Yes, you heard right. Our IPB install has broken itself. How, I have yet to figure out. I tried re-downloading all the files, and uploading em.. still all the same bugs. I re-downloaded the forum central db through the forum, and through phpMyAdmin, neither fixed the bugs in a trial test. I have moved many forums across servers (only this and 1 other across domains) for people, and never ran into such issues before. I am really baffled on this one. We are pushing our 4th year on a phpBB converted DB, and I think that is starting to show. With so many changes IPB has gone through, I have seen many larger forums struggle with issues, and now see why. There is no reason for anything not working to not work. The only choice I can now see is a fresh install of all the files. This would mean the Arcade, SSRPG, mods, and skins (which currently can't seem to be retrieved anyways) would be whiped. We'd start from ground zero on those. The db is fine, fully intact, size matches to the forum central down to a .1kb, so I know the problem does no lay there. I am going to discuss this issue with Syrus, and go from there.

To get to the point... Subspace.net is useless to us. Before the sale, we updated all the links we could find to it from gaming sites to SSCentral.com or SSDownloads.com. Subspace.net was down, so it was decided to do so, !@#$%^&*, some point to ssforum.net. So any that still point to the ssnet domain, we can fix, or are not needed. The only thing he'll get is players going down memory lane, who'll find subspace is "gone" and won't return. The important domain is Subspacehq, not Subspace.net. The domain that was featured on ZDNet; Linked on IGN, Gamepro, etc.; and that was the main site of all the old news stories and new players. Yes, subspace.net kept alive longer, and brought more traffic in its later days, but beyond that, if anyone was to still find our game by these stories or anything, they'd end up there. So really, whining about needing subspace.net back is pointless, as SubspaceHQ was the site for Subspace as we knew it. Subspace.net was the site for continuum, as it mostly began getting a lot of its traffic around this time. Sadly, SSHQ has been lost, and it is what we should really focus on retrieving in the future.

As long as it doesn't apply to guests, tech support will be fine. The captcha system has knocked out 99% of spam there, proving the previous spam was nothing more than bots.

Aegis wing? huh? I do?

Later today, now that the DNS has updated, I will be moving the forums back to SSForum.net. I want to wait til a low time in activity to do it, and a time when I have some free time. Gotta go look at some apartments and a few houses today, but I will work on it once I get a chance to drop by my parents to use my computer. I don't have any of the stuff on my gf's laptop. And I have a slower upload speed here compared to home. Some updates coming: hyperspace.ssforum.net -> ssforum.net/hs complex.ssforum.net -> ssforum.net/tc utzone.ssforum.net -> ssforum.net/ut etc. etc. Going to try and REALLY manipulate mod_rewrite and the ipb software to make ssforum.net/hs/(topicid) to work all right, and to get the software to manipulate things right. But that will come in time, and is what I was hoping to do with the domain that I can't as easily with the subdomain. forums.sscentral.com/hs/topicid would just be soo long and stupid. This is only if HS would like this of course, and the other zones. So we'll see what happens. All for now.

We already left TWSites.com, just had not finished. As much as we love DoCk>, we ran into 1 too many times of our sites being down, the ftp locking/clogging up after transfering so many files (takes 5-6 retries to get ALL of the ipb files uploaded), and just other little things. Doesn't feel right leeching off of people to me when I know I have the money to pay for it. So we got our own vps for our projects.
-
What is up... SSForum.net's dns is updating. The domain was still on our account at TWSites.com that we have neglected to clean out and have removed. So it and many of our other project domains from there, and another server are being moved to a new server. SSCentral will probably follow suit soon if things work well. We love the free hosting TT has given us, but we don't feel right putting all of our projects on here, and it'd just be a mess with how we do things with SSCentral and all having them piled in the whm too. We also decided to try out a new Control Panel. Cpanel is great and all, but there are others worth looking at, and Interworx has always interested me. A lot more well laid out. The way the Siteworx control panel login works I dislike, but the way it is all organized, laid out, and controlled I like a lot so far. Again, this doesn't mean sscentral will move, but we are moving all our other domains off of TWSites.com and such, to close those accounts.

subspace.net, subspacehq.com, sscontinuum.com, etc

<? header('Location: http://www.getcontinuum.com'); ?> But close enough. -
that mobo is too old to support sata 3Gb/s (300MB/s). Leave the Pin in, or you'll get all sorts of errors. 1.5Gigabits/second = 150Megabytes/second 78Megabytes/second = the maximum sustained, or constant transfer. If I remember right, the 150MB/s = the speed data is passed between the memory and hard drive, and 78MB/s = the transfer from 1 hard drive to another, or cd-rom to hard drive.

