This is part of the boring stuff, im releasing Essentially its SSC2, central, secure user auth, which a big diffence, it allows untrusted networks to connect without fear of a players passwords being stolen... this is part of the backend stuff, that i need to complete before the client can go much further.... That was a stock market crash, not a recession.... A recession was postponed by people spending like crazy and racking up massive debts. The problem is now the lending markets mean people and companies cannot borrow any more money, or borrow as easily. We've had a very long and unpresedented (prehaps unsutainable?) peiriod of growth. The last recession in the UK was around 1990-92 time. I was only around 6-8 at the time... Alot of people lost everything, their business, jobs, and homes. I think interest rates ended up running at around 15%. The things that happen in the market DO affect us directly In a recession demand drops, people stop spending, they are making less money, companies to cut costs and overheads (one way of doing this is reducing there staff). Less people with money (as they have been fired) means less money being spend. This also means that companies make less stuff, so prices of stuff rises. As stuff is more expensive even less people buy it. As the company can't sell anything more, it goes bankrupt and all the people there lose there jobs. People without jobs dont spend much so another company now has less sales and is forced to cut costs. Its a cycle. How do we get out of a recession? We need the rich people hoarding money to spend, so it filters down... The situation we are at the moment is on the brink. If we sucess in getting out of the current situation or not, we will find out by next year..

A couple of random tips. If you create a file called "!@#$%^&*le.dat" you can change the name of the continuum window. Create a file called splash.bm2 and put it in /graphics will change splash screen. Change Chatbg.bm2 to change the chat window background.

chat 8 is only readonly for staff on subgame servers. ASSS servers don't have this problem.

If the server never recieves a request it doesnt matter, as it wont respond. The client would have to handle this by sending a ping after a timeout period (say 5 secounds). And if it recieved a response to that ping in that time to resend the command. Alternativly it could drop the connection and reconnect. Hmm another thing i left out. It uses TCP. Which means the packets will arrive in order and no packets should be lost. I also probably should add each command is terminated by a new line character. Also i need to add pings can be sent at any time. Even if a command is in progress. Does anyone have any comments on the general overview? The idea of this sturcture is to separate usernames from networks, so you can have one name for ALL networks. But networks and zones will not be able to see your password. Meaning its very easy to add new zones and networks without worrying about players names being stolen. Essentially if the same princible was applied now it would make it possible for ALL zones to be on SSC.... However individual networks and zones would decide bans, and name restictions.

We've had enough nukes to distroy the planet for 50 odd years now. The biggest problem we face is overpopulation. Comdidty Prices for Iron, Gold, Platinum, Food, Oil are at record highs, and the prices will only continue to rise. Additionally as more and more people need these resources, the resouses themselves are getting harder to find. In 5 years time both the artic and antartic will be being commercially mined for minarals. The Earth is rapidly running out of room. If anyone has seen a population curve in biology, we are heading towards the peak before the drop. To prevent the drop (ie m!@#$%^&* loss of life, due to lack of food/war or resources etc) We need to start exploring and colonizing and mining other planets, in order to ensure our survival. we've got about 25 years to start doing this...provided nothing happens to resolve the population problem by itself.... Technologically, we have the technology to do it now. whats holding us back at the moment is the risk adverseness that is rampant in society today.... I think China will be the first country to colonise Mars or the Moon. The one invention that would revelutionalise space travel would be faster than light speed communications, this is arguably more imporatant than faster than light speed travel. Having an 8 minute communications (16 mins for a round trip) lag to mars is really useless for anything realtime... Imagain trying to play SS with an 16minute ping. Thats how they had to control that mars rover explorer....

The client must not send another request untill it has a responce back. The server will ignore any requests it recieves that are not valid for the servers current state, a request changes the servers state. I probably should make that clear.

try running it in safe mode and see if it does the same. If it runs ok in safe mode its a problem with one of your pluggins.
