Maybe this is just me getting old, but I don't see what the difference between Halo N and Halo N+1 is.

These two statements embody the primary problem with Hyperspace right now. Do yourself and the zone a favor and stop hyping this jackassary. Hero-mode flagging is beyond stupid. And this highlights the problem with the players: You guys hit the easy button too quickly and too often. Arnk and/or Brain, you guys should do everything in your power to fix these immediately. Quickfix suggestions: - Make guns more expensive. - Make items recharge.

I know I'm doing it wrong... but this is the first thing I thought of when I saw Retribution: http://privateerpress.com/files/images/flash%20point%20header.jpg

The hell were you doing on a reality tv casting call site?

Wow... I'm honestly speechless. The only way anyone can possibly be as incorrect and inaccurate as you are is if they're either trolling or they're really stupid. Not that it matters though; neither case is worth replying to.

Why bother with thousands when the general populace uses less than ten of the existing hundreds? Regardless, it's not as simple as just permuting the item values. Your cute formulas (and they are cute) fail to account for the following: - Two bombs which are only distinguishable by a shrap count difference of one or two are silly. - Guns are basically already distributed as you're suggesting, save for a few combinations which would be even more broken than most guns currently are (Bouncing L4 w/Multi? No thanks). - Different firing rates and energy costs are the only other factors available to balance out the factors you're suggesting be used to make new guns (Money and EXP mean nothing to the metawhores). - The most broken items that exist right now are guns and bombs (Cluster Bomb and all guns in general. Hell, the sig gun stats seem to imply that Arnk was drunk when he made them). Signatures don't need variety -- they're specifically designed to allow for broken items to exist. If more signatures are added, that just means more broken items which you dicks will abuse to make the casual players lose interest.

You just answered your own question.

Not a bad setup, though the quality of the drives worries me a bit. Knowing someone who works for Seagate and who straight up says that the difference in quality and longevity between the consumer level and enterprise level drives is massive (and also slightly evident by the longer warranty on the enterprise drives). Going by newegg prices, for another $1800 and a loss of 22.5 TB, you can get the ES.2 drives which will last significantly longer and are designed to be in 24/7, high-activity environments.

Rumor has it that Mr. Kilo outsources his work to sweatshops in China, which is how he's able to undercut me by so much. Sending your money to him is not only unamerican, but it's hurting our economy. Help our country get out of this recession -- send me your $2539.06 and I'll update this thread by using only the finest queries crafted right here in the U S of A by American workers.

...the fuck is wrong with you?

If you can get enough people to pool together $25M HSD to pay me, I'll update it.

Brain is lying. It's actually "Stupid Exp." You see, every time you do something stupid (or in the case of playercontinuum, every 5 seconds), you'll get some S.Exp. Any ship you own will have 1 ball & chain for every 1000 S.Exp you have. ^ True story.
-
It doesn't. Cobalt blows up everyone in the blast radius from whatever freq it and engine failure are on. You get absolutely nothing for it's kills.

@sama: I plan on having 10 sets of objects and cycling through them so the animations look fluid and shouldn't ever get chopped up due to an insane number of kills. Hell, with basing that may need to go up to 20 sets. Fortunately, we've 65k object ids to pick from. More updates on the hud follow. I'm still not entirely satisfied with the money/exp counters, so I may end up changing them (maybe go with the LED look for those as well?); but I think I like where they are, though I may line up the digits. I dunno. Edit: All lined up. Looks a lot better, I think.

Your post certainly does contain words, doesn't it?
-
That's part of the plan. I liked your animation idea, I just don't like doubling the bandwidth to do both your idea and mine (I was planning on having the +$$$ and +exp values on the map where the player died, and having +$$$ money popup on teammates for shared kills). Hopefully I can hack something with LVZs to make it work right and save bandwidth in the process (something about doubling up object IDs makes Continuum act funny with LVZs -- I remember playing with it before on Subgame, but I don't remember specifics). Or maybe we'll do both... who knows. I haven't even started coding this thing yet, so a lot of this is still debatable. Also, we can fix what kill messages you get on the server end. I won't make any promises because it's really not that important (sorry mate), but it's not that difficult to do distance or sector-based kill message forwarding.
-
Thing is, Continuum already has a function for logging kill messages (type ?kill a couple times), so it's largely unnecessary to have a module spamming it. Further, it makes arena messages that much less important as most green spam is ignored as there's so damn much of it. Besides, the events you specified are pretty much when you get spammed with something relating to money anyway, so why not just update the counter then and get rid of the extra spam?
-
Except not many people type ?money every couple seconds. However, when it replaces the kill message all together, it actually turns out to be about the same amount of bandwidth -- hence the addition. I'm not entirely pleased with how they look (or their placement), so feel free to hack away at it and see if you can come up with something better.
-
Sigh. What the hell? First of all, did you even read the topic or look at the images? Most of what you're asking about is already implemented or is being discussed and everything else is stupid and/or useless (Kills, deaths and flags? Really?) Secondly, why did you make your post so obnoxious? If you don't know what the point of formatting your text is, then don't do it.

Cerium> bricks and all items are already being fixed, cockfaces. PsYthe> hey cerium PsYthe> say that on the forums

@Sama: Even after fixing that annoying bug (I've found I have to do ?sound=10, ?sound=0, ?sound=# to get what I want), it's still obscenely loud compared to everything else. @LSC: Holy shit, you mean MS did something useful with the new audio stack (aside from fucking over Creative's nice little monopoly)? Impressive. That's the only thing I really hate about XP -- the whole audio system is god awful and has a number of issues. As it is now, my volume bar is only useful from 0-25%; at 25% or above on the bar, it's at max volume. That and the fact that some programs are noticeably louder than others... Yuck. So yeah, seems this is only useful for people still using XP.
