EVGA GeForce 7600 GT / 256MB GDDR3 / SLI / PCI Express / Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card Exact card I was lookin at. I know your an old CS 1.6 fan, and so was my buddy. He was pullin like 190 fps at 1024x768 in that !@#$%^&*, haha. CS:S pulls round 110 and I think at 1280x1024, he was pullin 70-80fps. but that does also depend on the hardware. But yours choices are right there with his. Sata I or Sata II hd? I myself decided to just be cheap, and by some Arctic 5 adhesive, Thermaltake cooler, and a P4 3.0ghz processor. Gonna just glue the heatsink to the processor, since the clip on the mobo broke. The mobo now honestly seems "stable", but eh. It is socket 478, so options are limited. They don't make any socket 478 mobos easily available anymore, and I'm not gonna just throw out the 4sticks/2.5gbs of PC3200 ram to get the LGA775; or even just downgrade to 2gbs of ram. I don't know any computer savvy people, so can't sell the !@#$%^&*.

heh. It happens.

Yeah. I knew that. But would be nice to be re-incorporated again. Was just an example of features unused hidden in there.

Cheat and get caught in some other games is worse. Like steam, you can never play any Vac secure servers again, and sometimes if a bad enough infraction, they close your account. Your out all the cash you spent on the games, and your !@#$%^&*ed. Atleast this one is free.

Well, the other day I wanted the continuum logo and sound, so I opened it in reshacker, and noticed a few other oddities, nothin big. Well, I was bored again, and had an old hex editor around, and was curious where the "Zone Warning" message comes from anyways. "This name has too many points to play in the selected zone. It is intended for new players only. Please choose another." "Your connection appears to be too slow to play in selected zone. If problem persists, seek help at the Tech Support Forums found at www.subspacehq.com" "This name has not logged enough playing hours to enter this zone. Try again when you have more playing time. See zone website for more info (Web Links menu). Meanwhile, please try another zone." Just found it interesting how many un-added hidden features we continue to find. Makes me wonder more about server side things we haven't found yet.

Quick Edit Bug.. my two cents (merge that with the other)
PoLiX replied to Samapico's topic in General Discussion
mhmm. That one was known. But his seems to be unrelated. I plan to get a VPS for SSCentral in the coming months. That way we can control everything, and set what we need. We're not a huge hosting company like TWSites/Nurples.com is, so we don't have to worry as much about a lot of these things they have locked down. Lot of things I plan to tweak for Developers/Zones sake, like SQL connection and such. -
Well, I need to make a new installer anyways. Remember when Wonderer's installed the sound to the Windows dir? Almost 3000 downloads between GetContinuum, SSDL, and SSCentral on that one. Still finding newbs here and there who say they've never had working sound, and help em fix it. But yeah. I plan to make a new installer with updates to it. I hope before then that all SSC zones can setup dns. Been buggin a few about it, so when they're zone's ip or port changes, it goes through the DNS and updates it when the dir server is down, so they don't end up with a half red zone list. Anyways. Beethoven, Your a mod, so .37 will allow you to connect, but .37 was the 1 client which produced this problem the most. So don't even think of using it. As Mav said, what resolutions are you running? Try running the same resolution, color depth, and make sure in Advanced Options "Avoid Page Flipping, No Framerate Limit, and Disable Clipping" are checked. This fixed it for many reporting your problem also. I noticed you recently posted a "Best Settings" or something like that in EG's general forum, and had those unchecked in Adv Settings. That is the 1 thing that causes more screen bugs for people than anything, and those 90% of the time fixed it.

You obviously have not read the thread. Continuum DID NOT WORK ON VISTA BETA Continuum DOES WORK IN VISTA RETAIL (ie the one you can buy in the shop and is installed on new computers) If continuum runs on 5 different computers with different hardware. thats a pretty good indication it will work on most machines. The idea of windows or any OS is that if software runs on one machine it will run on ALL of them. I think vista will cause less problems because AV software can't mess about like it can in xp and cause the 100% cpu usage issues. Continuum doesn't load on some computers even with XP. I think the Tech Support forum will show that. And we've found more and more lately, that sometimes it isn't even spyware and such causing it. I've received a lot of pms and e-mails (Some reason people e-mail me back/pm me back on the auto welcome PM) of people with technical issues, or still having issues and our tech support 'Can't seem to help'. Sadly, they can only do what they can, as any of us. We have no major fixes, just have to continually find work arounds. So it is possible Vista can still cause issues, and people are just going to blame it on Vista alone, not the possibility it is the same issues people are having with XP. That aside, it is still possible that Vista with certain Video Cards or Chipsets could kill continuum. I couldn't play on my ASUS board, but my AsRock one it loaded just fine, 2 different chipsets, all I could ever figure.

