  1. You don't have rights because you didn't tell Vista what to do in the install. Vista doesn't work the same way as other OS', it doesn't actually have an administrative account, that is why you will still see features such as "run as administrator..." in the right click. Vista's goal is to protect you from absolutely every threat possible, which is a good thing, except it also protects you from you. Your problems are in no way related to Vista itself, but to VirtualStore (which is only compatible with Vista). And now that we know VirtualStore is connected to your UAC (User Account* Control), I would recommend turning it off. The advantage is no more annoying warnings, popups, redirects, write errors, and other errors; the disadvantage is you will be less (but still) protected. How to turn it off: 1.Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Security -> Security Center 2. In "Other Security Settings" disable UAC For most Vista users, you will not have to worry about your files. Things such as .log files should still work as long as no other programs are blocking access to them. - Changing it to .txt can help, since Vista recognizes text files as harmless. For any other graphical issues, remember never to set your resolution in Continuum above (or even below) your desktop resolution, set the color bit to 32 bits in the options, never run Continuum under "Compatability mode"... For graphical issues, you may have to check "Software Emulation" in the advanced options. Same goes for screenshot problems.
  2. One last day until sign ups close! So hurry up and join Devastation's Dueling Tournament!
  3. One last day! Hurry up and sign up!
  4. This message is biller-wide right as I post this, since there's no one in Devastation besides me atm. So maybe this continuum update isn't really far-off?

    SSCI Halo

Unfortunately we cannot do anything about it, you will have to complain to SSCI Halo's staff members (or on their forums if they happen to have one)
  6. Put it this way, even if, I repeat, even if 0.39 comes out, the only bug that will be actually fixed is the thor prox thing. But Priitk won't do anything, it's obvious. The only actual people close enough to a new client are Bak (discretion) and Pyxlz (PSpace)
  7. I can't edit my own !@#$%^&*le, which sucks, but it's technically official, since everyone's approved of it (including XDOOM/tm_master/SOS).
  8. Yeah, I went through 2 days of !@#$%^&* after I updated to Vista, because the upgrade came full of bugs. (the most notorious one was a bug that cause explorer.exe to crash almost all the time - luckily though, Vista doesn't entirely crash) There's quite a few things that still don't work, and I hate how it doesn't remember my folder view (despite what MS says, it honestly doesn't). There's no "up" button which also pisses me off, and Paint saves default .jpg image, so if you're not paying attention, you lost all your quality. Another bug I've run into is the language bar doesn't dock in taskbar when you first load your computer, instead it loads twice (one docked, one not). I could rant about a million other things, but I can't complain entirely. I like eye candy, I love the language support, security (though I disabled those crap warning messages - 7 windows to delete a single file? re!@#$%^&*ed.), and a few other things. I would never recommend it though, unless you don't plan to use it for major work.
  9. Fact: It's not Ahmed's game, it's Rak'kars. Ahmed owns the domain, and can technically do anything he wants with the domain. And at its present state, I doubt he's making money off subspace.net
  10. lol, be impressed now while you can, soon enough you'll start to realize Vista really is only eye candy. And while being safer, it's at the risk of having many things not work.
  11. Couch potato time! Ok I lied. Part-time job and lots of biking to get there n back.
  12. lals, funny stuff. Always thought DS was corrupt, so why so surprised?
  13. wtf is .buy red Does it force everyone into ship 5? Edit: Oh, found out today... And I know why SOS added it (but it's like on for godly forever long)
  14. Because someone asked me to post this in the general forums... Devastation is having a Dueling Tournament, and we're inviting all of you SubSpace players to come prove your skills by signing up for the tournament! So what is it? All the people who sign up will be randomly !@#$%^&*igned an opponent, in which they will have to duel each other to 10 deaths. The player who wins, will advance to the next round. The player who loses... loses The tournament is NOT a 1-day thing. There will be date limits (say roughly 10 days each round) for both you and your partner to find time to duel each other. The duel of course, has to be done in our zone, SSCI Devastation. Any ship, any arena (except pub). We also ask that you get a 3rd player to watch over the duel or a mod, and then send the results on our forum or message me in-game (?message=Hakaku:Score between player1 & player2 was 10-0 for p1) This gives more flexibility to players as we know many of you will either have summer plans, or school starting. MORE INFORMATION HERE & RULES Sign Up! Here's how to sign up: You can either ?message me in-game, or post on our topic here. PLEASE MENTION THE ALIAS YOU WILL BE USING AND THE SHIP NUMBER/TYPE. Signups end on August 15th, 2007. There is no max limit for players. Please encourage others to visit this topic and signup. Do You have what it takes to become Deva's #1 top duelist?
  15. Exactly. Let's say we started the tournament tomorrow. I'd give roughly 10 days or so for you and your partner to find time to duel. If all the duels are done earlier than that, then we can start the next round
  16. Vista doesn't have the same problems as XP, so you should be fine running Continuum with or without firewalls.
  17. I'd rather him release the source so that someone more competent could develop Continuum. Otherwise, he'll just keep promising us crap.
  18. And just to clarify things: The dueling tournament will be in the same format as Flyingfinn's, because it's the most convenient way of doing it with a smaller playerbase.: "How it would work is everyone will randomly be given a partner then you and your partner make up amongst yourself when you do the duel and the winner advances to next round etc. " The difference is, I'm being less restrictive than FF was, and allowing players to choose their ship. Once it will be set up, each player will have a random opponent that they must duel. The pairs will have to decide between each other the arena they will duel in. The arena can be anything in the zone Devastation only EXCEPT PUB. Do not choose race or maze maps, as they don't have settings. I recommend the arenas "duel" and "elim". The main reason for allowing players to pick their arena is because the settings for a ship might be at a disadvantage in an arena (such as levi in ?go duel - shrap is not effective) - thx to jds for pointing this out too. There will also be a fixed date for each round, if you and your partner cannot duel each other by that time, you will be disqualified (hopefully not), unless you request extra time because you have a good reason (e.g. vacation)

