  1. Haha yeah. He probably won't even get that much of the black vote in the November election, because some blacks are conservatives/Republicans and will vote for McCain. If it comes to voting for "your local third party candidate" might as well not vote.
  2. I agree with CRe>.
  3. I've heard the term "javving" used in a variety of zones, including but not limited to TW. See what Purge said (below).
  4. I've heard like pretty much all of 'em. I don't see a need to sort them into zone-specific categories, seeing as "leviterr/lt" or "lancing" are the only two zone-specific abbreviations I see in the entire Abbreviations page.
  5. Could you use a few less abbreviations? For the life of me I couldn't understand most of what you were saying, and I'm one of the main contributors to the Abbreviations page at SSWiki!
  6. The US wasn't playing any dirtier than al-Sadr and his militia were. Less, probably, in fact.
  7. You'd be surprised what some people know and don't know.
  8. The abbreviations listed above are valid. Furthermore, although many of us know all of them well already, the page is for newcomers who may not know them so well; better safe than sorry, i.e. better to be as comprehensive as possible.
  9. I think Aileron has a point. The US is willing to negotiate with al-Sadr, and in fact has done so in the past.
  10. Agreed.
  11. Well, not really. When the US was founded, all adult white males who were landowners were considered equal. White males who didn't own land, nonwhites, and women were SOL (sadly outta luck). I'd say a true, fair, decent set of moral values is a prerequisite of democracy. A true, fair, decent religion can provide these moral values, but these moral values do not necessarily have to be provided by a religion. No, freedom of religion just means you have the right to choose which faith system, if any, you would like to follow. Beyond acknowledging that religion as defined by humanity exists, freedom of religion isn't really a religious concept.
  12. Agreed. And what exactly is wrong with Clinton's universal healthcare proposal?
  13. Ah, thanks, I hadn't noticed yet. Readded SSCouncil.com to the SSC Network links section at GetContinuum.com. Thanks Swift and Wonderer!
  14. The "bitter" comment was obviously taken rather seriously by many voters. The good Reverend Wright did make some inflammatory remarks, and Obama did waver back and forth before finally denunciating said remarks after voters weren't too pleased with his previous half-hearted dismissals (this is something Karl Rove has also pointed out). I will concede the stuff about patriotism was just bad. She actually has quite a few detailed policies laid out which she has been presenting. Whether they are 'smart' or not is something that is subjective. It is actually Obama, on the contrary, who hasn't really laid out policies in real detail and has mostly stuck to grand, uplifting rhetoric.
  15. Hey, that's really a terrific idea Sama! We'd raise a heck of a lot of money that way. Behind any populated zone there is a ton of behind-the-scenes work that is necessary to keep things running. You wouldn't understand this if you haven't been among the upper staff in a populated Continuum zone [1]. [1] I am including SSForum.net when I refer to 'zone' above.
  16. I think that claiming that Christianity is a necessary prerequisite to democracy is unwarranted. There have been plenty of successful democracies that weren't also composed largely of Christians. And there have been plenty of non-democratic nations that were run by Christians.
  17. Agreed. IMHO, well said.
  18. Not surprised.
  19. Iran, at least, is connected to Al-Qaeda. I don't know enough about Somalia to say either way, but I think it's premature to just assume that there were no connections to Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda, after all, is a shadowy, highly mobile and fluid global organization from what we know of it.
  20. HAHAHAHA Thanks X`terr... I needed that laugh.
  21. Decarbonated Mountain Dew?
  22. Agreed. Again, agreed.
