  3. There are much faster processors out there, just depends what they're handling to how fast they are at making their calculations. I believe they're using the Sony chips as they're each a single core, but using some twelve thousand chips to share calculations. I suppose this would be much cheaper than using much more powerful chips, I've seen 80Core micro-processors, but building a machine of equal processing speed would probably be a lot more expensive if they were to use 150 specialised chips rather than 12,000 chips that are already in m!@#$%^&* production. I suppose it would also be a lot more complicated to get 80Core processors to talk to another 150 processors that are alike. I feel sorry for the computer architects that had to design this. Poor guys... Wow, after actually reading the article, they're actually using three different types of processor. The total count of processor cores in the machine is 116,640. I wonder how long it is before they make a computer that can break the exaflop speed. Interesting... As for the !@#$%^&*le... Warp Speed: 26,192,795.27 Miles Per Second Road Runner Calculation Speed: 1,026,000,000,000,000 Calculations Per Second -Lynx

  5. I completely agree with this notion, but I'm very doubtful to whether it will ever come into practice. -Lynx

  9. There could be many theories created as to why these forums have been made, why Aceflyer seems to be running the show, what their actual need its... However, if you go to the source and if any of these theories are true, the forums will become redundant within a month or two, and forgotten about. I personally think it's about time this thread dies, and something useful is put to all of this wasted time. Ps. Long posts aren't cool when they could have been summed up in two lines, Knight. :/ -Lynx Knights post, in condensed, so you don't have to read the stuff that isn't of any use to anybody: Spoiler! --Click here to view--Hacks/Cheats:It has been made quite clear that discussion of "bugs" will not be discussed. Public events/developement projects: (mainly in refrence to the cross-zone event) In that regard, the cross-zone event has barely been scratched as to the method of it being done, let alone everyone who will hop on the bandwagon or contribute to it. Location: It's been stated quite a few times, but seeing as people only read a few posts before commenting, the simplistic reason of us not being hosted at ssfn (this forum) is because of some political standpoint. Creation of the forum: Simply to compliment the large number (or so it seems) of in-game admin-type chats already available to most sysops. Access to it? I'll leave that to BG and those good folks to decide. Why should you care? You shouldn't.
  10. I've created a few loops, contact me on MSN for them. Cheers, Lynx

  12. What, like SSForum.net? I tried adding input, but was accused of overcomplicating things, like you saw. It seems BlueGoku has his methods set in stone, it's just when he's going to run the next event that is holding the problem. :/ I think that it being private to whom it concerns is good enough, it's not there for public discussion, it's there for zone owners to talk about possible issues (if any do occur), otherwise, may as well be redundant. If development issues do arise, and projects can actually get past, or near the planning stage, then they should be posted publicly. As admittance to the forums (For players who do not have SysOp status in an SSC zone) has been, and should still be judged on a case-by-case method, anybody who can contribute something, should be enlisted onto the forums. The only reason cases should be denied is if the person has a "bad record" - otherwise, they should be allowed to freely join. I see no reason to not allow people to join, as this is a free, dying, old game, and each person who does actually give a !@#$%^&*, should be rewarded. This probably would not have been even a slight issue if Aceflyer hadn't posted this topic which would have obviously attracted flaming, and would have been a much smoother project if each player was requested privately. It's not hard to find those who do develop, and private forms help prevent the trolls. Furthermore, there's no stopping anybody from requesting SSC !@#$%^&*istance, or any other form of !@#$%^&*istance on SSForum.net, from what I can see, this is still a much more popular forum, with many more hits every day. Cheers, -Lynx
  13. In GTAIV you've gotta get in reverse and hit them again, and then get out and pick up their money. !@#$%^&*ed up the whole process in my opinion. :/ -Lynx
  14. Probably not, I'd think, although that is not set in stone. ^^ Unprofessional. I'll leave it at that. :/ ---- What is said on the forums is administrative to SSC its self, and ergo, doesn't require the typical spam posts which you'd receive from public forums. The only talk which I could possibly see going public, are some small development plans. These development plans obviously require full SSC !@#$%^&*istance, and are therefore on the SSC forums. If these plans do actually get past planning, I'm sure that they will be made at least partially public. I doubt that there will be much need for !@#$%^&*istance, however, there may be some polling required to optimise how well the projects work if they're going to be single version projects however, (I'd hope) that all new projects will be open source, or at least module based so further improved versions can be created. ---- Game VIPs: I see no reason why Game VIPs (or developers) can't view at least the development threads on the forums, they usually have more experience in both staffing, and developing than SysOps anyway, and I'd bet they have a much better idea of what the public actually wants and needs. The only sensitive information is the banG lists, which can easily be made private to VIPs. There's more that I'd like to say, but I simply can't be bothered to feed the trolls. Cheers, -Lynx Edit: Further support for nitpickers.
  15. To add the lighting effect, you just need to edit the colours so you can only see the texture, then add all of the files into the same canvas and use the lighting effect on the canvas, then split the images - it should look pretty "professional" again after - but with the possibilities of other disp. backgrounds, I don't know why anybody would want to go to all of that fuss for something that is after all, just VIE looking. Stop living in the past. -Lynx
