All of the servers are free. The problem is you are trying to login with a username that has already been registered. Unfortunatly the error is very unclear this is the problem. Bascially add a few numbers to the end of your username and you should be able to get in. You can always use ?find playername in game to see if a name you want is free and use that instead after you have entered the game. My secound point is to the wider community and SSC Council, is it worth me continuuing working on this installer, as I know a number of people have this issue that Simon has experienced, and would my installer get support if i developed if futher and fixed the bugs? (ie would it be put on the official sites).

Robots will take on alot of the factory jobs (in china, india etc) as the tech becomes cheaper.

Ya the main problem is there computer is too slow to run the bloatware that is vista I still think my oringial point stands as the result of ver 5 years of developement vista hasnt lived up to the hype, or the time it took to come out. Its not really that much different from XP...
-
I'm not a vista hater i just think it was massivly over hypered. For 5years of work they've achieved impressivly little. It makes we wonder what where they doing for 5 years....When you compare the difference between windows 98 and windows XP (A 3/4 year gap) and the massive improvements that made with 5 years for vista which is like XP with extra bells and wistles and nanny clippy running the show you can see why people are disappointed. All the really exciting things about vista were dropped like the sql based filesystem and cli .net based kernel (.net programs would run nativly) were dropped) once vista hits sp2 it will be usable and the hardware has caught up to run bloatware and i will buy Bacially anyone who buys before sp2 is paying to be a beta tester. was same for XP,windows 2000,windows 98... Once the hardware caught up they became usable. XP was a bloated and slow turd for a while, and the sensible ppl stuck with windows 2000 but no one remembers that Just imagain how fast they would run XP I know the new computers (core2duo) we have at work with XP Pro boot up (from switch on to desktop) in under 10 secounds.

The idea of cource has always been to sell software as a service. So you would have to pay say 20$/mo for the privilage of using windows

Update: STF is still active. Alot going on behind the scenes. Working on tying network to game code together at the moment. Not entirely sure if my design is going to work but i think its better to try and get something out that works then try and fix it, even if it needs a compete rewrite. Basically i'm developing a concept called "Phases" which is like a type of game play. This can include offline play. How this will work out i'm not sure

An interesting stat from Trenchwars http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?p=648441

Don't go for this deal, unless they can provide some traffic statistics that show they get 100k+ hits per day. If they not providing traffic stats it means they hiding something Also WoW and MMRPG people are NOT our target audiance. We want to target people who don't have hours and hours on their hands and are kinda poor, who like a game they can dip in and out of and they can play on their crappy connection+ pc. Subspace's core market is the people who play Wii. We want people who dont wanna pay money for their games. Bascially we're after cheapskates and casual gamers 300€ is way over priced consudering the size of their forum For 300 pounds i could get an advert in some national or regional press here. For 300 pounds could get some nice Facebook or Myspace adverts. To give you an idea of how overpriced this deal is http://www.megatokyo.com/support 160$ for 100,000 page impressions in a very popular and long running webcomic. I've been reading megatokyo for years. An advert on CAD would be worth it too. Thats a solid adverting deal, not "some people might read it" I strongly suggest avoiding solicited advertising. The best advertisers dont have to advertise, people come to them....You never see any real computer games magazines asking for advertising do you?

This has been done

Alternatively if you can convert the bots to linux i can host them

Why not convert to ASSS?

Prehaps it would be better to try and stop all kinda of bullying rather than focusing on the medium though which it happens. E!@#$%^&*entially try and get people to be nice to each other!

I will look forward to seeing the result of your work with interest. I'm facing the same issues, epescially with server synconisation. http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article1370.asp I think HL2/CS:Source handles this by rolling back the game state and seeing if when you originally shot the bullet it would have hit its target, taking into account movement of the target whilst the bullet is in motion.

Probably around 20% The aim is to have a playable alpha by the new year.

Might need some help with the framerate issue, ill be merging my code into the trunk in the next few days, if anyone has some ideas would be interested. Heres a couple of weeks old demo which shows off some (vaugly) exiting things. -sprite rotation and selection -sprite animation (check out the rotating asteroid on "fire") -unoptimised particle engine (rather lame fire only one color) Particle engine is something you might enjoy expanding on and improving. http://subspace2.net/demo8.zip Also need some way of splitting a LVL up such that i can render the part that is visible each frame, not the entire thing each frame. ill be merging my code into the trunk in the next few days I think the engine is fairly close to reaching a milestone in terms of its 2d support. Still need to create & customize the design of GUI and HUD ingame. As I've said before the main aim by the end of the year is to have at least the functionality (that does not mean it will work in anyway similar internally or have the same api ) of the current continuum game engine.

also its http://subspace2.net/kernel32.dll.so you missed out the 2 I've fixed the link.

Where I live we are increasingly turning into a monitored and totalitarian state. laws passed to catch "terrorists" are being used to pusure ordinary people http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7369543.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/7341179.stm Yesterday there "representatives" of our country voted to allow someone to be detained for 42 days without charge. That means you can be locked up for 42 days then released. It allows people to be taken out of society arbitrarily. You might think so what, i'm not a terrorist, i have nothing to fear pretty much anyone can be detained as a "terrorist" under the terrorism act. http://education.guardian.co.uk/higher/new...2282045,00.html http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article579334.ece http://gizmonaut.net/bits/suspect.html http://blog.penguinpowered.org/2007/12/19/...rist-in-the-uk/

Which version of ubuntu u running? Hmm it sounds like a graphics problem, what card do you have? Also have you tried changing the bit depth in continuum settings? Bascailly for some reason continuum isnt shutting down properly when you exit. If you use the command "top" (q to exit) you should be able to find the PID for Continuum then issue KILL 1234 (replace 1234 with the pid), and it should kill the continuum process and let you run it again.
-
Ensure you only run continuum after you have installed the patch. If you have run it all before you installed the patch, you will need to reboot your computer.