Modular Support. Honestly, I think if the client itself was kept closed source, but had modular abilities, it would be cool. Like an editable player module, and then zones can load modules to work with ASSS modules, and totally change some aspects. That'd be awesome. Would add abilities to add more ships, or change ships totally, etc. Would open up a lot more functionality, and would be a huge move for the game. But for now, not sure. But at the moment, it has the most dev of the 3 clients, and maybe it won't be the future, but I still will support it.
-
Not even going to get into this debate. But I am showing the 3 clients, and I am going to do it somehow. Swift brought up the same issue, so I plan to find some way to incorporate it. We as a player base gave huge support to continuum, and it kept the project alive and running. I hope to see the same come out of Discretion. If you read all my posts, you'd understand what is going to go in there. I don't want to follow the normal, I want to be different. And an Idea Bajan had is in my mind. "The Heart of Subspace War", well wth is the battle scenes? HINT Left - Users Online | Center - "Don't have Continuum? Download it here and join the fun" somethin along those lines | Right - Players Online Yeah. I've always been good at logos, and other parts of design, get a lot of detail into it. But when it comes to the content areas, I'm always lacking. Cause I want to keep them simple, but eye catching, and always spend the most time on that part of the design. Thnx.

It is pretty much the same once I add the text back and the fighting ships into the logo. 1st looked too plain, like the bar under the logo was 10px bigger and just plain and nothin planned to go on it. This one I have plans for the white sections on it. And the left and right border, rather then just being a simple 4px line border has some character to it now. What I'm enjoying about all of it, is it is mostly just a 1px design. Beyond the logo, it has just been using a 1x1 pencil, and doing a lot of tedious drawing. But that is how I use to design, and I feel more comfortable and fine with it again. I remember people use to love my tilesets, but never believed I did most of the work in tileedit (love that program still to this day).

Do what you gotta do. Your a reliable staff member, and so you will stay. I'll just add 1 more to help cover if seems needed.
-
Updated: Changes: Background - Issues brought up by swift Border - Issues brought up by a few people Logo - Personal Issues with the text Content Layout - Dislike by a few people, so will make another attempt Don't have a lot of time over the next few days to spend on it, but will do what I can when I can.

The logo Bak has has it Yellow, so I put it yellow.
-
the nav bar will be the entire width of the browser. That was just to pull the design of the site in to match it. http://www.subspace.ws - Like that.
-
So I haven't designed in ages, and as you've seen with the nav bar, it takes me a lot of tinkering to pull something sweet outta my !@#$%^&*. This is maybe 25mins of work. I scrapped 3 previous versions, and then finally pulled the nav bar into the design and followed it. It needs a lot more work done... Logo is going to have more detail into it (tiny ships battling), and the layout can be modified some. But so far the idea I'm going for. Right now my eyes are doing their normal "you've been looking at photoshop for over and hr, so we're gonna tweak out and make things spin" thing, so stopped for now. I WANT INPUT, BAD OR GOOD - Updated Jan 14th Input: Colors to add, or if colorful enough. Maybe ideas for how to do links/news layout. As I've said, only 20-25mins of work, cause my head is gettin to me. But do you guys like the idea of where it is going? I plan to make the headers for sections pretty detailed also. News will probably have some tiny chat lines in it, technical a blown up ship, etc.

Me, at the time, there wasn't many other zones outside VIE's servers. SSX !EXTREME GAMES! just stood out and the name sounded cool. Nothing big on population, but with a name like that, had to be something interesting in it. Been my home zone for years now.

... Wow' date=' gj Polix. [/b'] ... The BOLDED parts are the ones that have really kept me from finishing/fixing the following: do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="t3g">T3 The Gauntlet (SSC)</option>'); do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</optgroup>'); /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<optgroup label="---------------------------------------">'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="nonssc_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_2">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="ssdc_3">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="sst_1">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('<option value="sst_2">Zone Name</option>'); */ /* do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</optgroup>'); */ do!@#$%^&*ent.writeln('</select>'); It came up in discussion, and the idea was with my code update to add them, but how does "Screw you PoLiX", make me care to do anything? Just because I say I don't want to keep up with it, doesn't mean someone else won't step up and do it, or talk me into it, which the later was the outcome. But hey... I'm self-centered, and have fully rejected all non-ssc zones, yep.

Not a lot anyone can do. It was the same issue when ThePlanet began having some lag issues, and lot of servers we're based out of it. The downside to no longer having servers spread throughout the country.
-
Any info you can give us on the laptops?

This is the one post that is the only one that made no sense to me. SVS has always used the same idea of tiles, shared bases, map ideas, and all use the same basic setting ideas... I don't get it...
