 2. SG-538 Psycho Drone 3. Ketchup 4. Moonraker 5. Bossboy Now, there were alot of great players recent and past, but these 5 stick out to me the most because they could do it all, rec, flag, ball. As you can see the only active player left is tm_master. He is a trooper, and one of the nicest, most dedicated players in this game.

I think it would be cool for the bot to keep track of what a player's favourites are: Favorite Ship Favourite Weapon (Bombs/Bursts/Bullets) Favourite Special (Portal,Brick,Decoy) Favourite Base Favourite Game (Goal/Flag) Favourite Enemy (person who they've killed the most) Biggest Nemesis (person who has killed them the most) What would also be cool is a ranking system in the zone, where you are ranked 1st - whatever based on the bi-weekly stats: 1. Kills 2. Total Play Time 3. Losses 4. Points etc And based on how you ended up each week you will get ranked, so that you can see who the best "overall" player is, instead of something thats just individual.

I think the Devastation Awards should be brought back from the dead. This is where everyone can vote for the best flagger, reccer, best staff member, best goaler, best team-player, best newbie, best veteran, and stuff like that.

This somewhat belongs with the website topic, but I decided it would be best as a seperate thing to discuss. I think there should be a statistics record-keeper. This would keep track of: 1. Who is the current record-holder for items as most kills, points, during a scorereset 2. Who is the all-time holder of items such as kills, points ... and this is cumulative. 3. Total playing time in Devastation All of these items can be kept track by the bot, or by just parsing the information from the subspace.edome.net and adding it all up. I like option #2 because this would show who has been in deva in the longest, played the most, and so on. Its like hockey or baseball stats where they mention all of the hits and home runs, or goals scored that they have had in their entire careers.

uploading the graphics to the server is not? why the heck do you need to upload graphics. .. shouldn't they all be there regardless?

Yeah, putting up the a zone population graph would be good, instead of going to stats.trenchwars.org And maybe expand those graphs a little bit, they only show daily/weekly stats ... have a monthy population graph too.

It is just powerballs and a mini-golf set ... nothing too crazy. But before I give it to ya, I plan to spruce it up to make it look like a real mini-golf place. Also, possibly you can design a bot for it such that it keeps track of your score and stuff (and also possibly gives you a ball, so you dont have to run to get one.

There was a request early on for a golf arena. Well, over the next several weeks, I plan to dig my old golf arena up, and improve it with a good looking tileset and such, and I'll let SOS post it if he desires. Stay Tuned ....

Well can't you just use standard subspace text ... or just take a screenshot of a good font set and use that?

Play in deva through your browser window ... or at the very least ... spec in it! Since the stats page also only shows you the scores ... have another stats page to show you the credits and allow you to have options to donate/buy things from the website to use later. Or create a "bank" where you can place your credits before a scorereset or something, and gain interest on the credits, but while they are in the "bank" they can not be accessed in the zone, and are stuck there for a minimum amount of days.

shadows, if you go to subspace.edome.net you can view the zone stats for any scorereset and base it on top players in points, kills, losses, ratio etc ... same with squads Also a general thing to let you know total players that have played in the zone, total points of all players SOS, you may want to post this website in the news, or provide links here on the forum Even add a bot command where if they type !score it will give them to link of where to go. Oh, and SOS, i have the HTML code required to have the stats displayed on your own website if you want it. It needs to be changed a little to reflect the new zone name and port and such but it will still work.
