... Goddamnit, drake. Now I hate the internet even more.

Sama... I'm going to tell you a story; the story of my Tuesday afternoon... So there I was, taking a five minute break from my awful math homework when I decide to see what the hell you would make a thread titled "QWOP" about. Suddenly, it's an hour later and I'm late for class. You, sir, are a bastard. Also, a little cheat mode for QWOP: If you get the jerk on his right knee with his left leg extended out entirely, you can press qwop in quick succession to move at an incredible rate of like .0005m/sec with no risk of falling down.

Yes; and now I'm quoting you. The internet is a very magical place full of wonder and delight... wouldn't you agree? He's the only one who thinks that and you know he only says it because whoever his team is loses to the penguins all the time so yeah. The standings appear to disagree with your statement. Also, standard trolling: THE PENGUINS SCORED A GOAL AGAINST THEMSELVES WHICH DIRECTLY LED TO THEIR LOSS. GG. Indeed. Good point, sir.
-
Yeah, like that one time where they scored a goal against themselves and then went on to lose the game in a shoot-out. Pro. =( Indeed. Good point, sir.
-
Penguins? More like FAILins! m i rite?

lol @ Cutiepie01 spam. !@#$%^&* got me too =(

HAH! NICE LIPSTICK, !@#$%^&*GOT.

Why are you posting here again? Don't you have a website to screw up?
-
Just a request to the players: I'm not telling you how to play your game or anything but... Please don't go out of your way to try to break the flag game by putting flags in an area that makes them nearly impossible to get to without moderator intervention. Then when the flag game restarts yet again don't try to immediately quickwin to get the bumped jackpot because you're greedy and don't actually care about the flag game. ... That was complete bs.

You're a !@#$%^&* for attaching a 4mb image. Downscale those or link to them next time.

As an addendum to A, why not just have it so any special weapon gives less (none) money/exp per kill? My main argument with Arnk with thors is always been that they're so easy to spam because it's both effective and profitable to do so. Killing a single enemy more than negates the cost of a single thor where a multikill will pay for 3+. Also, how about this: It seems to me that people will spam any item they can get because items in themselves are overpowered (since their original implementation kept them somewhat difficult to have a pseudo-infinite supply). This means that once thors 'go away', we'll see more bursts/repels as part of the item-rush. After that, bricks. At most we can have 3 mounts. Something I think would greatly reduce item-spam is to make every mount provide a single capacity for the item in question. For the signature mounts, we could do a few that provide a combination of the bunch. Here is what I would like to see: - Mount (+1 max, +5 capacity) [Mount] <- One of these exists for every item. - Siege Mount (+1 burstmax, +2 thormax, +5 burst/thor capacity) [Mount, Signature] - Defense Mount (+1 brickmax, +2 repelmax, +5 decoy/repel capacity) [Mount, Signature] - Speed Mount (+1 portalmax, +2 rocketmax, +5 portal/rocket capacity) [Mount, Signature] This means, at most, someone can have 3 of any item and 4 thors, repels or rockets if they're willing to sacrifice their signature slot (!@#$%^&*uming the other items don't provide +itemmax). Sure, we may eventually run into the same problem, but if people are double-thoring, they're not going to be bursting or repelling and we won't even see the triple or quad item setups until fairly late into a reset (or 2 weeks at the rate some of you !@#$%^&*gots play. Go outside, wtf. [/rant]). Personally, I think limiting item availability will improve the overall quality of basing and the zone as a whole. As it stands now, basing is won by whichever team can buy themselves more items -- which means they get more money to spend next round. It's an endless cycle perpetuated again by people who abuse flaws in the system and refuse to see the sun more than once a week. Eventually, I would like to see a system where rather than just buying the items to use them, the mount provides a "recharge," similar to how AD works. You may have a +2 thormax, but you only get a thor every 20-30 seconds. This provides the availability to people who use them "regularly," but effectively prevents the endless stream/spam of items in basing. Anyway, that's how I'd do it. And because I'm me, it's clearly the most awesome solution to the problem. If you disagree, you probably enjoy the company of small boys. !@#$%^&*.

And I see the red text was ignored, as you linked directly to the the image in question.

