um, inductive is the strongest type of reasoning, while deductive reasoning can run the risk of being a rationalization fallicy.

I don't know the whole formula. There are two checks. I only know the first one. The best solution to the part I know though is "only send one spy every time". That way you have a 91% of passing it. The first check doesn't take spy or sentry into account. The second check seems to involve spy, sentry, and the weapons gone after. I don't know the details to that check, but at the moment it seems that you need to limit yourself to 2000 weapons, more or less depending upon the person (though that's with my uber spy). However, getting past the second check is mostly trial and error based upon memory of previous sabotage attempts. Send one spy and go after 2000 weapons. If you get caught, don't go after as many weapons next time. If you are having 90% success, you can probably go after more weapons next time. I myself have been sabbing Astro for the past 3 months, and it did admittingly take a month before it started working.
  4. The game is too small, so people here generally don't follow that piece of ediquitte. The Gods do sometimes, but definitely not the 1337 soldiers.

You know, if you aren't doing anything Falco, you could crawl out of that hole and help with the graphics. I'll admit some of the stuff is gonna need one of the Photoshop masters, but I was able to do the stuff I did so far with only Paint.
  6. I agree. Especially the asteroids score. I could score that high easy. The problem is that it would take two hours. He did it in 90 seconds. Deleting scores.

I've put some sleep on the graphics problem, and I've come up with a solution. There will be two items added which won't be in the store: The Lesser Ring of People Who Helped Ail Make the Graphics The Greater Ring of People Who Helped Ail Make the Graphics. The first will give atleast +10 all, and the second will give +30 all, probably more depending on how the rest of the settings comes together, or variable depending upon the type of help I get. If its not obvious, those two items will be reward items to people who contribute graphics. PM me if you are interested and I'll tell you what graphics I need.
  8. Well, on major MMORPGs, people usually use money to buy and sell stats. But, yeah, I apologize for that. I've been trying to slow the game down for the past three rounds, but I haven't succeeded yet.

The pet isn't staying. Neither are the bots. The pet will be replaced with two or three much less powerfull pets. The bots will also be overhauled and renamed to something closer to the theme, which is: "In the year 2145, Seven years after the Warbird-Javelin 68 3/4 Years War, the galaxy was slowly recovering. The once mighty SVS Imperium was reduced to a fragmented group of bickering colonies. Star roads were being rebuilt, and virtually every colony in the cosmos had dead to mourn and lives to rebuild. However, peace would evade the galaxy. A group of non-respected nooblet pilots, calling themselves the "Trench Wars" colonies, was ready to pounce. They claimed that they intended to take over the galaxy under command of a man they called "Emperor Prittk". Initially, the veteran pilots of the various zones mocked the upstarts and their ambitious goals. However, by 2150 any voice of mockery fell silent. The TW Empire spread like a plague accrossed the galaxy, consuming their neighbors and making all either bow before their Emperor or atleast fear his name. The other zones tried to fight back, but one by one they kept falling to TW's unstoppable juggernaut. In desperation, the Resistance was formed in the heart of The EG Federation. Previous attempts at ship to ship combat had failed due to TW's seemingly limitless supply of ships and pilots to fly them. The Resistance had a new strategy: to infiltrate the enemy colonies, and use footsoldiers to disable TW's supply installations as well as to unite all of the free zones into a fighting force. Their mission will not be easy, as entire legions stand against them. All of the galaxy's hopes rest with a small band of brave adventurers..." I mentioned that because it will explain the bots: TW Grunts, Twers, and Twops. Graphics will be done when I get to them. I've been overhauling the classes, weapons, and armor for the past couple days.
  10. I will say one thing right now: The SS RPG will definitely continue next round. We may have a new RPG, but that's under development, and not very multiplayer, so it might not catch on. Changes: Next round will be two months...three months seems too long, one month is too short. points may or may not be renamed to fix the incompatibility with V RPG. I'll give serious thought to removing negative merc income. Serious thought will also be given to removing the oldskool ships (by that I mean, not adding them, but...). Serious thought will be given to putting transfer back in. (If people are just going to sell off a defense when they quit, transfer can only do so much damage.) and the big one... I'll see if I can get Polix to install the newest version. After much complaining, us admins have gotten the programmer to outline the new features on the secret forum which shall not be named. The big one: 'mission turns'. They are like turns, but apply to recon and sabotage. I'm thinking that 'mission turns' will be applied to sabotage, but not recon. Sab will then be buffed. This will make sabotage something painfull you do to people who tick you off, rather than a steady drain you do every day. Another one: a turn cap, which will also be used.
  11. To slicer: You bought too many mercs. Mercs have -150 income. If you buy too many, your income becomes negative. To get rid of it, get your merc population lower than your regular population. You can get rid of mercs by getting in fights, and due to another bug (I like to think of it as an anti-bug), you can get rid of a big debt by repairing your weapons. As for the topic, I'm tired of talking about it ten times over. Closed.
  12. Um, I think you are reading something between the lines which isn't there. That was merely a series of factual statements, and your hit was important to mention because it was the biggest hit of the day. I didn't mean to imply anything; I was just stating the facts.

