I think there's a setting somewhere that's not set correctly, or there's something about this that we just don't understand. The daily budget has been exceeded in the past - albeit only by a few tens of cents, regardless, the limit doesn't stop the ads from going over the daily budget. I think you should contact support and tell them what happened, and hopefully get reimburst? You did set the daily budget to 3.50/day but you ALSO made the CPC 3.50. (wouldn't that result in only one click?) Regardless of those two settings it shouldn't have gone over the budget. *Also I'd like to note, you set daily budget to $3.50 and it stopped at $34.17 - possible that you made a typo and put 35.00? Impossible, because I haven't touched the daily budget since I reverted it back to $3.50 from $17.50, and I am the only one with the ability to change those things. My dashboard shows that it is $3.50, not $35.00 (I thought about this possibility too and checked on this earlier). EDIT: Contacted AdWords Support. Awaiting a reply.

lol. Setting the Max Search CPC might have been a bad idea. Google screwed this one up. It used $34.17 on 1/7/2010, even though the daily budget was set to $3.50/day. On the other hand, these clicks might be more meaningful, and average position went up I think.

Obvious feature requests (probably already done): Ability to set percent of transparency/opacity. Ability to specify which color is transparent (useful mostly for BMP and JPG). Ability to set whether it is rendered 'additive' or not. Ability to use animated GIFs. For event triggers like activating a certain object/LVZ/image when someone dies -- the ability to set the animation relative to ships. For example: (1) I have an animation graphic that displays a shockwave, (2) it is a screen object. When someone other than ME gets killed on my screen, I want this animation graphic to play over THEIR ship. How about an option/parameter for screen objects where their x,y coordinate would be relative to (1) self/local ship, (2) teammates, and/or (3) enemies. What if I want this graphic to play only on friendly ships and my own ship? Or what if I want it to play on everyone's ship except mine? How about just enemy ships? I should be able to specify any combination of these three as if flags; the x,y coordinate would be relative to the size of that player's ship (ie. standard size is 32x32, and it would base the x,y coordinates off of a 32x32 grid). One example of play: my ship explosion shockwave might be white colored, whereas friendly ships would have yellow-colored shockwaves, and enemy ships would have red-colored shockwaves. Three unique graphic images would be involved (white, yellow, and red versions of the same render). These would play when they die.

Bleh, it did a daily budget of $17.50 for an extra day. Apparently changes occur 24 hours after making them.

Continuum and Subgame2 have a hardcoded limit of 250 players per arena. Subgame2 will boot everyone off if you, anyone, or a bot joins an arena as its 251st player. Continuum will crash if you try to join as the 251st player. Subgame2 has a hardcoded player limit of 1024 (zone-wide total). I have been unable to figure out the true limitations with ASSS because ASSS is not as capable as Subgame2 out-of-the-box. ASSS out-of-the-box "limit" lies somewhere around 500-512. If an MMO is a game without a player limit, Subspace does not qualify. If an MMO is a game with hundreds of players across multiple or 2+ servers, Subspace qualifies. If an MMO is a game where its servers can hold more than the standard 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256 (reaching), Subspace qualifies. Battlefield 2's maximum player limit for online multiplayer is 256. I know this because I tested it. Works extremely well in enormous maps without latency problems; suffers massive choke when in close quarters because of hardcoded netrate limits. 128-player human servers may be a practical possibility.

Nah, it's safe. Safer than this thread (considering that the word 'penis' pops up several times).

Hmm, well, think about it: if a reCaptcha was added to download the client -- this would only be for marketing purposes by the way -- how many potential players would this fend off? (Simply because they had to try and pass a verification they are human.) I mean, sure, it is rather easy to pass a reCaptcha, but still? :? By the way, spiders and bots generally do not download whole clients (but I might be wrong).

The more advertisements we can come up with, the better because they will cover a broad range and variety of searches and improve page content targeting. Don't be afraid to suggest duplicates with minor variations (such as using one period at the end of a statement versus three periods). In fact, this is even encouraged by Google and those links to advertising tips I provided. There is nothing wrong with making a duplicate of the ones I just created and using "Continuum" instead of "SubSpace." I plan on making a batch of variations of all the current advertising groups later today. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being OCD. Having community input with ANY kind of suggestion and contribution automatically qualifies as a working idea for advertisements. EDIT: Figured out how to quickly create a gigantic batch of duplicates with minor changes. Cloned and made variations such as "SubSpace" "Subspace" "Continuum" "Get SubSpace!" "Get Subspace!" "Get Continuum!" "Play Subspace!" "Play SubSpace!" "Play Continuum!" "Subspace/Continuum" "SubSpace/Continuum" "Continuum/Subspace" "Continuum/SubSpace" ... I think it would be better if you saw the whole list yourself.

