  1. If discretion wants to interoperate with Continuum in the same zone, then you need to get players to match up exactly for collision calculations. I doubt the SS/Continuum algorithm is complicated. It's probably the simplest thing they could get to work.
  2. It'd be trivially easy to setup a module to broadcast predetermined packets for an experiment like that. If run locally, you could eliminate the lag component while still being able to alter the c2slatency on the outgoing position packets.
  3. Your host is the person to contact, then. If you are a new host and you need SSC access, you'll have to contact a billing op or member of the SS Council.

Anyone have a recent copy of this? The copy I found is really old, and I'd rather not recompile everything if I don't have to.
  5. Self mutilation (or whatever you choose to call it) is not a logical choice. If you got there logically, then your logic must be twisted. QED.
  6. ?brickwrite, or a lot of little bricks.
  7. How much? For what?
  8. You don't have to have sex. I thought that was the whole point.
  9. The oil rig was owned and operated by Transocean Ltd, not BP.
  10. I've never used an Apple product, but I love Apple. I love Apple because they compete with the companies that I *do* buy from. It means I get a higher quality product. All you people raving about Windows 7: that never would have happened without Apple. Same with cell phone or media player.
  11. I think an online forum for a 2d spaceship game filled with sex-starved teenage nerds is probably not the wisest venue for this discussion. EDIT: if anyone disagrees, then carry on. I'll stay out of it.
  12. Translation: Ban everyone. Sorry, no.
  13. Not per pixel, though. Some compromise between scalability and number of lvz objects could surely be reached.
  14. I stopped reading Slashdot years ago because they couldn't keep their political bias out of their articles. Sounds like they haven't changed. Note that I have no problem with bias when they're honest about it. It's when they claimed to be impartial and objective that I stopped reading. I'm sure BP does care about the spill. But they know they've been thrown to the political wolves. They'll do whatever they can to get out of there with their hides and wallets intact (and there's nothing wrong with that: the job of a company is to make money). EDIT: for those that don't think BP was thrown to the wolves, why didn't the government have the mandated fire booms in the Gulf? That would have contained the problem before it got out of hand. There's a mentality to look toward the government to do everything, and yet when they screw things up by mismanaging things, we're blaming BP? Does this make sense to anyone?
  15. I thought revelation was an allegory for a conflict within the early church? Perhaps I'm mistaken. I consider myself Christian, but when it comes to vague prophecies, just about anything will fit them. So, moving back to the real discussion...
  16. I made it with particleIllusion, like most of the animations in the zone. I realized after I posted it that the second half of the animation is identical to the first half, because of the way I did the looping. No one seems particularly interested in the animation, so I won't continue any work on it.
  17. Worse is punishing the other drilling companies with the moratorium on offshore drilling in the Gulf. Make no mistake, an attempt is being made on our way of life, and limiting oil is the easiest way to threaten our economy and our way of life.
  18. I had the same problem. The solution was to go into advanced options and check Show Default Resolutions. It worked after that.
  19. Here's an animation for you. See Attached. Obviously the frame rate is way too high, and the image size is too large, but it gets the point across.
  20. So you're saying SS/Cont doesn't display the true position of the player the moment it comes in? Interesting.
  21. I used Continuum for more than a year on 64-bit Gentoo Linux. I had to switch back to Windows for work, but I can say for sure that Continuum works fine on wine x86_64.
  22. What does SubSpace use?

I'd be able to answer better if I knew the reason for your asking.
  24. Indeed yes! Let me add another word: immaturity.
  25. I solved that problem by not changing aliases, as arrogant and condescending as my alias is.