Bull...I always take score before I buy stuff, or atleast take that fact into account when I do. Its usually around the same time too, its usually early afternoon. A couple of hours in the evening hardly qualifies as "all day". Yes, a couple times I've woken up to #2 spy. Then I spend my money and gain #1 spy again. After that point I leave and do something else for about 6 hours, and then will take tallies in the afternoon. I'd advise you to try to take #1 during the day, but you can't. All you can do is get a tenuous grasp of it for about 2-3 hours and then lose it again. Besides, you got the tallies for it last Sunday, nevermind the fact that taking it back involved me simply spending the points I had out and retaking the prize within five minutes. You didn't deserve the tallies, but you got them anyway because I figured you'd turn around and pull this whine. Long story short, you are a !@#$%^&* liar.
  14. I would have held top Spy - even from you. The Shark and the Spider both have 30% Spy bonuses. The only advantage the Spider has is the Cloak, which is equally powerfull but cheaper than Stealth. However, the Decoy is as proportionally just as cheap as the Cloak, though it requires 2 spies instead of 1. Now, enter the fact that I trained all my soldiers as spies and had 50,000+ of them, making the limitation of number of spies not a factor. Thus, I robbed you of your only advantage in the spy department...all it took from that point would have been superior income from not being hit. BTW, now I'll still hold that rating for the opposite reason - now number of spies is going to be the primary factor. Even though O.S. can build covert tools cheap as dirt, you guys aren't going to have enough spies to compete with me until the very end. I wish our clan played for fun. See, the way our clan works is that Dav has us all chained up on a trirem in the Mediterranian, and we get whipped when we either stop rowing, lose tallies, or lose points. Well, better get back to rowing...

After further investigation, I've found some things out: Currently the character's don't have sprites. However, supposing when the sprites are completed, I've found out that unlike Final Fantasy, or anything normal for that matter, sprites are not incorporated into the scene. Instead, you have a scene with an animated .gif which shows up only while the player is attacking or spellcasting. Furthermore, the .gif will appear above the scene, and it looks like the character is flying through the air. Also, I've found out details about the world map. I can select certain squares to be "battle" scenes and random battles in enabled, but the battle squares are optional for the player with scene selectable, and the random battles will randomly choose the scene. Thus, if the map says you are standing on a mountain, I couldn't make a "mountain" scene be mandatory for that area. Players could choose whatever they want, and the computer would choose whatever scene it felt like as well. Thus, I'll probably remove the scenes entirely, and put the prettyness in the world map. As for the map, I've started construction of one. You should see a part of an EG-themed base. However, the one I made was oversized and only half will show up. I'll have to replace it with a smaller one. I also thought that on the character marker that white was transparent, but I was wrong about that. The "meat" of the map is still the defaults, so wander around if you want but don't do it too much. The shop, medic, and portal won't work where they are indicated, you will be able to walk through the ships, there will be a battle arena that shouldn't be there, and MOST IMPORTANTLY if you wander into the default and unmarked portal locations, you'll be transported to a map which doesn't exist and your character will be lost on that map forever.