MM... just finally read this thread... here is another one... for those trying to read through past net-bans and such... ?listban -* #id #wanted IE: ?listban -* #2200 20 :: Will list 20 net-bans starting from #2200. Not sure how well known, but figured i'd share it. There was another syntax to cause that also, more of a bug, but I forget how.

Well, the thing is, SSForum.net is still on the twsites account hosting a couple of sites. No issues there. I have a server using a sscentral.com subdomain for a domain alias and all, and recently it itself was being hit by traffic, spam, and hack attempts. The firewall log is pages long. Now, I'm not 100% sure if it is continuuing on the main domain, TT hasn't imed me about it anymore. But the bot spam is continuuing. So it is all in relation to the sscentral.com domain itself. The new style is nice, yes, but what is the point if everyone is typing www.ssforum.net anyways. Literally, 9/10 people I talk to, type www.ssforum.net.

Noone has any clue who did it. I mentioned it to GS, but he didn't know who updated it all either. So this bumping is pointless. Topic closed since it has died off.

you mean 3gb/s not 300gb/s. Does your motherboard support 1.5gb/s Sata or 3gb/s Sata II? if the 1st, you need to jumper it to make it run properly at 1.5gb/s. if the 2nd, than what are you transfering from and to? Could also be causing the issues.

Oh... and to Register, you have to do Captcha, Tell how many ships in Subspace/Continuum, and E-mail Verification... So we know the 2-3 spam accounts we run into daily, are people, not bots.

I know we just had a poll about this, but moving it to general. I think these reasons give a bit more insight on my thoughts lately. Moved: Hidden Lounge -> General

1. I think the spamming has to do honestly, with all the attacks on SSCentral.com. It'd seem we have been having all sorts of attacks, hack attempts, and DoSs attempts (one that was VERY close to taking the server down) lately. Around this same time, we have had tons of spam members joining left and right. To the point I have even debated doing admin verification of new members (won't, but debated). 2. Honestly, it is what most people know these forums as. Yes, I was able to boost traffic as Forums.SSCentral.com and get a lot of people here, but most members still just type http://www.ssforum.net to get here. 3. Mod_Rewrite would allow me to do a lot of nice things for zone forums. IE: masking, or making a shorter url to their forums, etc. Rather than just a redirect. 4. It feels like a waste trying to keep a domain alive just to have it redirect. We lose it, we lose the menu redirects on continuum, all the links around ss, and someone could take it, and do some malicious things with it to unknowing players. Opinions?

subspace.net, subspacehq.com, sscontinuum.com, etc
PoLiX replied to L.C.'s topic in General Discussion
http://www.subspace.net - Owned by AhmedF. Wonderer was able to bargain with him having it mirror GetContinuum.com, but seems he has either changed it, or we now know where Wonderer has gone. http://www.subspacehq.com - Minibari Warship went missing a long time ago, and we lost ds98.com and its servers. Luckily mackie got him to point it after lots of e-mailing I'd guess, but than the domain expired, and Minibari has still never been heard from. http://www.sscontinuum.com - D+ and Gameplay got a divorce. So D+ is trying to build http://www.subspace.ws into something, but according to Rowen, it'd seem it isn't going anywhere at the moment. -
Wee... almost got my computer back up and running. Gotta love when your C drive oddly corrupts, and when you go into XP Repair and try to dir the C drive, it shows nothing, and when reinstalling xp, it shows only 1mb used on C:\. Atleast my D drive is fine, so all my do!@#$%^&*ents and program files we're saved, gotta love that... grr.

Due to my lack of time lately, I haven't been able to put almost any time or effort into the forums, and honestly, I think it shows as of late. So I decided to re-admin Syrus to take over running things day to day around here. Will help me in my other needs/projects for the site. He's in charge, so his word goes as mine or swift's would.

Meh. Why spend your life worrying about where you came from or where you are going. If there is a God, I believe he'd rather we just live our lives over worshiping him, and spending all our time debating this !@#$%^&*. One of my favorite poems. My grandparents, who are highly religious mind you, have this in their bathroom in front of the toilet, so you can't miss reading it.

Not sure how entertaining everyone else will find it, but I found it funny.
