fields have always had a history of abuse, so maybe its time for them to be reengineered firstly, what if each ship had a field generator without buying one, and there was a ?buy fields category when a field enters, it would be named , since there could only be one per player out at maximum. they would not have to buy a field, they would not have to waste their time flying to b8, the most boring thing ever. instead, they would have a delay with a certain amount of randomness set by the field items they had purchased, such as fielddelay -100 or something. delay would be very long, > 5 mins, since everyone would have one players could choose from positive effects for their team or the current negative effects for the enemy team system. possible item effects: fielddelay fieldfiredelay fieldweapon fieldweaponlevel some weapons would have inherent properties, like repels would have -delay, and bursts would have +delay, and full charges would have to randomly be prized to a random person inside the field, and perhaps even random super or shields greens could be used by friendly fields. friendly fields could also do things like randomly generate greens inside the field, to be collected by anyone to recharge items, but that wouldnt stop some greedy bastard from flying around the field and hogging them all, so they could just be prized directly to ppl inside the field. additionally, theres nothing stopping a field from having mixed weapons/properties, so one field could be both friendly and harmful at the same time, or firing both bursts and repels, etc, but that would detract from the purity of the system. additionally, it sucks trying to figure out whose field is whose, so lvz should go out with a green circle for friendly or red x for harmful, and another indicator whether that field affects your ship or not. lvz supports transparency, so this can all be done by the corner gfx.