I've downloaded all of the default images to my hard drive. None of the items have a Subspace theme and most aren't origional, so they won't be used. However, the default and functional life/mp bars have been uploaded. Included with the download were some "world map" files. That missing link turns out to be a very important part of this game, because it actually is more than a picture-it contains everything needed to make dungeons and quests - I think.

Yeah, I noticed that when I put it in, but don't think I can fix that. Look, its clear the game isn't finished and we're just making you guys Beta test...does anyone want me to take it down until its finished?
  20. Aileron

Don't ask me these kinds of questions. The game is described as Beta, and I think that's an exaggeration. It's not working because its not working.

    VRPG

It's a Subspace themed RPG...I've added an example in the form of a new scene. I've deleted the other scenes, because they don't work. The new one also sucks. Its too wide, and my art ability is terrible. Among the black sands of the Desert of Metal, lies Sigma Outpost, a small spaceport which services trade ships traveling from the TW to EG systems. While the installation is highly functional, the view leaves something to be desired. Just red sky and black sand for as far as the eye can see. However, on a night where the weather is clear and free of sandstorms, you might get a glimpse of the infamous "Red" and "Blue" bases several miles away over the north wall, where two local unnamed factions have been fighting a vicious blood-fued for generations. When either of the participants are asked why they are fighting, their only response involves a machine called the "Metal Gear", but no details beyond that are known to outsiders. Space-faring travellers are advised to stear clear of these groups, lest they become drawn in to the fighting. Now it should be obvious from the image that I incorporated several aspects of Metal Gear's graphics into the image...but that wouldn't be stealing because the intent of the image is to portray something that represents than particular zone. Without those elements, the image just wouldn't be a proper portrayal.

Tried to change the money to one of the other options, but all of them crashed. I'm not stealing gfx from another game. End of story. Subspace gfx will be used though.

True, but this step was mostly about geting any images at all on the screen. The next matter however is finding out why I can't upload any more. Then, it'll be replacing the blank images that should be there but aren't, such as the HP bar, and the "no item" image. After that, more Subspace-specific items will be added, though by that time I'm hoping I have one or two artists so I can focus on the settings and gameplay.
  24. Just to let you people know, there is a slight bug with the SS RPG. It seems points are an int variable, and due to a common computational quirck cap out at around 2.7 trillion. A player ran into this problem this morning, and has be refunded the lost funds. So, watch what you do when making very large transactions.

First off, there's no option for class skills. The only things that can be restricted by class are equipable items and spells, and there isn't even an option for "skills" in this game. Now, I could make class-specific spells, and furthermore p!@#$%^&* off class skills as "spells". However, the only thing I can make a spell do is cause HP damage. Considering that every spell requires its own .gif file, I'd rather not make class specific spells as that would involve loading up the server with a bunch of different spells that all do pretty much the same thing. I will admit that the lack of skills would almost entirely defeat the point of the Thief tree. I just wanted an excuse to put pirates and ninjas in the game. I think "peasant" would be too general. Players will want to start off with atleast something to work with. There are only three rewards I can put for a new class: access to items access to spells one-time stats bonuses There will probably be swords restricted to Knight+ and guns restricted to Merc+. I really shouldn't have put numbers there for levels...I haven't even thought about stats yet, so I don't know if max level will be 20, 40, or 100, or frankly what those numbers will end up being, so I just wrote numbers down. The end result will be spaced out enough. In something more along the lines of the present, I'm starting to add some graphics to the game. So far, 5 swords and 5 belts have been added, which are in the shop. My intention here wasn't for balance but just to start adding something. Check it out if you want to laugh at my terrible artistic ability, or atleast at Superman's Shorts.
