  1. I was just wondering, how many zones use ASSS? Are there any bigger zones that use it?
  2. Yeah, format should stop it. Unless you manage to install the misbehaving program after a new install too I attached my chaos dir.
  3. I see. Well, I don't see any obvious causes then (although you might want to try getting rid of that trojan - it shouldn't mess with the game, but I guess some very smart trojans could set off Continuum's alarms). I guess only PriitK or a bucket of luck can fix the problem for you
  4. Well, every ship is different and collecting greens upgrades your ship, so it can start bad and get better. Still, the same ship should never be slower with afterburners. It is most likely that this just seems like this to you because the ship's conditions and upgrade status varies. What zone do you play in? To make sure whether this is some sort of a computer malfunction, the help of a server sysop is needed. The *tinfo command will need to be used to determine your computer's timing and this can only be done by a sysop. If you play in SSCX Alpha West SVS and happen to see Bargeld there, ask him, he can do it. You can also join the online tech help chat channel and ask for someone to *tinfo you there. Ask for help there (not everyone there can help but some sysops occasionally chat there) or contact me in the channel if you see me in there. Here's some instructions on how to use the chat channel: To join the channel, type ?chat=techhelp To see who else is in the channel, type ?chat To write a message to the chat type ;whatever
  5. And how do you know that?
  6. Ok, on my second look, I also found AdAware, which falls into the "suspicious" programs group as well. Also, I found about 30 probable trojans in your auto-start list and one in memory (mfdcfg.exe). That could also be causing some trouble.
  7. Hmm... do download sites link to the combo file or .38? Perhaps the sites need some updating.
  8. At first glance, I spot AVG Anti-Virus running. Remove that and see what happens. I'll have another look through the file tomorrow morning, when my head is clear, and I'll let you know what else I find. But yeah, see what getting rid of AVG does.
  9. Agreed. Although I often edit posts for grammar and readability with the tag. But I guess I should include the tag - it won't do any harm and will calm some users' minds about some strange black magic correcting their English

    Sig Length

I proposed that all sigs should be zeroed after the limit change - retroactiveness at it's finest
  11. Hmm... ok, give us your system info. Here's how to do it: Type "msinfo32" into the run dialog. Then select File->Export and save the data. Then wait a few minutes (it can take time) and attach the file here.
  12. Hmm, that's odd. But I can't test it since all it does in "run as" mode for me is give an error code
  13. Mav: Read the text next to the checkbox in the "run as" dialog blur: Check the FAQ entry about this (Why won't Continuum load?) and get rid of any of the listed programs and try everything there.
  14. Actually, that's why "run as" is marked as a partial solution in the FAQ. It simply is a very poor workaround. It is supposed to not let you write to any files, so you will probably not be able to play with "run as".
  15. The directory server port was 4992, not 4002
  16. First, try to reinstall Continuum. If that does not work, click the "click here" link in that dialog box and write me the text it shows.
  17. It's probably that Continuum does not like a program you have on your computer - it thinks you intend to cheat. Therefore it won't run. Try removing all your running programs and uninstalling any suspicious ones.
  18. Also check out the FAQ post, it might help: Why can't I connect?
  19. Stupid ranting... trashcan this
  20. I've made a new pinned topic for the updated logmaker that some dude posted.
  21. This is the updated version of LogMaker. Read the readme.txt for instructions. Also, you will have to rename your pre-release Continuum0xxprx.exe to Continuum.exe for this to work with it. Download from SubspaceDownloads.com

    Thanks for the update
  23. The problem is that your display settings are incorrect. Look at the Resolution and Refresh setting in your brother's profile and make sure yours are the same.
  24. Yeah.... right...
  25. It could be that your ISP blocks Continuum. Give them a call and ask if they block UDP traffic. (UDP is a network procotol that Continuum uses. It is sort of like a different mode than normal internet traffic so it might be blocked).
