  1. @ Sama: changing the registry won't affect Continuum, I can't tell you why, only that I suggested it, a person tried it, and it didn't work. Doc Flabby quoted that same link, and it fixed the problem for the person. It just does -- When Trench Wars first released Continuum 0.40 when it wasn't suppose to (due to some problems with the installer), this same problem occured for all users. Unlike the current issue, it was mostly fixed by just entering a zone and exiting right after.
  2. Are you one a wireless connection? Does this happen in every zone? It seems from the trace that you have a firewall blocking it, so I can't really tell whether or not the lag is caused by your connection or the server's. Try going into a zone and typing " ?packetloss ", tell me what it says.
  3. Seriously though, we could list the world; but we can't interview the world. Take some notable players, and take some other random people (discover what new players think of Continuum to this date, what old players think). But you're not forced to go down Polix's way (he wanted a set of the same 20 questions for everyone), you could add specific questions relating to the person in mind, similar to SSDownload's interviews.
  4. The difference is, your Nintendo emulator isn't a protected program that was primarily designed for Windows 98. Continuum triggers DEP because for one, it was designed for older versions of Windows, so the software code isn't up-to-date. Secondly, Continuum also has some built-in security mesures preventing its source from being edited or modified; that's the main reason why Continuum has had a lot of compatibility problems with firewalls in the past (although mostly fixed since 0.40). But more accurately: You don't have to disable DEP per say, in fact, Windows Vista doesn't allow you to disable it. Rather, open up DEP and add the Continuum executable to the exceptions list (as listed in one of the stickied faqs).
  5. Polix had asked for questions, since SSCentral was going to incorporate a 20-Questions (interview) section. I don't know if he'll ever finish the idea, but at least this is a good place to start: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=19883
  6. Alright, I updated the page with comparisons between three different ways to obtain relatively the same effect. The first being the original code, the last being a template*, so that the syntaxt needed is simplified: {{Table | sysop= | mod= | smod= | botop= | dev= }} http://wiki.ssforum.net/index.php/User:Hakaku *Note: It's not a fully functional template, so if you omit one of the criterias, it'll still appear.
  7. lmao, sorry this is too funny. I hope the kid wins though, this is just rediculous.
  8. Yeah, I tried this before and copied an install on my usb unto my computer, but it didn't run. I later discovered that the problem was because I had DEP enabled, which blocked Continuum from starting up. Maybe that the other system you're trying to move it on also has Windows DEP enabled?

  10. ^I'm still waiting on my answer about DEP (in the video you chose the wrong option, as I mentioned in my earlier post); if Continuum is shutting down as soon as it's started, it sounds a lot more like something external is closing it, and it's most likely has to be a Windows application if it's a fresh install of XP. Other than that, I can only recommend you to reinstall Continuum into a different location (I suggest trying on a USB stick if you have one). Edit: Someone has a similar problem as you, and has KasperSky: http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?t=33623
  11. The controls as usual are still too touchy, making it difficult (and frustrating without a reset button) to even see anything if you press the wrong buttons. And I don't understand how thrust Up sends my ship backwards, while Down goes forward...
  12. Well I like both, but my main reason for trying out the table'd version was because I didn't like how the page dragged on endlessly, making it seem like there's more content then there actually is. If you're going to make a template out of it though, make sure to design it using HTML, not WikiMarkup. And if no one's done it already, I'll see if I can get a dummy template up for comparison.
  13. I was curious as to which one is preferred when adding staff lists to zone pages? Or rather which one looks better? In the linear version, the list can drag the page down a lot, depending on how much staff you have, and if you're including former staff as well. The advantage to this however, is that it's easier to add descriptions on the side of a player's name. Example: http://wiki.ssforum.net/index.php/Devastation In a table'd version, the list is more neatly organized and it doesn't drag the page on forever. The disadvantage is that it's more difficult to add extra information, although this could be included in the player's page instead. An example can be seen here: http://wiki.ssforum.net/index.php/User:Hakaku
  14. Hmm, I missed the video, but you didn't actually add Continuum to DEP's exception list. You chose the first option, when you really should have chosen the second one, then click the "add" button and search for Continuum.
  15. Oi Trained, I understand you own http://get-continuum.com and http://getcont.com , is there any possibility that you can fix your CSS to make it IE compatible? Considering it's still the major browser out there... http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/1392/menubargetcontinuumqg3.th.png
  16. Pretty cool, although I've never had the use for that many chats; it's just too hard to keep up with if they're active.

  19. Works fine for me. Although I'm surprised, since I've used Google's custom SE before, but couldn't get it to search ssforums.
  20. Well, cheers to you Testtube, and congrats!
  21. Well, it depends on what OS you're running. 99% of cases where firewalls block Continuum happen on Windows XP. Since 0.40 though, a lot of problems (if not most) should have been fixed. But always remember to add Continuum to the exceptions list of your firewall(s), and check for other issues such as DEP. When I had McAfee on XP though, I never really encountered any problems, except the occasional unresponsiveness due to 0.39pr1's "security" implementations. On Vista however, I can run any antivirus programs or firewalls without any problems at all.
  22. I can drink that stuff anytime at my work, but after a while it's just disgusting. I'd rather stick with water.