Well, for private teams this means fakes don't count... but I think the "balancing" of public teams is done entirely by the client (being that when you try to change teams to unbalance them, the client gives you a specialized warning rather than a generic green server message). I'm guessing this means that the client sends a request of where it feels would be the most even, which also means we should probably change some things around so that the arena settings aren't sent to the client and instead are handled entirely by the server. Edit: Scratch that; I was thinking of the "Team is full" message. Depending on where you got that block of code, perhaps there's something in the ASSS core that's handling the team balancing stuff which does count fake players.

Who gives a crap? If you don't like him, I don't care. Personal attacks and insults don't belong here. I don't care if you agree or disagree - which quite frankly that isn't the point and isn't the problem. If you have nothing better to say other than constructive criticism (which does not mean you can't simply disagree and constructively explain why), then the chances are that you shouldn't be making a reply. I don't care what goes on outside of these forums, but there is a place for everything, and those kind of posts do not belong here. Hey dip!@#$%^&*... pay attention. You idiots started defending him before anyone was even attacking him. He was given constructive criticism and he straight up tossed it aside, showing that he'd rather have his name !@#$%^&*ociated with something than to take the time to do it right. Again, no one attacked anyone under you guys started defending against a non-existent attack. Is it clear yet? Re-read my post (and my previous, almost identical post) if you're still confused.

No idea -- I've never done the broadcasting/podcasting thing. I've got some actual dj equipment I've been meaning to setup and use for almost a year now, but I won't have the room until I move into my dorm (which is kinda sad, if you think about it).
-
You must be forgetting how much L4 bullets hurt (hint: a lot). Add in the fact that it fires for free at a respectable rate AND there's some degree of automated aiming... it's already annoying as it is. Making the bullets bounce pretty much !@#$%^&*ures that it becomes standard basing equipment (aka: broken), so it's not likely to happen.
-
What system are you using for this? How do the DJs go about broadcasting? I'm down for doing some live sets for ya once I'm all setup on campus.
-
I know I type a lot, but please stop missing the point: - He jumped the gun, again. - He was given advice and constructive criticism without flames, showing how the task should be done. - He gleefully ignored it and basically said it's not his concern. He's presenting half-finished and half-!@#$%^&*ed work. I left it alone until people started defending him for getting solid, helpful advice. There was nothing to defend against and the idea that his at!@#$%^&*ude towards development needed sheltering pisses me off.

