  1. Yes, you have to install 39pr1 over a previous version.
  2. There's really nothing you can do. Network problems like this need "time to heal". Routers sometimes go haywire on the net - just wait and it should get fixed or just start working again on its own. This case is a bit odd since the servers are very "close together", but still - this sort of things happen. Just wait for a while (could take a few weeks) and it should get better. PS. TW and EG are not on the same server, as the traces show (different IPs).
  3. Is your disk full means: do you have no space left on the disk? How are you even able to install Continuum then? (Or do newer versions not require Admin access...?) Anyway, that is most likely the problem. Your user does not have the rights to use Continuum. Use an admin account or get an admin to give you rights in the Continuum directory or install to somewhere where you have rights (My Do!@#$%^&*ents? Maybe it'd work).
  4. Delete the Continuum directory and try again. Is the Continuum directory c:\Program Files\Continuum? If not, install it there. Does your user have administrator rights? Try a user that has. Is your disk full? That would be bad.
  5. Heh
  6. Well, try the website of the company that made the modem.
  7. And it might also very likely be either the motherboard or the USB port that is fauly. "Another device works there" means nothing. Still, try some other drivers, yes.
  8. If it's the wireless... well, move to an area where you have better reception or buy a more powerful wireless router.
  9. To decrease lag, put your bots on the same computer as the server. Also, some incredibly stupid programming practices and LVZ usage can cause "fake lag". Just be careful not to do something like setting 1000 LVZ objects per second, mmkay?

    Fatal error

Just restart and it should work again
  11. Well, don't even start those programs if they give you problems! Also, players often misunderstand lag effects. You might be doing just that. Lag is a delicate beast, meh. If you have constant packetloss, call the ISP.
  12. Because -30 + 10 is -20 In other words, you can have both positive and negative packetloss at the same time! But only one will show up (whichever is greater, minus the other). Either that or they're ok 56k Either that or you're misinterpreting what are "lag effects" and what are not, like many people seem to do.
  13. Yes, packetloss is caused by the loss of packets... Anyway, don't start up stuff that causes packetloss. Under 1% loss should usually be OK, although it's not a good thing. Check with your ISP if it's a problem.
  14. I don't understand what you just said...
  15. You mean why you get negative packetloss? Basically, it means some router along the way is screwed in the head and is sending out more pcakets than come in. Nothing to worry about, really. S2C negative packetloss might overflow 56k users, but in general it causes no bad effects.
  16. Sent in a pm. sonic 123 is the user.
  17. No
  18. No, Bargeld. Your explanation is wrong. The only part that was correct was that negative packetloss can indeed go any numbers but the plain fact of the matter is that it is impossible to get over 100% (positive!) loss without using imaginary numbers in the calculation. That leaves two possibilities: a ) The packetloss calculating algorithm is broken. (Very unlikely) b ) Some freak accident/bug/cosmic ray caused the counter to become corrupt or a wrong counter to be used. (The only possibility left) (Also, to nitpick, position packets are just about the only packets that are not re-sent) (And secondly, 100% loss includes all re-sent packets, there is no "first packet only" restriction on the counter)
  19. You're right, that seems utterly impossible.
  20. The ports will not help you. If your router blocks all Continuum traffic, most likely there is no way you can play. Still, you can try to see if the router has something called "NAT". See if "UDP" is disabled there. Probably the router does not have that, but who knows. In any case, the local port is random. You need a fully NAT-capable router to play. Cheap routers might not work. You can get the server port by holding down the right mouse button over a zone. Know that it also uses the next port (+1). However, most likely this will not work. NAT is the fix, not ports.

    Subspace v2

    Nope, no java needed
  22. Well... there are two issues with this idea: 1) I don't think they actually do what you said, as d1 mentioned. 2) $$$$ But if they do provide such services and some zone owner has the $$$$$$$$$$ then why not...

    not loading up

Short answers seem to be all the rage these days, eh? What Bargeld means is that if you only had SSCX servers in the list (unlikely) then they'd be red. Can you download the zone list again? Seems to me like a firewall or something is not letting through some of Continuum's connections. It lets the trace through but not normal gameplay. Contact your ISP. Ask them whether they have recently blocked UDP traffic (the game uses UDP for playing but another type for trace, which is why one might work).

All the zones are red? Does the trace button give you a working trace (does a list of stuff show up in that window)? Do you have a firewall? Try without it. Are you using AOL with parental controls? Disable them.
  25. I started when I was... 13? 18 now -_-