Ok! Right now, let's create some more advertisement groups. Think of ideas and some advertisements while reading: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum81/2839.htm http://www.googlelady.com/416/10-killer-headline-adwords-tips/ http://www.googlelady.com/335/51-tips-adwords/ http://www.addme.com/newsletters/issue269.htm http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/static.py?page=tips.html Here are some ones I came up with: Pending approval http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss3.png Added (did not require approval) http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss4.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss5.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss6.png http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss7.png The more advertisements we can come up with, the better because they will cover a broad range and variety of searches and improve page content targeting. I believe so. There are three ad groups -- two of which are text advertisements and the other an image advertisement. If either one or both kinds of advertisements show up in phones, then the answer to your question is absolutely yes. EDIT: In fact, Google Analytics shows that we got ONE visit from an iPhone user on 1/5/2010 ($17.50 budget test). Results for the $17.50 daily budget are in for 1/5/2010; features 191 clicks. Set the Daily Budget back to $3.50, but also set the Max Search CPC to $3.50 from $0.20 (or $0.10 initially).

I was in Verboten too! And The Long Patrol before that, for a very short time. I think I only played one or two league games, if even that. I wasn't much good except maybe as a defender. I do recognize a lot of names here, even though I haven't played SS at all in a few years. I still have a lot of old files, including a zip file with 50 old aswz maps (though many are similar). I attached it here. Thanks!

Reasons people on my list won't join up:1) 2D games? Dude, that's oldschool 2) The unique community politics and drama

Perhaps instead of a (info) there could be a (stats). ds1.krslynx.com is now http://ds1.krslynx.com:4989/ for stats. ;o

Write me a simple Linux shell script! Payment of $5
L.C. replied to L.C.'s topic in General Discussion
Kind of hard to chose which one to use, since they all basically do the same thing. I might be incorrect in my examination of all these scripts, but it does not appear -- by code -- that any of them have flawless support for multiple instances of the same program of different execution locations. If multiple users run the same server program, how would the script tell apart all the duplicate entries (each with a unique PID) from the specific execution it is supposed to monitor? Doc flabby's script does it alright (since it is leeched to the specific location+program it is running), except I cannot get it to run. Monit looks like an excellent program to use -- based on its details, it looks like it meets and exceeds. Though it requires total installation (I am looking for a script). If you run multiple subgame2.exe's on Linux (via Wine), how would the script tell it apart from other instances of subgame2.exe, regardless of which user they might be running on? This is the question. -

It is very likely that the website owner can check. Most webhosts come with some form of statistics generation like AwStats, Analyzer, etc. One of these could tell how many times the file itself was actually downloaded, regardless of everything. This is likely and true no matter who you are advertising with. It is common practice and virtually impossible to stop. Competitors can use spiders against their competitors to use up their funds. The results of 1/5/2010 should be featuring the $17.50 daily budget test. When I set it to that, Google AdWords recommended me a newer and higher budget of something like $83.75. Nothing wrong with this feature though, just now know how it works and what it is for. Technically, it will always keep recommending you a higher and higher budget until you get 100% of the Internet clicking your ads. (Which we know will never happen to anyone.) EDIT: Return visits, nice! Didn't know Analytics tracked that.

Try going to http://www.google.com/analytics and logging in with the same username and password you used to login at http://www.google.com/adwords After logging in, you want to click on View Reports for www.getcontinuum.com and then go to Goals. So unless I set something up incorrectly, then indeed none of the clicks actually download the client. EDIT: Tomorrow I will set the daily budget to $16 for one 6PM-10PM session to see what would happen. EDIT2: After that I will set it back to $3.50 for a few more days and also run the maximum search CPC at $1.00 instead of $0.10 and see how much of a difference it would make in results.

Write me a simple Linux shell script! Payment of $5
L.C. replied to L.C.'s topic in General Discussion
I do not need a script for a specific application. The purpose of the script of my request is for general-purpose gameserver hosting. That means it should be a script that works for any application. It should be configurable to a specific gameserver application, in which it will monitor for. Your script appears, to me, as if it were written for only 1 unique instance of a program. It would not work for general purpose because gameservers are generally expected to run multiple installations of the same program. I intend to use this script for anything-on-Linux gameserver hosting as a substitute for ServerDoc/TCAdmin -- neither of which really exist for Linux. -
Unless you buy a license to Source engine, you must own a Valve game that is based off of Source engine. I might be wrong, but taking this route would require players to spend $$$. Valve isn't going to let anybody access the Source engine for free. EDIT: Idea is interesting though.
