  1. Not when I have 6 people able to access the ACP outside of admins so they can control their forum usergroups... CybeRise sold Subspace.net to GodSpeedJam!!He Demanded Admin or he'd take our license and change the domain and report us. Cybe wasn't around, no way to confirm he had also gotten license with purchase. Our DB was so corrupted it popped up all sorts of errors all the time, so we changed to phpBB, and when the conversion lost tons of data, we just started over. That sucked, so went to IPB. This db we use now is actually a phpBB db converted to IPB. License issues. At the time IPB was free.vBulletin updates are typically minor, and unneeded for long amounts of time. And most their updates can be done by just modifying the files. They typically post a download with all the information on file changes, etc. IPB does the same, yes, but always modifies like 50 files+ per update, and it breaks everything anyways.uBB was the same way, and vBulletin has followed their nature with updates. IPB is VERY new compared to most major forum systems.
  2. IP.Board http://forums.sscentral.com/ Benefits: Clean, lots of updates, we own a lifetime updates (no tech support) license (although if they ever go back to tech support updating, we'll have to pay for updates... so gay), trying to simplify skin making for users. Cons: No usergroups like phpBB or vBulletin. Pretty much vBulletin without a lot of features phpBB shares with them. Loads of bug upgrades. I have to admin people just to be able to give them power to control a usergroup, luckily I can limit their admin capabilities, but still a security threat. ------------------------------- vBulletin http://www.sscentral.com/vb/ Benefits: What SSForum originally was started with. Lots of zones use either phpBB or vBulletin, and both share a lot of common features/structures from my knowledge. Could give (multiple) people ownership of usergroups, and no longer have to worry about admin security breaches. Can still give limited admin control as needed though. Has a moderator control panel to more easily find a lot of the daily mod duties, ability to do announcements, etc. Same structure of forum view as IPB, but kind of more condensed, feals like 1 forum community, not all broken up. Cons: $165 for an owned license, not all that bad. Converting the database could cause some errors, but shouldn't be TOO bad. Have to get use to new software. ------------------------------- This is just mostly to gauge interest after recent discussions and such. I'd honestly love to go back to vBulletin as their admin section gave a lot more control over the forums than IPB does without hacks, and it allows for a lot more security with not having to give admin to zone forum owners (which without, forum admins would have to be on 24/7 for any issues with people being removed or added or what not).

  4. I'll share my opinion later, curious to hear yours 1st.
  5. Rudy, if you don't mind, I might make a new sticky about zone bans in here and put everyone's e-mail. So if you could keep me updated on TW's, since it seems to be the only one I know of that changes, that'd be great. Thanks.
  6. Fixed it. Made it Poll only.
  7. Slysoft's software hasn't ever been the best, nor the worse. But I don't think it is any different than any of the other virtual cd drive programs out there. Sounds like it just does the work of creating the ISO and doing that for you.
  8. It was 800ish posts behind that one, and numerous behind many many others... Close though. And really, many zones have them... !@#$%^&*, EG's is around 3000ish posts now I think? So we're not even close.
  9. I had thought about that mod, but it is far too open. And your sub forum wouldn't be under your forum, or else, EVERYONE's forum would be under there, that is the main issue. Although I still have thought about it for squads.
  10. The issue with a group based forum, is there is no way for YOU to manage who is in the group, and WE don't exactly have the time, nor want to constantly be adding or deleting people. This is why none of my admins replied to you. Would be nice if IPB had this option available, but sadly, it does not. passwords suck, yes, but we have no issue hopping on at notice to change it. Lemme know what you decide.
  11. no... not a per user option.
  12. That is even worse... We had phpBB before... and vBulletin vBulletin was the best.
  13. He has played once or twice, but been busy. Not sure what alias he uses now, I had him sign up as JoeBlan.
  14. yes
  15. Sorry I didn't get a chance to do it. Been soo busy with forum update bugs and all sorts of !@#$%^&*... I swear, IPB is going downhill.
  16. hmm.. neither do I, and I was getting it. The issue was a table in the db dissapeared, I restored it. But Fast Reply still kills the php NL2BR function. Only when posted soon after with no reply though. TOOO IPB this error goes.
  17. 1. It was not allowed. 2.3.0 had a bug where permissions allowed it. Fixed it with 2.3.1 2. In the past, have had many issues with malicious code on other forums, so from day 1, SSCentral + Subspace.net/SSForum/Forum Central have never allowed it. It got turned on by accident recently for a while in sigs, but that was fixed. Never allowed in posts.
  18. Ok. So it is when you post too soon with no reply, and it merges the posts, it is not doing the NL2BR function. Gonna have to look into this.
  19. Interesting..... yo
  20. Me? No. I've only deleted one of my own, someone else cleaned house. Trust me, after the long as reply I just typed, why would I delete it? Edit: NVM, read your reply now.
  21. !@#$%^&*, Reply to grav gone...? Eh. Well.... I guess that ends that... Seems thread got cleanerized... -------------------------------- Grav... The point of the spotlight in this is the game. So lets just leave it at that. Pretty much what my long !@#$%^&* post said, beyond defending myself... -------------------------------- The Rest... Spread the word. As Grav pointed out, I have found it on no other forums. People have contacted me in game, saying Good Job, so it is spreading somehow, but not really enough. Honestly, don't care if it spreads in game either, advertise the entire article on forums, spread word about it, get knowledge about the game out, the best we can do.
  22. I'll break it down for you... Meaning contacting them by phone, mail, or e-mail and har!@#$%^&*ing them. This you did not do, so we ignore it. The 1st part was added after the whole SSCX fiasco obviously. But if you notice what I bolded, it might give more input. It does not say 'This is limited to' or 'Contacting ISPs...', it says 'Examples'. Now, lets look up the meaning of Examples: Now, reading this, we can figure that the "Examples" given are just 'representatives of a group' or 'one serving as a pattern of a specific kind'. Your actions we're part of the group represented and we're part of the same pattern. So thus, the ban was legit. Explained a bit better for you?

    404 Error

Well, you made it here... What is the websites your attempting to visit?
  25. On another note, even though SSCentral.com was mentioned, the main site is still only pushing in the 15,000hit/day range... no changes really at all. The forums on the other hand have dropped a tiny bit, but that is probably just do to summer vacation, nothing related.
