Ok, the past few days have been a HS disaster. That whole biller thing. Ugh. Still isn't fixed either. It'll break every recycle/crash. I made that flag neuter and antiwarp module. Tested them. Only the flag mover worked in Hyperspace. The antiwarp one works great on my test server, but no luck getting it working in HS. I'll give it another try tomorow. Everyone is busy it seems. (Me included). Half the staff is on vacation. Siaon is "indesposed". I'm teaching. Oh well. It works out, because half the population is away as well.
  2. Wow. I've read 3 1/2 books this month, and I'll be finished the last one by the end of the month. I, Robot Prelude to Foundation Foundation 1/2 of Foundation and Empire
  3. The UN will kill itself before long. The league of nations did the same thing because of WWII.
  4. I read it first. Movie doesn't use the three laws in the same way.
  5. Deleted? Jeez. If I ever wanted to stop this, I would lock it, not delete it.
  6. 1. A player may not injure a staff member or, through inaction, allow a staff member to come to harm. 2. A player must obey orders given it by staff members except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A player must protect his/her own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
  7. There are problems with changing the ball reward formula.
  8. Ok, finished writing the flag neuter and the antiwarp module, as far as I can tell. I still have yet to test them. I'll test them tomorow, God willing. My plan it to just make a single rectangle region to test with. Nothing fancy like is required with the beta map. Should take less than an hour start to finish.

    Reset

Wiped. No more annoying newbies asking when. Now there will be 10x as many newbies asking why. Err... why was this a good idea again?
  10. Windows Update SUCKS!!! I spent a half hour trying to recover my drivers after it screwed them over. Anyway... No work done tonight. Sorry all.
  11. Ok, Things have been hectic for me lately, so I haven't been doing much SS work. Last week I was teaching robotics camp. Went fine, but took a lot of my time. I did do a little bit of work some of the nights, but nothing substantial. Then, Friday morning, my computer wouldn't boot up. Great :\. So I fixed it enough to be able to copy my files off, and then formatted the hard drive. Saturday, I started copying files to my new computer that I got for college. I only finished setting it up last night (Sunday). So that explains my lack of any progress over the weekend. This week I'm also teaching, so I will only be able to work on HS at night. I'm actually typing this in the classroom at the lunch break. I think I will put my new module work on hold and get the region stuff resolved, as that is needed for Beta. Siaon said he was nearly done with the jump module. I'd like to get that compiled and tested ASAP, but I don't know when I'll be able to get that computer plugged in. I'll make that a priority. Making a region file in Java is very simple. The design problem I'm having is to optimize the rectangles so I don't have a bazillion. Perhaps I'll only convert the corner parts, and make the wide open parts by hand. That would certainly be easy. GTG
  12. If they can't agree, they play in sharks. So, almost duelest's choice, but not quite.
  13. That's because about half of the modding team is on vacation. That's probably part of the population drop, though I know of a few other reasons behind that.
  14. Total, make your sig 4x shorter. Giving people money for nothing is just a recepie for disaster. It wont ever happen.
  15. It does effect people negativly. Take Sweeden (maybe it was Finland) as an example. After gay marriage, the out of wedlock birthrate doubled (and last I checked, gay people don't have kids). Mmm, gay marriage is great, huh?
  16. Gay marraige: Way more than 50% of the population don't want it. That's reason enough to p!@#$%^&* a law against it. Same applies to abortion, BTW. No, not everyone in the US is a christian. But the majority of the population has christian values. That means that the laws of this great nation should reflect that. We were founded in the morals of the Holy Bible, and we have come as far as we have because of that. Abandoning that now will help no one.
  17. I have no info on what might cause something like this. Either the database will have good data or it will have the last save's data. Anything else means something very wrong has happened. EDIT: When I say something very wrong, I mean, *very* wrong. Don't think I mean, oops, typo on line 5. Think, the bot server got thrown into a lava pit, and half the hard drive melted away, and what's left was recovered and converted back into the database.
  18. His cat died during one of the server crashes.

    Reset

3 more newbies messaged me about a reset today. All of them trying to convince me not to do it, under the impression that it was happening "sometime soon." All they do is move the reset into my active memory, where it's more likely to get done.
  20. *bows* Now where did I put that ray gun... *wanders off*
  21. I use ?log auto%freq.log. On spec freq, %freq generates a random number. Then I sort my log folder by date or search it for a keyword. BUT %date and %time would be infinitly nicer.
  22. Kerry can't stand up to Bush on domestic stuff either. While I'm no great fan of what Bush has done with some things *cough*perscription drug benefits*cough*, things would only be 10x worse with Kerry. EDIT: I don't know why I posted here. No one who reads this board will have their mind changed by anything anyone else says (myself included, of course).
  23. Lets evaluate. Picano: Cat girls anyone? Nikon: Disapeared for 3+ months. God only knows where he went. Nerusai: I drove him to insanity. Go me. Funk: Likes to drink people under the table. NiKe: Lol. Mook: Anyone who thinks that ferrets don't smell is weird. D1st0rt: Nuff Said. Wargh: Plays underwater hockey. Coenny: Quigybobo: Hasn't slept in two weeks. Fat Cat: Just a matter of time. And me: Anyone who makes a blog out of a forum should be shot. Oh, and have you seen some of the maps I've made? Ugh! Still want to work for Hyperspace? I thought not. Have a nice day.
  24. Fixed. Feel free to point out spelling errors I make. I promise I wont take it the wrong way.
  25. Ok, I added some mysql tables and updated the old ones. I still have to modify the hs_players table for tracking money types. I haven't decided if I want to do it with a total money field and a few reference fields, or if I should have ASSS combine all the fields on the fly. I'm leaning toward the latter. I still have to test some of the money commands, and get Items, Stores and Categories to load. Once those load, I can make ship hulls and ship items load. Then all sorts of ascessory commands need to be made, like ?shipstatus and ?ships. ?iteminfo and other new commands will be added as well. After that, I can make buy menus and buying ships. Ship items come after that. Onetimes can be added later. The ship spawner is gonna be tricky, but it could be worse. A combination of prizes and custom settings packets will be employed. A simple freq manager will be easy to add. It can copy fm_normal to start with, and have added code for enforcing ship hulls. Later, a named team module can be added complete with password protection and team ownership. Some point along the way, hs_map needs to start handling all the region requests for the modules. The stores reference regions, so it will have to be finished about the same time as when I start adding buying items.
