Last time he was active here he mentioned that he would go and dig up the source code to his AI bot. Does anyone have any contact information to Bjorn? I would like to check up on that.
-
Bjorn's AI bots don't play very well if the map contains special/extra tiles (which it does). Meh, you are probably right. I cannot get the settings from Sniper without a hack to export them.

Just set these up: subspace@hlrse.net or subspace@bluetoast.org (PayPal). Any further input and ideas, PoLiX? :? What is the wisest way to allocate funds for advertisements? How would you do it? I am able to set a daily maximum (currently $1.04) and a cost-per-click bid (currently $0.52). If anyone has any ideas for additional Facebook advertisements, feel free to suggest them. Advertisements have a Ad Name (text that links to getcontinuum.com), Description (text beneath Ad Name), and a Picture (between Ad Name and Description, dimensions 110x80). Separately, suggest keywords. I did spend some time figuring out a good combination of keywords. Some keywords appeal to a greater number of estimated people, and some less. ;o So far today: Date Imp. Clicks CTR (%) Avg. CPC ($) Avg. CPM ($) Spent ($) 11/29/2009 10,688 1 0.01 0.52 0.05 0.52 Donations: * 11/27/2009 - $4.16 - L.C.

You're the only one that has reported that you are unable to connect or find it. :S The dedicated server is located in Dallas, Texas, if this means anything. I did a directory server run: ds1.hlrse.net - Shows up ssdir.playsubspace.com - Shows up sscentral.sscuservers.net - None of the BlueT zones show up except for Dragonball Z (unknown reasons) Zone Name: BlueT Jackpot SVS Zone IP: 74.86.4.98 Zone Port: 20000

http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/facebook_contad.png If anyone sees that advertisement on Facebook, holler. I am giving this a go for a few days to see how it goes. 11/28/2009 3,091 Impressions 3 Clicks 0.10% CTR $0.35 Ave.CPC $0.34 Ave.CPM $1.04 Spent 11/27/2009 3,419 Impressions 2 Clicks 0.06% CTR $0.52 Ave.CPC $0.30 Ave.CPM $1.04 Spent Lifetime 6,510 Impressions 5 Clicks 0.08% CTR $0.42 Ave.CPC $0.32 Ave.CPM $2.08 Spent My daily maximum bid right now is $1.04 (I don't want to spent a lot of money right now), so on both days I'm maxing out. EDIT: Aw crap, I should have posted this in http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=24058&pid=257794&st=0entry257794 EDIT2: Thanks for the merge Purge. Anyone have any opinions on having a community advertising fund?

I was asked to make mention of this (again?): I have contacted council members (including Ghost Ship, whom I have also e-mailed) a few times within the last few months in attempt to get SSC authorization/access, and have never received a response or indication that they have read my messages. The only time I received a response was when I took aboard Trench Wars (DEV), in which both I and RiiStar pursued its SSC access. When I sent messages out to the council members, all of them (including Ghost Ship) had read their private messages and I received at least two responses about the request being forwarded to the council chambers. Soon after -- a day or two -- I received notice from either one of the council members or from RiiStar (what he was told) that Priit said Trench Wars (DEV) does not need SSC because it is a DEV zone. Also, this proxy idea would open doors to SSC for hosts like I (BlueT). A trusting SSC host of present time could host such program.
-
Off topic, but I have always wondered how one could go about actually utilizing this feature in Continuum. :? This idea of a proxy billing program reminds me of wireless access point/bridge/router devices. I think what Sketter is saying, in case someone does not understand, is that the SSC authorized server hosting the proxy program would act as if it is the machine hosting all the zones that are routing through its proxy program. Not a bad idea. Curious to know what others think... EDIT: I would imagine though that the proxy program would recycle the incoming port from the zone and send the information back to SSC using that port the zone did. If it works like this, then there would not be any port conflicts. The proxy program would just have to disallow duplicate incoming ports. Hmm, interesting..

That is how Snrrrub decided to have current.xml generated. I will not be changing this.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by URL encoding?

Continuum should be available via browser Java/Flash and on cell phones. It should also be available via console (XBox/360, PS2/3, Wii, PSP, etc).
-
The feeling is mutual.
-
Well, I think the only thing that we can do as a community is simply live and continue to bring in fresh blood.
-
Did you personally ask Sharvil for his story? EDIT: I apologize for going off topic, and perhaps I should not even be pushing in this direction. If he wishes to speak for himself here, he has right to do so.
-
Snrrrub succeeded very well in this part.
-
http://ds1.hlrse.net:4989/ Still kind of sorting some issues out. At the moment it is not being monitored by TCAdmin.
-
Only issue with that is security. It would be very easy to steal passwords. It would be BAD. It's not just the password for an alias, some people use the same password for their emails and a bunch of things. The current system is not much safer, since it only relies on trusting the hosts. It's a lazy way to "fix" the problem. This issue would be (from what I hear) pretty easy to fix, but you'd still have to update/replace the whole biller, fix subgame/move everything to ASSS, and update the client. Isn't this where Isometry would have succeeded?
-
Turbo, there's no need to quit due to being discredited. I was quite thankful, regardless of your background, that you came in the way you did with the attitude you had. I think you got some things accomplished here. EDIT: And if it makes you feel better, Priit himself flamed me several years ago for making a bunch of posts on forums via Report Bug/Suggestion link in Continuum. Back then I was the biggest loser in town -- I don't think anyone (including rootbear) has exceeded what I went through.
-
Could run the biller as a service and perhaps somehow configure a whole redundancy solution so that is ServerA goes down, it immediately switches to ServerB, then ServerC, etcetera.
