  1. Discussion About World Events hmm... Maybe just make that the !@#$%^&*le. Edit: How's That? Edit2: Actually, Planet Earth is better. Keeps with the "SS" Theme.

    SSC-Ban

Ok. Now your becoming an annoyance to me. 1. You got info about a TW Mod, and began telling everyone you had it. You got banned for it, rightfully by TW Zone Rules. Me and Mike are both Ex-TW Staff, pre-Rudy even, and know what their rules are. 2. This is a net-bannable offense, and no doubt after being bugged, Rudy finally got tired of it, and going with the SSC Guidelines, not just his zone's, net-bans you. 3. You come here and bug us, complain, and act like the innocent in this one, hoping we'll think Rudy is evil or something, and side with you. Instead, we stand by the guidelines, and you continue to whine and complain. 4. Net-Ban is lifted, did not have to be, and than you begin to bug Rudy again, the guy just wants some peace. So out of frustration, replaces the net-ban, that did not need to be lifted mind you, to get that peace. 5. Now you continue to come here, the BanG Ops have told you all he has done is legit. Get told to wait it out, all is legit, and continue to complain and make another thread after yours was closed. The Net-Ban lasts 5 days, you come back, you leave Rudy be, and in his own words, even then your local ban might be lifted. If this topic gets closed, you drop the !@#$%^&*, or else you won't even have these forums to communicate your problems with. Thanks.
  3. Mmk, was just making sure you had everything in there. So Continuum.exe has NO permissions to write any files. That is pretty much what I am getting here. Macro, Profile, and Keyboard .dat files are created on the 1st run. Zones.dat we include just to keep a decently updated zones list on there. Hmm... I am really trying to figure out why it would not be allowed to write files now...
  4. Wait a second... what folders are in the Continuum directory (folder)?
  5. Well, the folder will always say read-only, I should of said the continuum directory files, sorry.Make sure they are not read-only. Zone.dat, Macro.dat, Keyboard.dat, and Profile.dat Edit: Hidden? Why would they be hidden...
  6. It honestly sounds like for some reason continuum's folder is installing as read-only, or not permitted for you to write in it. I can't remember if it has the option for install for all users on computer, make sure that is oked. Make sure the folder isn't marked read-only also.
  7. Right there is typically caused by playing Continuum with Run As or not having admin rights. http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=13180 Look through the programs list in this thread. It has a lot of common programs that do not allow continuum to run. Either allow it in them (if possible) or try shutting them off and see if it works. If it does, than that is your issue. It is a sad issue, but nothing we can do until our programmer finds time for us to resolve it.
  8. Computer Specs? Do you have administrator access?
  9. Anyone mind posting these to IPB for me? Bug 1: Moderating Groups do not have full and correct moderating powers. Cannot Full Edit closed topics, and Quick Edit dies on closed topics. Have to open to full edit. Bug 2: Replying too soon after own post with quotes, or fast replying too soon after own post kills NL2BR function. Makes all posts 1 line, no spaces either.
  10. haha... you mean Groupee as they like to be called now? Was reading bout it on I think it was yaxay a few weeks back. Their software kind of got buggy and went downhill, so they became a Myspace/LiveJournal wannabe site that still puts out their software... Pretty sad in my eyes. I use to love their software, but than it just became so easy to hack into and such, it just got old.
  11. Not when I have 6 people able to access the ACP outside of admins so they can control their forum usergroups... CybeRise sold Subspace.net to GodSpeedJam!!He Demanded Admin or he'd take our license and change the domain and report us. Cybe wasn't around, no way to confirm he had also gotten license with purchase. Our DB was so corrupted it popped up all sorts of errors all the time, so we changed to phpBB, and when the conversion lost tons of data, we just started over. That sucked, so went to IPB. This db we use now is actually a phpBB db converted to IPB. License issues. At the time IPB was free.vBulletin updates are typically minor, and unneeded for long amounts of time. And most their updates can be done by just modifying the files. They typically post a download with all the information on file changes, etc. IPB does the same, yes, but always modifies like 50 files+ per update, and it breaks everything anyways.uBB was the same way, and vBulletin has followed their nature with updates. IPB is VERY new compared to most major forum systems.
  12. IP.Board http://forums.sscentral.com/ Benefits: Clean, lots of updates, we own a lifetime updates (no tech support) license (although if they ever go back to tech support updating, we'll have to pay for updates... so gay), trying to simplify skin making for users. Cons: No usergroups like phpBB or vBulletin. Pretty much vBulletin without a lot of features phpBB shares with them. Loads of bug upgrades. I have to admin people just to be able to give them power to control a usergroup, luckily I can limit their admin capabilities, but still a security threat. ------------------------------- vBulletin http://www.sscentral.com/vb/ Benefits: What SSForum originally was started with. Lots of zones use either phpBB or vBulletin, and both share a lot of common features/structures from my knowledge. Could give (multiple) people ownership of usergroups, and no longer have to worry about admin security breaches. Can still give limited admin control as needed though. Has a moderator control panel to more easily find a lot of the daily mod duties, ability to do announcements, etc. Same structure of forum view as IPB, but kind of more condensed, feals like 1 forum community, not all broken up. Cons: $165 for an owned license, not all that bad. Converting the database could cause some errors, but shouldn't be TOO bad. Have to get use to new software. ------------------------------- This is just mostly to gauge interest after recent discussions and such. I'd honestly love to go back to vBulletin as their admin section gave a lot more control over the forums than IPB does without hacks, and it allows for a lot more security with not having to give admin to zone forum owners (which without, forum admins would have to be on 24/7 for any issues with people being removed or added or what not).

  14. I'll share my opinion later, curious to hear yours 1st.
  15. Rudy, if you don't mind, I might make a new sticky about zone bans in here and put everyone's e-mail. So if you could keep me updated on TW's, since it seems to be the only one I know of that changes, that'd be great. Thanks.
  16. Fixed it. Made it Poll only.
  17. Slysoft's software hasn't ever been the best, nor the worse. But I don't think it is any different than any of the other virtual cd drive programs out there. Sounds like it just does the work of creating the ISO and doing that for you.
  18. It was 800ish posts behind that one, and numerous behind many many others... Close though. And really, many zones have them... !@#$%^&*, EG's is around 3000ish posts now I think? So we're not even close.
  19. I had thought about that mod, but it is far too open. And your sub forum wouldn't be under your forum, or else, EVERYONE's forum would be under there, that is the main issue. Although I still have thought about it for squads.
  20. The issue with a group based forum, is there is no way for YOU to manage who is in the group, and WE don't exactly have the time, nor want to constantly be adding or deleting people. This is why none of my admins replied to you. Would be nice if IPB had this option available, but sadly, it does not. passwords suck, yes, but we have no issue hopping on at notice to change it. Lemme know what you decide.
  21. no... not a per user option.
  22. That is even worse... We had phpBB before... and vBulletin vBulletin was the best.
  23. He has played once or twice, but been busy. Not sure what alias he uses now, I had him sign up as JoeBlan.
  24. yes
