(aww, hope get better soon) after hearing a faint murmurring from the pile of dust that once was manus, the smurf begins to make new plans... initiating his cloaking system, the smurf sneaks towards aileron and snags his wallet. agter seeing apple pie's failure at this manuver, the smurf proceeds to deactivate all wires hidden up aileron's sleaves. he then slides away from the bar unnoticed and slips into one of the remaining chaos gates in search of new adventures. meenwhile, inside the bar, an echoing laughter is heard coming from the gate as a single remaining member of the smurf mafia steps foward with several pounds of high explosives strapped to his chest. the laughter slowly turns into speach as the smurf menicingly says, "i hope you all enjoy the little present i left you. until the next bar, have fun in -*BAD WORD*-!!!"
-
*after staring serenely out into space for a moment, the strange smurf rises from his stool next to the window and slowly walks up behind the roach. the smurf reaches into his pocket (yes, smurf pants have pockets, they're just well hidden) and pulls out a small green box. he drops the box on the roach's head, causing the box to explode into the word "Warp!"*

000, are you trying to tell us that you're crazy? or just that you like spam?

*the strange smurf casually strolls back into the bar. upon noticing the pile of dust that was manus, he slowly approaches bar.* "excellent, with manus gone there will be noone able to stop my plans. smurftopia shall rise to power once again!" *in the insuing silence, shadows begin to pour out from the chaos gates scatered across the room. the shadows slowly begin to spread, covering the room in complete darkness. but as the room blacks out, a dim blue light begins to glow, iluminating the smurf. the light begins to spread as he to utter unrecognizable words in the ancient smurfian language. under this new blue glow, strange forms become discernable throughout the room as the smurf mafia surounds the occupants of the bar. the figures are soon recognized as the smurf mafia. but by this time, the smurfs greatly outnumber those in the bar and have easily succeeded in pilfering the weapons from their new hostages.* O.O.C.:now that manus is...gone...can the bar be destroyed?

i just wanna note that i more or less hate the jav, but i still want old settings. they were deffinately more challenging and fun. as delic said, it took teamwork and a variety of ships to succeed in bases. now i find i can fly into the base solo as a spider and pretty much clear it out, unless there are more than two lancs, which is incredibly rare anyways. but with old pub, a single lanc could easily take out a spider. but then the spider would call in, say, a wb or jav (yes, teams acctually supported base attacks regularly then!). then suddenly the lanc is in trouble and gets a lev and terr for support, so in pops a shark for the spiders team. suddenly there is a full fledged base battle going on with amaizing intensity! and if someone then proceeded to buy bounce, the mayhem increases even more for hours of basing fun! the only way to truely lock down a base was with multiple bouncing lancs. but i just remember such occurences leading to bigger attacks from the other team, once again leading to huge base battles and tons of fun and excitement. but now, one or two people take out all enemies in the base with ease and the fight is over. one person from the other team may return if the ball is going that derection, but for the most part the base battles are pretty boring. No challenge=No fun <_< also, though the ships are all powerful in some areas and weak in others, the distribution of power amoung ships seemed amaizingly well done. it was't an omnipotent jav and a bunch of other lame ships trying to survive. i actually think the jav seems more over-powered now than before. now this whole thing of "scaring off newbies," i'm completely fine with that. cuz it might bring back some of the "vets." and then the idea of a challenge might be reintroduced.

so aileron, still looking for a pilot? fine...i'll do it! especially since there will be "no qustions asked" about my methods <_< just lemme go make...a phone call... *steps outside the bar and retreats to a dark corner of the parking lot before pullling out a cell phone* papa, send the smurf mafia to my position.

yay for old pub!! but since that won't be happening soon (or will it? plzzzz?), let's deal with these topics you mention about the current pub...about the reps, i'm just personally glad that most terrs haven't discovered anti-warp yet now the weasel? just be glad it doesn't have the 100 attach bounty from before...actually, i liked that...it generally kept weasels outa base cuz they couldn't turn for -*BAD WORD*- and stealth for spider might not deplete energy, but it slows recharge like -*BAD WORD*-, and is good as is. it already requires skill if you wanna survive...but there don't seem to be many spiders around anymore that actually care about anything other than mashing burst as much as they can

did anyone even read what i said?

