  1. I CAN'T TELL IT'S ALL BLUREY
  2. They didn't 'guess' the passwords, they decrypted them... which means even if your pass is 'adf9873kjajd?/3jhjh54j1hjhjgadkfha', or 'god', they could have it But that is only if you are using the same password on the SVSZone/TWDL than ingame, or here, or in your email. I recall the more complex hashes having to go through rainbows, and I know LC uses ridiculously long passwords (for some reason). L.C., I'd say you're in the clear for a day or three longer than anybody else. -L
  3. Fine on Safari 4 Beta (Mac). -L
  4. Mm, that's a good point. The malware stuff completely slipped me.
  5. Of course, development communication would be a lot more poor, but even still... Zone development wouldn't slow down much, if at all... And I think Client Development would be around the same, too... As far as I can tell, zone development is usually done within the zone, client development is usually done by maybe two or three people and as for map editors, you know the stats on that best. I'm not attacking the forum, I'm just saying... Advertising, Forums etc aren't the saviors of this game, game development is.
  6. Contacting Google etc about it won't make no difference. Their bots scrape anything and everything, you only have the option to not index their results. -L
  7. There's nothing to advertise. We've just got to fight stagnation, and make things easier to understand for newcomers. It's nothing new that things like asss are a lot more complex than subgame, and with the amount of bullshit we have flying around in terms of what to use to edit things, it's all quite overwhelming to the newcomer. Back when I was a kid, understanding things like subgame, ssme, settings files, bots were very straight forward. However, now it's more like understanding Linux, then asss, the array of bots, on top of DCME, settings files and whatever else. Maybe a very simple walkthrough on everything would be useful, I started writing some parts on my sub-zone forum, but real life has kicked in again. I don't have the time to write anything else on this reply, no matter SS. -Lynx Don't get me wrong. Forums, flashy websites, all that shit is useful, but... They're not what's killing SS. If this Forum was offline for three months, would SS pop die? I doubt it'd even drop. Also @ grazzhoppa: modding up = adding +1 rating to your post. We had that feature, but it got removed... lamely enough.
  8. I can't get onto the forum half the time, because it's apparently always too busy.
  9. When I coded for Extreme Games zone, I had the exact same mentality. Those unknown / casual / new players kept me motivated to come back to work after I'd hit a wall. Unfortunately when my work started depending on other staff's work, the laid back nature of that staff sapped any motivation I had. I felt like I was walking through mud for miles when I needed other staff to do fairly simple things to help me out. The answer to "Is it worth it anymore?" becomes NO when you depend on other zone volunteers to be responsible. This game offer much to those who are able to run zones, websites, forums by themselves. But when coordination & mutual responsibility is needed between people who run the game/zones/community portals, we barely get shit done. If I could mod this up, I would. -L
  10. We just need somebody to code it. It looks pretty simple, but I found it hard getting it past a ship that could fly around and have some other ships chase and shoot it. There's loads of code around out there, so to be completely honest... You just need a vague idea of how to write action-script, but more of an idea of how to use Flash etc. -L

SSL, but I don't mind if a zone wants to use their own prefix, or no prefix at all. Users will be given a limited access user account on my Lenny server, which will have asss, MERV and web folders setup. This saves time, and bandwidth in sending files etc. You'll also be able to use the server to store any subspace related content. There is also access within FTP to a lot of useful MERV plugins, and asss code. The server will have 99.9% uptime on my end, including scripts to relaunch it if your code crashes it. I'm happy for you to use other things like AP_Multipub, provided you let me know what ports you're going to be using - and as I said I provide SSH so you can do all of your compiles on the server. This saves you needing to use a virtual machine for asss etc. Unless you have a domain name, everything will be under my personal website sub-domain. i.e. yoursite.krslynx.com. Again, I'm happy to host your domain name too, if that helps. If you're new to asss, and want to learn more I'm also willing to spend some time explaining things as best as I can, however as I work a hell of a lot, this will mainly be via e-mail. E-Mail me: krslynx[ at ]gmail[ d0t ] com for any further information. -Lynx
  12. 7 She was talking about re-doing it and making it into a game, but this was way back in... June/July last year, I believe. Somebody told me that s/he's quit, however.. L Y N X> ?find 7Not online, last seen 9 days ago -Lynx
  13. I tried doing this, but I'm not good enough with Flash... There was somebody in a chat of mine a while ago, who was very good of flash. She was an MG player, her alias has just left my head right now. I'll remember it sooner or later, though. :/
  14. Yeah, I used to always use a 1920xsomething and have to restrict to play in TW. -L
  15. Your Forum has been compromised... again. -L
  16. Snipers game?
  17. I know it can be done easily in Linux by changing the xorg.conf file in /etc/X11, so maybe look for something similiar to the xorg.conf file? Although, I kinda doubt this will be available in Windows. -L
  18. For money, as we've realised, so this topic is pretty much over.
  19. Reputation system, or whatever.
  20. You removed the /. style modding system? -- @Ace: 'I agree that the reputation and post rating features are a bad idea. I think they go against the idea of SSForum being a neutral forum for free and open discussion. Rather, these features facilitate 'e-popularity' contests and permit the possibility of people piling up on 'unpopular' ideas.' No, because if we had a modding system I could have just modded your post down, and wrote in my post 'Modding is better, because it lets me mod down spammers and crappy ideas' - It's still open discussion, just more statistical. As for e-popularity, I completely disagree. It's not like people are going to be saying 'zomg, mod me up!' because that will just epicly fail, as it always does on every other mod based system. Then onto the unpopular ideas bit - I think people generally judge by themselves on what ideas are popular and unpopular, just because it already says +50 doesn't mean anybody will automatically click the little + button again. :/ -L
  21. He will reply to your E-Mail within a week, that's how long he usually takes for anything I've asked him for lately.

    Zone Hosts

I can provide asss hosting for any development zones, including FTP/SSH access and HTTP hosting. Full MySQL support, and testing PostGreSQL database too. Also, if you'd want SSC hosting after, I can provide that in my zone as a sub-zone. However, any hosting under my SSC zone would mean postgres databases only. I can also provide MERVBot spawns on WINE and I'll expect that you have some Linux knowledge, and asss knowledge as you'll be setting everything up on your own. Whatever you do is up to you, abuse it and you lose it. -Lynx

    Team Speak

Vent used to be pretty good, if you want some dedicated hosting for it don't hesitate to contact me. -L

    Team Speak

I've always been kinda critical of team speak until something is made that works *with Continuum, maybe an asss extension. However, good luck with your project, but why not just use Skype? -L
