quick thought: you are both making too much of ducky's comparison of human tissue to mold/dog/ape tissua and are also willfully taking it incorrectly. it was clear to me from the get go that he believes there is little difference between a freshly created possible-future-human, and a freshly created possible-future-mold. im no biologist but i'd hazard a guess at saying that a dead mold cell and dead human skin cell aren't *that* different. the difference will be in the specialization that the skin cell has - tautness, sensitivity, insulation... whatever. i'd further guess that since the tissue - as i agree also with ducky on this point - of a possible-future-human hasn't yet developed to this point of specialization, the cells are more alike than you may think. ducky tbh mold may have been a bad example... but the dog/ape works just fine as subs-*BAD WORD*-ute (in this post too)

Unplanned children are not a benefit to society. In the case of a teenager/ young 20s woman getting pregnant and not getting an abortion, in most cases the parents of the woman are busted paying for this child's welfare (rather than their retirement), and the woman and her man - if he hasn't jetted - are paying for this child's welfare (Rather than their first house, saving for a planned child's education, whatever). If society is willing to turn a blind eye to conditions that create unwanted pregnancies, it should turn a blind eye to the abortions that are desired as a result. However, unlicensed abortion centers can be dangerous - thus the government has a responsibility to ensure that abortions are available. granting for this argument that the tissue is human once the egg is fertilzed, i'll concede you might be killing the next Washington, Trudeau or Churchill, but you might also be killing the next Hitler, Napoleon or Caesar. In any case, I don't give this particular angle much credit. the father and mother should have the only input into the decision, and what ducky said makes sense to me on that score. my problem with pro-lifers is that they ignore the fact that in all probability said child who's life they are saving, will likely just end up in the same predicament in 15-20 years after birth.

the reason why people care so much about the american elections, and always will until some asian country kicks its !@#$%^&*, is because it is the country with the most power. plain and simple. the republicans among you will say !@#$%^&* like "!@#$%^&* straight" and "IM GOING TO GO BATHE IN SOME CRUDE NOW K THX BYE," but the problem of outsourcing jobs is becoming very real. it's not just happening to americans. canada's ohios (southern ontario, mostly), are getting screwed out of manufacturing jobs too. my dad's job was axed because the company couldn't compete with other companies that hire people in asia. in 10 or 20 years, there will be one or more same-level powers as the usa. economically, if not militarily (As the case of the eu). until the usa becomes to the world what canada is to the usa right now, people will always care about what goes on. the only thing i know about european elections are that a facist got to the final ticket in France, neo-nazis are getting elected in east german provinces again, and Blair is still PM. oh, and some ex-secret agent runs russia. that's it. because they aren't as important. congrats on being important, usa. now are you going to run yourselves into the ground?

Neither Edwards nor Cheney made any big mistakes last night (pending fact checking as Vile said), but they were pretty good about the debate in general and I just wish Canadian debates could be like that lol. Both of them had respect for one another and Cheney made good use of the "nothing to add" routine... I think in some instances he should have spoken all the same.