  20. Round 2 begins! http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/3355/ddt03lb5.png Rasta420 advances (10-4) Update: Since no one has a wacky ship, all duels must now be done in ?go duel. The second round ends OCTOBER 6TH 2007 (SATURDAY), that is, roughly 2 weeks from this post. If an extension is requested, I may not grant it this time. There's only 3 duels that have to be performed, so please do them as soon as possible. This means contacting your opponent and fixing a day and time to duel. If you are unable to do this, you will be eliminated. Round 1 results Laserman advances (10-5) Senjacky advances (10- Rasta420 advances (10-5) Clee1 advances (10-3) No_remorse advances (10- DareSound advances (10-7) Russky advances (null)* SOS advances (5-1)* *note: Snot+ has not been online for quite a while (intervals between 8 and 6 days offline), while Russky has. Russky therefore advances. - I don't know if the duel (SOS vs. E> The above image will display wins and losses as the tournament progresses. Every player will be notified of their opponent in-game, and it is your duty to find time to duel your opponent and keep up with the tournament. The first round ends SEPTEMBER 1ST 2007 (SATURDAY), that is, roughly 10 days from this post. Please follow the rules, and get a third player or moderator to watch over your match. You must post your results on this forum and/or message me in-game (?message=Hakaku:blabla). If you're curious as to how everyone was randomized, I had originally thought of putting everyone's name in a hat, but then decided to use a program called "The Hat" and paired two players in order. The first try/shuffle was the one I picked, and I'm not changing the listing. I appoligize if you were unfairly paired, but this is a tournament after all! Anyhow, best of luck to all those who are participating Recap: Duel, first to die 10 times loses. You must use the ship you specified at the bottom of this post. Note: Clee1 replaces Gibbit by request. Note2: DareSound (aka The Stranger) has replaced Master Mike due to inactivity both on the forums and in-game. Attraction and DareSound have until September the 1st to duel if possible. The Tournament Since it's August, and there's less than a month of summer to go for most people around, why not have a tournament? Last time Flyingfinn had organized a tournament (here), but unfortunately never got around to finishing it. So this time, I'd like for all the mods of Devastation help out in case I suddenly disappear or get overloaded with real life or something else for some apparent reason. The tournament is not expected to be fast-paced, so there may be prolongued date limits for each round. The rules (first round) -The duels will be to 10 deaths, with no winby factor. First player to die with 10 deaths is eliminated. -If both players die at the same time, then it's a tie and no score is given to either player (nc) -The ship type is not restricted, however you must choose 1 ship before the tournament starts, and stick to that ship. -The map in which you do your duel is not restricted (?go duel is recommended though), but be aware that greens can give an unfair advantage. You are however, not allowed to duel in pub (?go). -If you kill your opponent, move away or go into a safe and wait until both players call out "ready" and "go!". This prevents spawn laming, or players who weren't ready. Also, be courteous and no cheating. Only 1 alias is allowed. We recommend that you get 3rd player or a mod to watch over the game. The arena you and your opponent choose to duel in is your own responsibility (be aware of flags, balls, gravity, alternative settings, etc.). After a duel has been performed, you should either post on this topic, or message me in-game (?message=Hakaku:blabla 0-10 jds) with your score results. In the event that you do not follow the rules, you will face being removed from the tournament. Sign Up! Here's how to sign up: You can either ?message me in-game, or post on this topic. PLEASE MENTION THE ALIAS YOU WILL BE USING AND THE SHIP NUMBER/TYPE. Signups end on August 15th, 2007. There is no max limit for players but if we don't get enough there will be no tournament or I will extend the signup date. Please encourage others to visit this topic and signup. Current player roster: Hakaku - Ship 2 Rasta420 - Ship 6 Gibbit - Ship 6 Master mike - Ship 2 JDS - Ship 2 E>Laserman - Ship 1 Shad0ws - Ship 1 Attraction - Ship 6 Senjacky - Ship 2 SOS - Ship 2 No_Remorse - Ship 6 Cancer+ - Ship 7 Nike! - Ship 6 Snot+ - Ship 2 006-Ryan- (aka Mage-) - Ship 6 Russky - Ship 1 Clee1 - Ship 6 DareSound - Ship 6

  22. I think it's an interesting design, but kinda too cluttered, especially with all the asteroids. But other than that, it's got potential

    League

I'm not shooting the idea down, I'm just providing an alternative suggestion. When you develop a league, normally it'll be bot controlled instead of mod controlled. The reason for that is because you not only have to rely on your teammates to be there, and your opponents, you'd also have to rely on a mod. and as we know, there isn't a mod on 24/7 (if there is, they're specced and afk). - So unless you really want this to be mod controlled, or can provide someone with leet skills to code a bot to detect who is defending base with neuted flags, then answer my questions in my other post. Anyhow, nothing's written in stone as far as I see, so I thought I'd post my imput. If you don't want it, then I'll stop posting.
  25. Can you fix links inside the SSC biller too? Last I checked, some error messages tell players to visit subspace.net .