Alright, god!@#$%^&*it... I was going to just drop it and not !@#$%^&*ing eRage about this week's session of re!@#$%^&*ation, but Jesus Christ some of you people piss me off... (Mods, might be a good time to split this topic... though not to Trash Talk, since I'm about to discuss the dumb!@#$%^&*ery, not trashing it). I've only browsed the old site twice, I mean, we haven't used bots in HZ since 2005 =P. From what I remember though, it wasn't very user-friendly at all nor was it organized well. Overall it looked like a pile of crap. Which is fine, because obviously Catid wasn't going for a website award, it was just a storage space for subspace robots. Ok, we disagree on how much it was needed, but we agree that it wasn't mission critical and probably also agree that there are probably much better things to devote attention to. This is just a simple way to get into the topic without adding anything new but having a reason to participate in the discussion for this little gem... No one is saying the site looks bad -- NO ONE. They're just saying it needs to be fixed, because it does; it's wasn't finished before Ace went all ape!@#$%^&* with the release (yet AGAIN). No, god!@#$%^&*it, no. !@#$%^&*ing, no. No no no, no. No. En !@#$%^&*ing oh, no. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (That's 50 exclamation points. Count 'em, !@#$%^&*es) Seriously, you've got this idiot jumping on every project imaginable half-!@#$%^&*ing some work so he can slap his !@#$%^&*ing name on it. What he's doing is launching these !@#$%^&*ing media campaigns for projects that are ONE HUNDRED !@#$%^&*ING PERCENT unnecessary so he can earn himself some eFame. Don't believe me? Let's do a quick recap for the folks keeping score at home: - SSCouncil Forums Project Tasks: Manage the SSCouncil forums. Target Audience: Zone sysops and whoever else can work the system to be part of the clique. Necessity Rating: 0.5/10 Comments: Let's face facts here: It takes less than 30 minutes to setup and maybe MAYBE another 30 to click around the GUI to add the content. From there, the only work comes in the form of clicking "accept user" and deleting posts periodically. Even the most inactive person in the council could do this job while downing a liter of Jack. Reason for failure: Project was doomed by the fact it was announced to people who don't care and was largely recognized as a power-mongering move. - Subspace CV Project Tasks: Looking FABULOUS! Target Audience: No !@#$%^&*ing clue Necessity Rating: Negative Fourty-Six/10 Comments: Apparently this was/is going to be the status quo for staff in his zone. I still don't even know what to say about this. Reason for Failure: http://cre-ss.org/logs/frontend.php?file=acecv.log. - GetContinuum.com Project Tasks: "Manage" the GetContinuum.com site Target Audience: Potential new players and newblets who don't have every version of Sniper, Subspace and Continuum burned to CD, backed up to tape and stored on an external hard drive (aka: ASSS). Necessity Rating: 3/10 Comments: The site was originally setup by Wonderer and the content was produced by a few others. But that doesn't stop him from slapping his name on it under the guise of "maintenance." Exactly what does that site need? A link to the download and the screenshots and other dynamic content that already exists. Aka: nothing. Reason for Failure: I'm not sure if it's possible to fail when you don't need to do anything. Much like the SSC forums, the site is largely self-sustaining, requiring an update only when a new version of the client comes out (which only happens during the lunar eclipse). - mervbot.com Project Tasks: !@#$%^&*izing an otherwise adequate design by using dated markup and techniques that have been obsoleted around the same time he was born. Target Audience: People who still use MERV (aka: developers). Necessity Rating: 1/10 Comments: The old site was basically a bunch of divs slapped on in the order the content was received. Elegant? No. Effective for it's target audience? Definitely. Reason for Failure: The site was deployed before it was ready and the template was !@#$%^&*ed up and used several times over in a static-context which will result in either a half-!@#$%^&*ed site or over 9000% more work. Also, the site was once again announced to people who are about as far from the target audience as you can get without going straight to the high-school cheerleading squad. Disclaimer: He may have other projects, but I'm not a stalker and this is taking too much time so !@#$%^&* it. ... Annnnnnyway, I guess the point I'm making is that you've got this guy jumping onto everything, doing it half-!@#$%^&*ed and slapping his name all over it like he's some kind of hero for what he's doing. Look, it's great he wants to help out (or is putting out that front, whatever). But Jesus Tapdancing Christ AceFlyer, can you go about doing SOMETHING without patting yourself on the back for doing a !@#$%^&*ty job? Meh. I'm too lazy to proofread this !@#$%^&*. This is good enough.

Doesn't the iPhone use a custom version of Safari? Wouldn't that mean that the only way it wouldn't work is if the markup is broken to the point where it's rendering incorrectly (aka, wouldn't be an issue if it validated)?
-
Tch... Whatever. Do what you like.
-
Well, the old layout looked pretty bad. I will agree that it didn't really need a makeover, though. Taking the same logic further, though, we don't really need GetContinuum.com, or SSWiki, or any of a variety of other useful sites. I don't believe it needed a makeover, but I didn't say it shouldn't exist. The old site was, in my opinion, perfect for it's content: simple and functional. Quit with the knee-jerk reactions and stop trying to twist my words. True, and these will be addressed. I don't see the fire though; it's not like the site claims to be validated. Honestly, do you put every webpage you view through validation? View? Not necessarily. Develop? Definitely. And being that you're actually working on this site (with your usual degree of self-pride, I see), I'd expect that you'd care about things like compatibility and functionality. If you don't see the "fire" after I clearly pointed out the reason you want to fix these problems up-front, then I highly suggest you step down until Rii has a chance to get the template to a finalized state. As things are moving along now, you're only creating more work which will be harder and more time consuming down the road.
-
The problem you've left yourself, though, is you didn't get your template polished before AceZealot put it into use. Now instead of one page, you've got five or six to fix. Adding PHP to the mix is only going to compound these issues if they're not taken care of prior.
