  1. Yes, genes can cause a physical fault within the brain. However, that can't affect homosexuality because to do that is to consider homosexuality to be a neural disorder, one has to assume that possibility away because to hypothesise homosexuality to be a mental disease is a political correctness no-no. I mean, on some level to atribute one's entire behavior one's genes and environment is to deny one's own free will.
  2. I took it down and was planning on fixing it. Then, I suddenly had some things pop up in real life that require my attention. I'll be available for fixing it saturday.
  3. I wouldn't be so sure this was the first time this study is done. However - no. Genes determine the physical characteristics of a person, and homosexuality is behavior. It would be like a BMW driver traveling 25 mph over the speed limit, and then when he gets pulled over, blaming it on the auto engineer because the car was 'designed to go fast'.
  4. Well, I am Catholic, and the answer would be 'none'. The Church has a dedicated department for checking in to miracles. The Church also would have no problems hearing about any miracle that happens. If a miracle occurs, the local priest will hear about it, he'll tell the bishop, the bishop will tell the cardinal, and the cardinal will get the investigation started. The Catholic Church is regarded as being the best organization on Earth for gathering information, much better than the CIA infact - if Osama Bin Laden ever stepped one toe inside of a Christian country, strike forces from four or five countries would be closing on his position in about 15 minutes. I guess I must also state the standards these miracles go by. The 'I saw his face on a grilled cheese sandwich', though popular on the internet, does not qualify. Generally if you could standardize miracles, the most common type would be somebody who was deathly ill suddenly recovering from their disease after the doctors have run out of treatments, with some sort of second event to attribute it to the proper saint. The witnesses have to be investigated by psychologists to rule out mental diseases and bold-faced lying, and the physical event itself has to be investigated by scientists of the appropriate field. Miracles have a greater tendancy of occuring in third world countries, mostly because God likes to help out those in dire need, not the 'kinda sorta would be nice ifs'. Thus, they don't make it to the news or the internet because there is probably only one phone line within 100 miles of the event.
  5. I think when X`terr wanted a link, he was referring to the cite of the organization collecting money which you referred to, not the definition of the word "indulgence". As of yet we don't even have any name of this "Church sponsored organization", what they would say their mission is, how they plan on accomplishing it, etc. All we have is vague statements made by somebody who has an axe to grind. So far this seems to me like nothing more than a straw-man arguement to promote some anti-Catholic rhetoric. That would be like me saying that I've heard of a group of Trench Wars players who've set up a website so that they can raise funds to hire an army of mercenaries and stage a coup in Botswana, and therefore Prittk is evil. I don't know if its true, I don't know what their goals are, and I don't know if they are connected with Trench War's central command. Thus, I'm citing rumor, and twisting it to sound as radical as possible so that I have something that's easy to disagree with.
  6. Um, no, that's not what's written there. The fact that 15 turns is not making things less random is true. The theory that it was making things more random is false. Turns don't affect the random factor.
  7. I'm secretive because I'm just a mysterious person. Sound thought that the 15 turn attack didn't make things less random and infact made them more random. He's half-right becuase the first part of his theory was correct but the second part false.
  8. I checked the code, and most of your suspicions were confirmed. Increasing the max attack turns did make the 10-turn attack less effective, though I will also point out that there are a couple other reasons why the two of you will have lower hauls than before. Also, I was primarily concerned with slowing things down, so I never checked to see how turns impact the random factor. Now I did. Turns don't affect the random factor at all, so Sound's suspicion is half-correct.
  9. Objective 1 of changing max attack turns to 15 was to slow things down a bit. It did that. Making things less random was a secondary goal. I didn't think it would decrease the hauls. However, what I will do is look inside the attack formula to investigate.
  10. Just finished my mathematics degree, with also something close to a minor in physics. Thought I'd go into crypotology, then simulator making, but haven't had any luck, so I guess it's grad school for me. I mean it's wierd...I am qualified to do the positions I'm applying for...I'm just not as qualified as the people with more specific majors. No, you don't have ADHD...college life simulates all forms insanity. I for one thought I was going psychotic, turns out it was just stress. It's not as unusual as you think to want to kill and eat the campus squirrels. It's mostly caused by hunger, stress, and the fact that those things are !@#$%^&* annoying and don't even act like wild animals. The tolerability of roomates depends on major. For instance, my roommates and I weren't best of friends. I was science, they were humanities. Thus, they had tons of free time and a big social life, where I had to stay and home, work a lot, and spend my free time on the computer with you clowns. Thus, I was causing messes I didn't always have time to clean up, while they had free reign to goof off during the big study times. I remember my roomate inviting three friends over every night during finals week. At first I figured that they were studying, like I was. About the third day, I was going to the kitchen for a beer, looked over and found out that they had been playing pencil and paper D & D the whole time - During Finals Week!!!! I had to work. It disturbs me to no end that I was jealous of people who had so much free time as to waste it in such a stupid manner.
  11. It was on sale...apparantly nobody else wanted to get one. It is sort of secret agent like though...what looks like an ordinary lapel pin actually is casing for a miniature flash drive containing the telemetry of my secret death ray satelite. No holes allowed Sama...the inside is solid silicon chip.
  12. Do you see a place for a string?
  13. http://www.microdimensionsdirect.com/pictures/products/small/1829_0.jpg This isn't the actual size, but the real thing isn't much bigger. Those four prongs you see at the bottom are the USB port. The thickness of the thing is only a couple of millimeters. The flash drive is so small that it doesn't even have the standard aluminum casing around the USB plug.

