Well, if gravity fields can be switched on/off/reversed, with different triggers like LVZ objects, you could do all sorts of things. Slow regions could work more or less the same way... like a patch of dirt in a racing arena; it would slow your ship gradually until it's stopped. The possibilities are endless

Speaking of gravity... your post made me think that putting gravity fields on the map (like ASSS-regions with gravity properties) would be cool. Either concentric gravity or directional... So someone could easily make a map with downwards gravity; or tehre could be some... particle accelerating tunnels or stuff that boost your bombs and guns. Yeah, gravity fields could be set to only affect weapons, people, or both. This could also lead to various complex physics puzzles

Just having the continuum installer and a few other key files uploaded to these other sites could give us some extra clicks... I doubt having all these skins and tilesets and shipsets would do much. I think TT misinterpreted LC's demand because it was in a topic about SSDL being down... But yeah, I don't think mirroring 'all' the files is necessary, or that it would have any effect on visibility. Take the 10 or so most downloaded files, and put these up (except DCME... take the latest version )

The community indeed... which explains why a high percentage of players just like to log in to sit in pub spec and chat. Also, original stuff, things that tend to push the limits of the client to the edge... These things appeal to me because I always wanted to develop these kinds of things, like subarenas with non-standard gameplay (see ?go sepang; canada; australia; brazil in 17th). Mystic Kingdom comes to my mind, and Hyperspace. It's these kinds of places that make the game more than an online asteroid game. I also enjoy the technical side of doing things with things that were not intended to do things (if that makes any sense). Only example I can think of right now would be to use invisible flags to produce local sounds when a ship passes over them... That kind of stuff.
