IP.Board http://forums.sscentral.com/ Benefits: Clean, lots of updates, we own a lifetime updates (no tech support) license (although if they ever go back to tech support updating, we'll have to pay for updates... so gay), trying to simplify skin making for users. Cons: No usergroups like phpBB or vBulletin. Pretty much vBulletin without a lot of features phpBB shares with them. Loads of bug upgrades. I have to admin people just to be able to give them power to control a usergroup, luckily I can limit their admin capabilities, but still a security threat. ------------------------------- vBulletin http://www.sscentral.com/vb/ Benefits: What SSForum originally was started with. Lots of zones use either phpBB or vBulletin, and both share a lot of common features/structures from my knowledge. Could give (multiple) people ownership of usergroups, and no longer have to worry about admin security breaches. Can still give limited admin control as needed though. Has a moderator control panel to more easily find a lot of the daily mod duties, ability to do announcements, etc. Same structure of forum view as IPB, but kind of more condensed, feals like 1 forum community, not all broken up. Cons: $165 for an owned license, not all that bad. Converting the database could cause some errors, but shouldn't be TOO bad. Have to get use to new software. ------------------------------- This is just mostly to gauge interest after recent discussions and such. I'd honestly love to go back to vBulletin as their admin section gave a lot more control over the forums than IPB does without hacks, and it allows for a lot more security with not having to give admin to zone forum owners (which without, forum admins would have to be on 24/7 for any issues with people being removed or added or what not).