Actually, that was more of a gloat over my so-called impending doom more than a whine. The odds of a player coming out of the blue and taking my covert away is about the same as a different player coming by and taking JDS's attack away...and we've already had the one freak occurrance of that in Syrus this round.
  16. There are two big clans, listed in the "Clan Scores" sticky, which over the course of a month and a half are neck and neck scorewise, the SSCentral Gods (the clan I'm on) and the 1337 Soldiers (the clan he's running). For the first month, the Gods were in the lead, but a couple weeks later, the Soldiers started getting all of the tallies. By the end of September, the Soldiers managed to get in the lead. At that point, I sold my offense, trained all my soldiers as spies, and started sabbing everyone on his clan. Due to how the rules are written, you can't attack somebody with fewer than 1/5th your army size, and spies don't count. Thus while I have 100,000 peons, only 8,000 of them are non-spies, and thus only a player wither fewer than 40,000 soldiers can attack me. I can tell you from experience that when I had someone do this to me, I found it annoying too. The best way to describe it is to say I'm engaging in guerilla warfare against JDS. He could kick my !@#$%^&*...if only he could pin me down in an engagement. So, right now, I'm sabbing him daily, which is hurting his armory fairly bad...not bad enough that he can't stockpile arms, but enough so that if he had compe!@#$%^&*ion it would have beaten him by now. The Gods have all but caught up to the soldiers, and could very well retake the lead by noon. Point being, I've done something to get on his nerves, and until he comes up with a creative way to strike back at me, it will remain that way. As for the annoying person who did this same thing to me many months ago, who will not be named though I will mention that he is a moderator who kicked Smarties off of his board...Sama and I did manage to get back at him. Hence why I don't consider this behavior illegal.

Your sentry isn't even close to being on par with my spy. Having #2 Sentry doesn't mean much when the #1 & #2 spy is still more than twice as powerfull as all of the sentries on the board. The !@#$%^&*umption you have made in this round is that I would keep my spy and sentry even...I haven't. Hence why I could beat Falcoknight in covert. As you pointed out, Sharks have -15 Sentry, but +30 covert. Knowing Falco had +30 in both, I focused on covert because he didn't have much of an advantage there. (He still had cloak, but I was able to overcome that.) Hence, the sentries on the board are not nearly as powerfull as the coverts, hence why I can sab everyone.
  18. Well, it is partially my fault, because if I cared I would have merged all of these topics into one, but I don't. They really are seperate ideas - the problem is that JDS isn't creative enough to name the topic after the subject. I've given all the threads new !@#$%^&*les.
  19. Well, I was considering what would be best to treat the disease, not what's best for academic advancement. I'm just saying that whatever you have, staying at home and doing nothing all day is going to make it worse. Still, we don't know your schedule or your lifestyle, so this line of thought is improper.
  20. First off, use commas please. It's hard to understand your sentences. Based on your statements you sound schizophrenic...but...your goal is to goad an answer, so you've probably included all your "pro-schizo" information but left out most of your manic depressive qualities. As for misdiagnosis, you don't have a case. First of all, mental health diseases don't fit into cookie-cutter catagories. Secondly, the entire field is subjective anyway. "Bipolar Disorder" and "Schizophrenia" are only groups which patients are put into...treatment is done on a one by one basis. For example, if both of us looked at a sign, and I say it's yellow, and you say it's orange, that doesn't necessarily mean one of us are color blind. If you think your drugs are causing hallucinations, tell your doctor. He might have a different medication he could try. Edit: As for Wild Luck's suggestion of backing out of school...whatever you do, don't do that. Keeping your mind occupied on other things and interacting with people will lower the frequency of the halluncinations if they aren't drug induced.
  21. I certainly would, as then it would be possible to put massing in the game. As for how difficult, I would need to figure out if the first day bug on the attack page means the core absolutely won't tolerate editing, or if I messed something up when I tried. If it is the former, then it is impossible. If it is the latter, it would be a simple matter of editing one line of code. This is all possibly academic though. Polix wants a new game next round, and if there is going to be a new game it will be on the Army Core's latest version, for which detailed specs haven't been provided, so there is a small chance that it would have already solved this or any other problem. Currently, most of my work is limited by a gawd-awfull 56k modem which operates on the house's one and only telephone line. (My internet is Oldskool) Within a week I should have access to something much better. Once that happens, I might be able to spend more time on possible edits. Granted I'll probably be using the internet for real work, but still.

Yeah, now that I think about it I think I did change it...it was part of my efforts to slow things down a little by getting the defensive players off the offense. Still 15% isn't that much. You can't compete because you have to invest in offense, and Falco can't compete because he doesn't have the units.

Didn't you have #1 attack with a Warbird last round?
  24. Hmmm...I forgot about that thing. Actually, I think I'll try to get the real clan page working again. I may not of mentioned it, but there was an attempt made at the beginning of the round, but it had turned into another bug...maybe if I try it now it won't be messed up though.

Any particular reason why you invested so much in Sentry last night, JDS?
