most people like a rumble with 16 people over a rumble with 4 people. most people like -*BAD WORD*- with 20 people instead of 10 most people like JWL (when it's randomly hosted, not teh actual league games) with 6 teams of 4 instead of 4 teams of 3. most people like blitz when there's 10 people, not 4 most people like pub when there's 30 people playing, not 10. sometimes we have enough for having the really good killer events, but more often than not we are stuck with small games in arenas that are alot more fun with more people. the trick is getting people to come to the zone and stay, so that when things get hosted we have more people in teh zone to go play the events that get hosted. sbl and sbljav would get hosted alot less often if we had 16 people who wanted to play events instead of 8 all the time. the key to getting people to STAY in the zone IS public, as the only people who stay in the zone and stay in spec are people who are hanging around for events to happen. new players aren't likely to do that. if you dont care about getting new players, you're basically saying you prefer small scale battles. and if you like that, go to the svs leagues, you'll be happier in the long run. im no sysop, i dont make settings, in fact i'm pretty much a nobody but this makes a -*BAD WORD*- of a lot of sense to me.

no comment :roll: new players make zones grow, and every zone needs more except tw and eg. you can say YOU dont care, but people who make sets have to care or else they wont have anywhere left to make sets.

im obviously too stupid to understand why this is such a big problem, sintead of saying "oh my god" or "no comment," tell me what the big deal is. thanks.

opal is a good map, it could work as a pub map i think, but the bases are noticeably larger from what we ahve now, so we need a higher average pop playing pub before opal can become a good pub map. it'd be no fun in a 8v8 game. and if your suggestions are so great akai make some maps and send them to vile/nbv/net because they at least usually give some feedback. and if you already did, send them again. and the "uzi weasel" shouldnt come back. it was entertaining, yeah, but it pissed people off too (usually the javs :wink: ) i had something else to add...right i remember. why should league sets get put into pub? why not pub sets into leagues? i know that'd piss off rumblers, but i imagine alot of pubbers will feel the same about having rumble jav + the sets required to balance it put into pub.

most people who play rumble want the old sets back... i dont hear anyone from pub complaining though. well, those i dont have ignored

if you don't like it anymore that's your choice but i don't think spamming the boards with "the settings suck" messages will get it done either. someone else did the ban while i was looking up the commands or else it would have been a shorter one too... well w/e, rules are rules, and everytime you post a message "the settings suck" you're breaking the general "crackdown" that they said would happen in the announcement forum.

obviously, akai doesn't like 17th parallel, since everything he/she (i dont know which) posts is negative while in its forums... and i imagine this is up just a bit early, as league announcements are expected soon (vile said the 31st, but he's not LC anymore so we'll see now). toodle-oo

zioneer, when i "abused" i hadnt received the rules files yet, and yes it was somewhat incorrect. im so sorry i silenced you when you deserved it... but dont tell me akai hasn't read the announcements forum. "they dont bother me as i dont play 17th Pub." if you dont play pub now why would changing the sets change that fact? the current weasel isn't random, it does take skill to use believe it or not. its just that most people make it far too easy for them to die to weasels because they can pack alot of damage in a short amount of time. if you've been firing alot expect to die to a weasel or shark, that's just common sense. try to fire less and see what happens. and if you're looking for 1v1 duels in pub, you're playing the wrong game. everyone hates weasels because they always vulch. that's because they are the fastest ship and have this uncanny knack to see a fight on radar, then go in and steal a kill or two. if the weasel were made slower people would hate the shark just as much i think.

OPAL OPAL OPAL! those bases were great... and i think we're hitting larger overall populations in pub now, so it's time for some bigger bases. it also combined flags + goals. <3 opal!!! Again, on another note: why is akai allowed to say things like"who cares, the settings blow" it's not contributing to the current discussion, and is basically here to piss people who like the current settings off (few as they may be).

the oldmap wasn't that great (?go oldmap, i assume). i say we use vile's elite opal map. that map looks sharp to play in, as i missed the time when it was the pub map :tomcat: on a side note, how come akai is allowed to make spam / useless posts like this "like it matters with the current settings" but other people aren't?

I've made a chat so that all the serious ballers can get more organized and then once we get lots of people on this chat, we can decide on what days we can all make it and have some good games. so far only people on it are myself, blitz and ricebowl. ask any of us online for the chat. toodles

Good idea, but I'm not sure you could get a GOOD game of this happening (say at least 8v8?) The only time there are 16 serious balling players online is when pub is hovering at the 40 player mark, and then the game is alredy 13v13, and newbies and vets alike kind of get sucked into the base and ball gameplay for whatever reason (ballers flying through middle with escort, getting shot around entrance to bases, getting in between a baller and where he wants to go). there needs to be a reason to ball in pub (person with most of a given positive stat (Goals/!@#$%^&*ists/steals/saves at random) gets free bounce (or something valuable) every game? well it's just an idea. the further a game lasts, the more likely it is that people who just arrived and who dont usually play it will play. some good games end up finish 5-3 or 6-4, but the best games ive ever played have finished 14-12, 10-8, whatever. it's annoying, but it's how it goes (in any zone with ball / flags). i'd be up for the idea of having an arena with only the "serious ballers," but how many of these people are there? and how often are they all online? could also be a prime opprotunity to tests some maps that have flags + goals in same bases.

i rerouted secondary power to the deflector array, but then my shields expired so i had to ?buy super, but then my primary energy relays overloaded so i had to use emergency power for the thrusters!!!!!! it was horrible but then i died and got a new ship. it had no problems.

More thrust = more newbie friendly ship, because it's easier to dodge with. more speed w/ less thrust = difficult to use because you can't adjust your trajectory very quickly. so more speed =good only with more thrust too

here's the dumbed down version: 1)Settings aren't getting changed because noone has balls (aka guts) to do so. 2)our population has been fairly steady recently so why change anything? 3) only staff, ex-staff, and a few players post here. nothing that gets talked about here represents anything near a majority of the opinions in the zone.

:tomcat: ^^shooting down zioneer's useless post. the reason it exists is because of a bunch of things but it boils down to lack of testicular for!@#$%^&*ude. things are going ok now, so most people think "why fix something that's not broken?" and besides the majority of the zone isn't aware of these forums. most of the discussion that takes place is between staffers + a handful of players. that needs to be fixed so that any single point of view (cough) doesn't get shouted so loud it drowns out everything else.
