The Free For All seeding match will be done on May 18th, 2008 at 4:30PM EST. -Captains, make sure your FFA selection has been made (look at the first post on http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=20096 to make sure your player is set) and have him or her email me their ship configuration that they will be using, along with which ship. -Remember, if you are using a ship that has a restricted item, if you do not email me your ship configuration you will have your item stripped along with having one less death to in the FFA. -Registration lock will be in effect May 15th -Roster lock will be in effect May 17th -FFA Rules are as follows *Each player will have ten deaths *At ten deaths you will be specced *Rankings are determined by death placement (in other words, last one standing gets first seeding, etc) *Second place seed will be given to player with most kills in FFA *Should the last player standing be the one with most kills, then the one with second most kills will receive second place seeding (this does not continue afterwards) *Signature items are allowed --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary: FFA is on May 18th, 2008 at 4:30PM EST Have each FFA player email me their ship configuration Registration/Roster lock will be in effect soon

    Well as of late spider has becoming a lot more used, they're still getting pushed around by shark though, since rep + speed = good for the shark. Wonder why spiders are being used a lot more now, and terr seems to be recovering and more people are going back to them.
  4. A lanc with radiating coils and high energy is pretty hard to kill period. Defenders would just have an easier time if they have the right equipped items. Probably have to do something along the lines of making a special radiating coil for lanc only that's not as strong or make a special reactor that's not "that"good.

    Kinda hard to bnty if the sharks are killing you with their well placed bursts. Besides, how are you going to bnty off of them if your team is being pushed back by them?

    That only stalls the sharks, it doesnt stop them indefinitely. Unlike other ships, the shark will eventually break through your lines, it's not a matter of if, but when. The only tactic that seems to work is to clear enemy lanc.

    It's mix of energy/recharge/maneuverability are what make it so lethal. It's not that the bursts are too powerful - People never said they were, in fact people thought they were too weak. The reason why it seems so powerful now with a shark is because the shark can get in so much deeper than the average rushing ship. It's not that they can brick well, same reason as before, they can get so much deeper into the enemy line. Same thing with fields, but even more so. Fields are huge, especially a coffin. Who cares if the shark can use all three of those things? It's just that because it can get so deep into enemy cluster, it raises the potential of that item so much more.
  10. Yeah exactly, there's a reason why they're not used. They're bordering overpowering if they're a normal item, but stupid as a signature item.
  11. Yes, and I've also seen other javs play. Btw, WBs use bombs too. And Mat, I know which lanc you're talking about - That was some kind of bug, not because of lag. I was there
  12. Bullets are just as important as bombs when it comes to killing an enemy. as for HS being a laggy zone, it's one of the least laggiest zones out there. Compared to other zones HS almost feels lag free. When was the last time you heard someone lagging through an enemy cluster or an enemy skipping past? It doesn't happen all that much
  13. In a zone where it's not one hit kill, it doesn make a difference if you're dependent on making your shots count. Btw, guns also have this problem if not more so than bombs. Bullets are smaller and you never know of those bullets actually hit or not, at least with some of the bombs you have proximity so they'll always cause some damage, but bullets are either you got it or you dont.
  14. Just wondering, this isnt a big issue, but when you enter into a sector or center sometimes the gate corners stop is completely because we basically warped on them, is there a way we can make it wider or turn them into gfx so we dont land on top and do a complete stop?

Yeah, I have to admit, that +1 recharge/energy does make a nice difference, but at the same time for me personally it went up +2 because I then added a Power Strip, before that I was just using Ampere Imploder with nothing else to enhance it. That -8 Afterburner is huge though, now I just gotta wait for more new items to see what I can do. I felt buyer's remorse when I did intially buy it <_< - It's going away slowly though. It's not a bad thing that everyone is using radiating, definitely not. One of the great things about sig is, not only did it allow more ships to get things it normally couldnt get before the reset, but it also made people think more about setups. Perfect example of this was TacNuke before and after reset. Before only the levi could get it, but now most of the ships can get it, tacnuke is obviously better on levi though simply because of the speed of the bomb it has. ZPM and Mezon are the two biggest sigs that opened doors for a lot of ships, before it was only like two ships that could get those two items, but now most of the ships can get those two items.
  16. Lag is apart of the game and your opponent has the same problem. Not only that, if you're depending on your bomb all the time you probably wont make it to the finals anyways.
  17. Trivia = Random things that I know and just hand out money (Lately I havent been doing the normal trivia amounts because population isnt big enough and I wanna make trivia last longer)

    Like I've said before, I have no problem with the shark having cloak, in fact I think it's perfect that the shark has it. There's no reason why it shouldnt, it's small profile makes it the perfect ship to use cloak. The problem is that it has such massive recharge and respectable energy along with above average maneuverability.
  20. The point is, if you know your opponent has full energy or low energy you'll play different. If you dont know for sure, you'll play different. The point is to make sure you dont play so different that it stops you from chasing after the opponent.

  22. Dont need Omega, I'd personally rather have Flash Drive, Flash is just an upgraded version of Retro, which is the sublight I have now. But yes, let's make 2M items non-sig

    btw, thanks for nerfing the shark slowly but surely, hopefully we can find a happy equilibrium soon enough