i've grown accustomed to the current settings, but they're just not as fun as the old ones. and i think its because of a lack of diversity. although "all ships have a place," most can be used effectively using similar tactics, which is what originally drove me away from some other zones. its gotten quite boring. what was so great, imo, about the old settings was the diversity in each ship. you had to change strategies and ships to accomodate what was going on around you, and you were always alert, whereas now, you can take on almost any enemy without worrying about what they're flying (unless they're cloaked and you don't have x, of course). the map has also grown rather boring. but i never noticed that problem with the old sets. maybe it's just because i was still new to ss back then, but i think the map was well designed for the old settings and doesn't work as well with the new ones. back then, most ships weren't designed for stray duels in the spawn area, and i often felt more comfortable fighting in the bases. i never got bored, but instead tried to develop new tactics to use the base to its fullest in the heavy battles that constant;y waged over the goals. I've noticed many people whining about the loss of the old jav (i guess that's a bit of an undestatement), but this is what i really missed about the old settings. and about the old weasel: i found it a lot less annoying than the current one. rarely did i see them massing in great numbers, but when i did, a change to terr for about 5 minutes dettered them for quite a while (it had x radar and antiwarp, defeating the only advantages the old weasel actually had). in addition, the old weasel was a -*BAD WORD*- of a lot more fun to fly than the current one.

killa, do you know how to host pandora properly? cuz i know you've hosted it and it was fun, but was that how it was meant to be played? cuz many people i've talked to think that event is lost, and that you probably don't know what you were doing anyway, do any other staff members know how to properly host pandora? cuz i heard it was a lot of fun, and i wanna play it more -
o wait, when are you too old?
-
ahhh, the old weasel...it was lots of fun, but i agree that it was a bit extreme... maybe it should be brought back, with a little more energy (maybe 500?) so that it can withstand more than 3 bullets... but is there a way to change settings so that it can't warp at all? let it still attach (with the extreme bounty, that was amusing), but if it can't warp, then maybe people will actually be able to fight back and it will piss people off less. but back n topic (of the post), i loved the old sets, i wouldn't mind seeing them restored either. maybe to go with the "friday's with suprises," and see how the rest of the population likes it. and they better support it

you wouldn't keep track of most deaths? you mean that all of Dire Wolf's...umm...complete lacke of work...was in vain??
-
this rule is designed to stop people from becoming retartedly overpowered. it is supposed to stop spiders from flying into a pack of enemies, bursting, warping out, then changing to a wb and back to spider to get their specials back and do it again, racking up kills and completely avoiding death. or to stop a shark from bricking to lock down a base, then switching to wb and back to shark when the bricks are gone so they can do it again. or to stop levs from m!@#$%^&*-murdering with an unlimited supply of thors. well, atleast thats what i think the rule is for...and it makes sense. sure people might do it at times, but what is the point of playing, and trying to get better to perfect the use of a ship, when you can continuosly shipchange to have a limitless supply of specials and blow the -*BAD WORD*- out of anyone in your base without any real effort or skills? kinda defeats the point of the game if you ask me...

i dont know if its just me, but ive been seeing rep wars evolving from this problem. since you cant attach->burst->die in spider, more people seam to be using ports. this has increased the use of terr for antiwarp (which has pissed me off almost as much as the reps). anyway, increased terr action leads to more mines...sure, there were always plenty of lev mines, but now theres even more. and since the spider cant rush->prox the mines->port out any more either (again, increased antiwarp), the reps are deployed like nobodies business. no matter how nostalgic this makes me feel, its still quite annoying. and i suppose i cant think of a good way to solve this, other than decrease attach bounty slightly (although, i do think aa slight bounty is a good idea), or remove antiwarp from terr and make it only buyable. or bring back the lanc to what it used to be

omg temp, where are you when im on? cuz i havent seen a single -*BAD WORD*-!!! and whenever i request it (which iv stopped doing...) i just get ignored. why do i always miss the good events?
