  1. Well, you replaced the exe correctly. If that was the cause, it might work Or it could be something entirely different that's causing this.
  2. Omhahahahaha! This is so cool, I want to see them get to parliament just for its shock factor I can't wait to hear how this turns out (although I'm pretty sure it'll just get crushed and receive no support). Also, agreed with SeVeR, too, mostly. The age of consent is 14 here in Estonia and since the last few generations are pretty much atheist (thank you, Soviet Union!), we have almost no religious teaching that would tell us things like "Sex before marriage is bad". I like the way we have it here - we have freedom Sex with animals is weird, though. Not the good kind of weird, either. Of course not many people would be involved in it but still... I'd prefer such weirdos to be kept in check <_< PS. I do think you changed the topic too much on the "To catch a predator" part, SeVeR.
  3. No, the file is c:\windows\explorer.exe, totally unrelated to IE and any desktop icons. Explorer IS the desktop, basically. Also, if it says file in use or something (can't overwrite), then just rename the original explorer.exe and copy the new one in.
  4. ocx files definitely need registration. If they don't then they were already registered and then just deleted
  5. And register it! regsvr32 blabla.ocx
  6. What directory is it installed in? Program Files? If it's somewhere weird, the path might be too long. Other option is that the directory rights are messed up. Try installing somewhere else.
  7. The problem is that your user account does not have the rights to write to the Continuum directory. The easiest way to solve this is to run the game from an account with administrator access.
  8. Hmm... options... why not. DCME does not have too many options yet
  9. Well... your access was denied! Do you have administrator rights on your computer? Only administrators can install stuff.
  10. It seems to be that MGB's host is sending out the trojan every 200th visit or so...
  11. Download and install Continuum .38 instead of .39pr1. The .39 version is not the full install, just an upgrade and that is what will give you this error - it can't find the base .38 install.
  12. Access denied is there because of Continuum's security, not any system settings.
  13. I've never heard of that site. Well, seems to be the wiki.
  14. Did you read the FAQ? It has a rather long overview of what causes this. In summary: some other program is interfering and being too nosy so Continuum's security algorithms are being triggered. Try uninstalling any "security" software or disabling them or putting Continuum on the exlcude list or things like that.
  15. My car has an air freshener. Seriously, though... what the heck was the point of your post, d1? On topic: yea, I noticed MZ-Tools a few weeks ago. It also has a version for C#, although I didn't find the full version anywhere The advanced features seemed possibly worthy, although most of it did seem rather useless to me.
  16. My question?
  17. Weird 3rd party software interfering. See the "COntinuum won't load" FAQ topic.
  18. And you can't start explorer manually? Anyway, here's explorer, try replacing yours or running this one. I'm thinking it could be some explorer add-on that's causing problems... do the autoruns thing and post the saved log here if this explorer does not work. explorer.zip
  19. For a second? For a minute? Who cares if it turns black for a second
  20. Erm... what is the problem? You can't log in with a new account? Make yourself clear, man! Only explorer? Anything else? If it's only explorer, I recommend you get a working explorer or reinstall windows. Maybe a trojan is not working well. Get explorer from someone else and copy it over. If you can use the computer somehow, you can zip and post the explorer.exe here so I can see if it's ok. If other things are erroring well, there might be more things at play. In that case, do this: Run Prime95 for an hour and memtest86 for 4-5 hours. See if they find any errors (they test the CPU and memory). I can't say much about anti-virus, since I never use them and I remove all trojans manually, without any AV... Erm... well, let's try the manual route a bit: Try Winternals Autoruns and disable any suspicious startup programs. If you're not sure what the bad stuff is, save the log from autoruns and post it here so I can tell you what to try disabling. Also try RootkitRevealer. Maybe your computer is infected with a crappily made erroring rootkit. If Continuum runs (at all) then it is not an old-fashined virus. Well, I haven't seen those in many many years, so heh. Yeah, those are quite dead. All in all, clarify the issue.
  21. What exactly is the problem? It goes back to the desktop? Isn't that supposed to happen after closing the game?

    Startup help.

Unix already is full of crap. Windows rules. This has run off-topic. Closed.
  23. DCME is fast enough, don't worry about any theoretical "well-performing" stuff. As for your methods, I can't comment since I do not know much about the internal structure of thing thing... except that it is not very OO
  24. It would lead to distortions in any case. But if you have nothing better to do... (cough walltiles cough )

Most users won't easily find the truly nasty crap.
