A few people had asked if there was anywhere signatures we're shown in player profiles, and after a bit of looking, I found a mod to do so. Just click the signature tab, and it will display their signature.

Buddy of mine had this same issue... trying to remember how we fixed it. Was just something stupid that had set itself... i'll see if he remembers.

Well, the purpose of The Wormhole was where topics would go to die, or just be spammed or flamed to death. But it seems lately it has just pulled all discussion from General. So I have set it so that no new topics can be posted, but you can still reply, and guests can too. As you know, we've always been pretty lenient on what we move/delete/lock, so if it is going to do one of the last 2, it will be moved there instead. Rather than just locking a topic, unless requested by the topic poster, we'll just move it to The Wormhole to be continued out of site of those not wanting to see it anymore (IE: all the Halo drama stuff). Just going to be a trial to see how it works out. If all goes good, then fine. But if the Guest posting gets out of hand, or the amount of spam or trash topics in general, than we'll just work other things out. I don't see enough new threads in there that couldn't have been in general in the 1st place anyways.

Everyone is always asked at some point "Would you die for your family?". Most say yes, but you never know if you really would, or have to face this. umm, cause we never had a big influx from that really. I know you've stated you we're never around than, but in Late 2000-Early 2001, most of SSCX spent hrs in spec. The server wasn't ready for the huge influx of players it took. EG alone went from 60-250avg peak in only a matter of months. Subspace was premiered on ZDTV and it was a HUGE killer to the servers, and they were not prepared for it. So we could honestly experience the same issues if we weren't ready.

Since my name keeps coming up in this, I'll say this. Me and Swift's stand is that even if this game dies, our site will not. The game is going to go down whatever path it wants, but our only main care and focus is this site. We both gave up anything we had to do with administration or "power" as you might call it, inside the game, and honestly, I know I speak for myself, as well as swift, when I say we want nothing to do with it anymore. Dealing with getting this site re-organized is a job in itself. The major clean up I just did was an 8hr job, maybe more even. All the errors I ran into, the issues, the bugs, etc. But all is whiped, clean, and fresh. Everything is back up and running fine, and in some cases, better than before. ------- Onto the subject of doing this period. It'd be a very bad idea to bring attention to us in this big way again. Yes, it would be nice to get population back, but we are going to have to find other means beyond going BIG on 1 site. Just advertise over tons of little sites, and let people know. If we go big, and whoever owns Subspace notices us, and wants to maybe take advantage of our new found player base/fame, than we might just end up !@#$%^&* !@#$%^&*ing ourselves more than helping. Cause as SVS has said once or twice: We still don't know 100% if Continuum isn't just a hacked Subspace client. We all know the capabilities Priit has; just look at Subgame or what he did with the Subbill for more proof of that. So it is very possible we could just screw ourselves over more than help.

If I don't put in the config file http://forums.sscentral.com/ it makes the admin section all !@#$%^&*ed up. Not sure wth is up yet. Gonna ask on the IPB forums and see if anyone has any answers. Yeah, the emoticons are acting funny, but I've actually heard a few people say stuff bout that, so gonna look round and see if anything major or if simple solution or something on our part. I wanted to squash all these bugs before IPB 2.2 Final, cause it'd be better to have them all out and gone when Syrus goes to work on a skin, if he still plans to.

We've gone Live with 2.2 RC3. You'll notice right away a lot of feature changes. Some, but not all: BB Code, Friends, Profile Page, New Posting Interface, and much more. There is some minor bugs here and there I'm working to squash, and IPB 2.2 Final will squash, but all is running good and well. The software worked great in a closed environment, now to test it in an open environment. Any bugs, errors, or questions feel free to post them here.

Tonight I am going to copy the forum db, and clean it out. I will then install 2.2 RC3 and upgrade using the new db, and see how things go. If all runs fine and clean, I will go live with 2.2 RC3 by tomorrow. I want to see if this fixes any functionality, and/or speeds up the forums at all.

You know, it seems it stopped since the recent upgrade. That may have something to do with it. Guess we'll see when 2.2 comes out.
