While I agree with Confess about how it could result in an obvious population increase, I also see truth in what doc flabby says about a cheater going rampant when no moderators are available online. I think both are right. Problem is that there is no guarantee that moderators in all SSC zones would be active 24/7 enough that they can prevent cheaters from going rampant long enough to get people to stop playing the game. I think by lifting all bans, we can filter out a chunk of bans that are truly okay to let go, and for the people who just come back to cheat some more -- well we can just give them their netban back (goes to show that they would rather harm this game more than help it). Perhaps a good point too, but still -- there is no guarantee for 24/7 protection via moderator availability. Unfortunately I think this is mainly the point that makes this whole idea of forgiveness of all bans not viable. It is not a cost effective idea as of present conditions. It would be too big of a risk to make that would become a huge and possibly non-repairable cost if things get bad.
