  3. It's a sick running joke of the mod's. He was never a moderator. He was and is the SSCI server op. When we were on SSCI, he was in the zone a lot.
  4. Unless you are a programmer, you wont be able to make ASSS work for your zone. Why? There are very few ASSS programmers, and *none* of them are avalible to help new zones.
  5. No. Even a single swear is breaking the rule. Some of the mods wont punish for a single swear, but some will.
  6. Fixed.
  7. Bye Coenny. We wub you.
  8. I try never to say anything like that, because I know if I did, fate would come knocking and I would get a password eating virus within a week.
  9. My short term memory is... what were we talking about?
  10. Beta is now in public 0.
  11. Yes, ASSS does not support staff passwords during login.
  12. It was indeed.
  13. Yes, what funk said. Basicly, "I love you" is fine but for anything else get a subarena.
  14. NOTE: I *will* moderate this thread. Post without reading, and expect to have your post deleted. Everyone seems to misunderstand the language rule in some way or another, so I will lay it out here. I am not someone who can't stand swears. This is not a way for me to prevent my little mind from shattering. Sorry. [Edit by Nerusai: He wants to prevent my fragile mind from shattering] I started playing SubSpace at a time in my life when I was closely watched on the computer. The swears in some zones were frowned upon by my parents. While they no longer watch me, and would no longer care if I read swears online, the fact is that many kids are still watched on the computer. This rule is meant to create an enviorment where you can have your chat read over your shoulder and not have to worry about what other players are saying. Also, initially, the zone was only played by my friends and I. Only the random player entering would swear. Because most of my friends had a closely watched problem, I started the no swearing rule. This rule went largly ignored for a long time. Come area2, I started enforcing like I should have. I have never layed out publicly what exactly cons!@#$%^&*ues a swear. There are some very good reasons for this. By keeping the rule vague, it is easier to enforce and easier to keep people from walking the line. I don't want every instance of **** replaced with some lesser swear that isn't on the "bad word list". That doesn't help at all. So, I still won't make a list of swears. I will never remove the no swearing rule. Not that I even want to, but if I did, because of how newbie minds work, Hyperspace would have more swearing than any other zone in SS. So, now that it has been put into place, there is no choice but to continue with it. Lets face it, most of the people who swear are the 12-14 year olds who aren't allowed to swear in real life. There are three possibilites for them when faced with a no swearing rule: 1.) Stop swearing. This is a good thing. 2.) Leave. Not as good, but remember, they are annoying anyway. 3.) Swear anyway, and get banned. Can't really stop this one. They feel that they have to look tough by breaking rules. They just didn't count on anything actually happening to them. Everyone else who swears usually does so as an emotinal indicator similar to the similes (). These people usually have no problem stopping. It's a lot easier to stop someone typing swears than to stop someone saying them. I have noticed that the moderators are starting to get lax about the swearing rule again. Do not interpret this as an invitation to start swearing, or you will get a rude awakening. Following the spirt of the no swearing rule, I would also like to start moving discussions that are rated higher than PG to non public chats. Mods won't moderate private team chats, private ?chats, and private arenas. So feel free to move your off color conversations there. Additionally, as long as there is no swearing going along with it, most mods will look the other way at adult themed conversations in subarenas. But I would like to stress again that adult conversations in the public arenas are no longer acceptable. This is a new rule, so you will probably get a few warnings first. I have found that the no swearing rule has created a much friendlier veteran population than we used to have. It does tend to make frequent swearers keep quieter than they might otherwise be, but I don't see this as a big problem. The zone's public chat might not be as active as other zone's, but the conversations occupy a much higher percentage. One last thing: Veteran offenders. Vets are always in sight of new players. They are a "role model", if you will, of zone behavior. So, if you wear your "banned 11 times for swearing" as a badge of honor, you'll probably get a rude awakening of a much longer ban than usual. Ugh, this took me too long to write. I was gonna say more, but I ran out of energy. Night.
  15. Deleted a meaningless post. Yes, I finished Foundation and Empire. It was ok. Finished Second Foundation. Very good. So far, my favorite Foundation book. I'm about half done Foundation's Edge. Very good so far. Has the potential to be the best Foundation book. Of course, It has plenty of time to flop, too.

    Me

Well, in less than two weeks I'm off to college. That will most likely put a kybosh on my zone work for at least a few weeks, perhaps more. In these next two weeks I will be occupied with family stuff and may not have as much time as I would like to devote to the zone. My goal is to get beta online before I leave for school. I don't think it's possible to replace the current modules with the new ones in only two weeks. For a replacement, I need to recreate the current items on the new system, which involves a lot more than one would think. All the basic items are easily mapped to the new system. For example, l3bomb, thor, energy, etc. Some things are going to be a pain or just plain impossible. For example: 10slot, prox, brick. The hard stuff isn't really impossible, but the implementation that they would use to achieve their special functions hasn't even been designed yet. So in the next couple weeks, beta: yes, new modules: no.
  17. This is out of hand. Locked.
  18. Yes, PP's banner just screams "I am a technicly adept person."
  19. How'd you gather those? Bot? Biller stats?
  20. I do know how hard we are on newbies game wise. I've put off doing anything about it until the new modules, because the current modules can't handle the strain of any major changes. I hope to make HS newbie friendly, but until I've updated some stuff, it's not practical. As for the vets, there isn't really a whole lot I can do about that. Usually the staff are helpful, but like you said, there weren't any online.
  21. Coincidence? I think not.

    To Do

Quick New Modules Update: Added money tracking. Still have to test it fully. Fixed the unlimited money bug in the new modules.
  23. Maybe? What do you mean maybe?

It wont display for the player. Only for a mod viewing someone's money.
