SSCL Hyperspace is now online. Connection to the SSC biller is forthcoming, so you'll see an annoying password message when you connect. The arena settings are an old copy, and will probably be tweaked. All money, exp, ship and item data should be there.

I'm not opposed to graphic changes if they have some meaning (like the big ships), but just replacing them to replace them doesn't seem worth it. No sense making people wait even longer to download the zone.

The newbie unfriendliness was never a big concern for me. Some people have a big issue with fairness, but I've always seen it as a challenge, and therefore more fun. Yes, things could be perfectly balanced, but that's just boring.

Not just yet. I've gotten a few hosting offers for mid January, but I'm still hoping for a SSC Linux box in the near term. I'll let you guys know when something is finalized.

I never turned the zone off. Death+ did that. Death+ shut down HS, not myself. And I do believe that his actions have damaged SSCI's public image, but I could be wrong. I ignored him for several days, at which point he threatened to turn off the zone. I started to back up the important files, and during that backup process, death terminated the zone. Yes? I think it's lame. They could have used any port they wanted. Not like there's any shortage of ports on the box. Not true. They didn't care if HS joined their forum or not. They just wanted us off of SSForum. Death+ made it clear that us using a third party forum would have been perfectly acceptable. I believe (read: don't know for sure) that Death+ feels that Polix tried to shut SSI down. I think he also implicated SVS in this plot, but that's sort of beside the point. Read above.

DBE, Death+ hasn't said anything on the matter in the forums. Have you ever talked to GP? He's very abrasive and comes off badly. Also, I've never had a problem with people asking anything, so please don't flame them for it. HS left SSCI because Death+ and Gameplay were forcing us to leave SSForum (going to their forum instead wasn't actually required, btw). And where there's one unreasonable power crazed demand, there's more. Death+ wasn't willing to give me the time needed to find a new host, and he shut the zone down. On another note: Yes, many people have offered their windows hosts to us, and I'm very grateful for the support. I have super insane schoolwork for the next few weeks and won't be able to make any sort of decision until the 16th or 17th. I'm rather hoping that someone offers us a Linux hosting solution before that time, but if not, we'll give windows another go.

No joke. They demanded that we stop using SSForum or they'd kick us off the server. He didn't even demand that we use their SSCI site, just that we stop using this one.

Yeah, which is why I chose to leave. It's a totally ridiculous reason.

Death+ has demanded our shutdown or our immediate withdrawal from SSForum because of his personal vendetta against Polix. Because I'm pretty sure that this won't be the last unreasonable demand, I've opted to shut HS down until a new host can be found. Until then, I wish you all good luck.

I've never really had time to do the weasel justice. All of the other ships have their role pretty well defined (except maybe the shark), but the weasel has sort of never been refined. I'll have some time over winter break that I hope to be able to devote to HS. Lets just say that the weasel is pretty high up on the list of things that need doing.

Anyone care to summarize? I refuse to read anything as unformatted as that.

It's theoretically possible, but the effect wouldn't be as good as one might hope, and it would be a real pain in the !@#$%^&* on top of that. For all intents and purposes, it's not possible.
