Maka sounds like the idealistic me (2 years ago) (btw...full charge greens occur in almost every zone) I gots me plugin on the day of yester, so we'll see what happens as far as pub ideas go.

Scorebot is what's known as "Perni es kewl"

That works if you have the astronauts sit in chairs strapped to said rotating chamber, and the speed is regulated. However, to accomplish that for a significant length of time a massive power source is going to be required, and I personally don't know if solar will be able to handle it (not a rocket scientist after all). Unfeasable for planetary colonization however. Just think of your mom's daily activities. How much of that can be done while strapped to a rotating chamber?
-
Let's not forget the logistical/physiological problems of a weightless enviroment on the astronauts themselves. Human skeletal structure and shape is based on the !@#$%^&*umption that you're going to have a constant gravatational force pulling down on you at all times, thus your bones have a certain strength/diameter/shape to them. In a weightless enviroment, even 100 days is enough to potentially cause serious complications due to shifts in your body's equlibrium (upon a return to earth), much less 4 years. This fact will lead to one truth if the moon or mars are ever colonized: There will develop another race of "humanity". Anyone who stays for a year or so will begin to change, and eventually evolution will make the Martians' bones thin and long as an advantage over smaller people (and as a direct result of less gravity), thus one way or another the "greys (aliens)" will be a reality. Picture a planet where Yao Ming's height/wingspan is the norm. A mission to mars will never occur until scientists can sucessfully replicate the earth's gravity in a spaceship and on the planet surface itself. Even then, the potential risk of something going wrong is far too high, not even taking into account the psychological factors of 'cabin fever'. Basically another Bush pie in the sky dream, like the eradication of steroids. Anyone notice how his SOTU was 99% "Vote for me cause I care?" Thank god a democrat is finally polling better then the shrub (Kerry, 49% to Bush's 46%)

Mad, jav can have ZERO bricks total. I think there's a limit on a few other ships also. Fun for some, not for all.

Warning someone who knows what they're doing is incorrect is like telling a bank robber "You get one heist free, but the cops will warn you, and if you do it again THEN we'll arrest you." Naturally the example can't be applied to anyone who hasn't been a staffer (except in odd cir-*BAD WORD*-stances). Foof was a mod [key here: an enforcer of the rules]. Thus most others WOULD get the warning, Foof did not, nor did he deserve one. Case Closed. The fact that this concept eludes you is forming my opinion of the quality of current Metal Gear sysops, and it's not a good one.

If starting bounties were to be made larger (say 200), wb's would more then likely spawn with 2 bricks. Not fun.

Now, let's assume for a minute "John Smith" says about Canada, "Canada is full of dip-*BAD WORD*-s". Would Canada itself care? No. But if Bush said, "Canada sucks, eh?" the PM and every Canadian would be pissed as -*BAD WORD*-. Why does this matter? Well, Sever himself said he's not staff, thus why does his opinion of how long a ban Foof should have count? A staffer of cabniet level (smod) or above should count more then a member of the public (We all know the banned -*BAD WORD*- about the length, no matter how long it was). In addition, a person's history counts for a lot too, which is why Cencil wasn't hired until a little while ago, why some people will NEVER be hired, and why people like foof get a week ban for "something so minor as being an -*BAD WORD*-". Let us not change the subject here, as many of you seem to be doing in a vain attempt to spin the truth. Foof abused ?help. Foof was a staffer, and thus knew what happened if someone did that. Mike was on, and we all know his tolerance for stupidity. Thus Foof got a week, whereas most people for the same offence would get max 3 days. Because he knew better. Now, some of you might be spinning, "Well, couldn't mike just ?ignore him?" Wrong. As it's clearly stated by Foof himself, he did ?Help mike sucks -*BAD WORD*-. Even if mike had him ignored (i'm sure he did), all staff get alert commands. That's the issue here. Or are you telling me it's allright if I go into MG and do ?Help Calli's a -*BAD WORD*-? Please tell me you aren't the dictionary definition of a idiot...
-
Shrap is like Multifire and Proxy, you don't start with it automatically, nor can you (stupid settings). your initial bounty is how many # of greens you get to begin with, thus you have a chance to get shrap, or not. It might or might not be unbalanced prizeweight, but i'd have to look very closely into that., as now we're getting into statistical analysis.

I don't know where to begin... First off, in a court of law (IANAL) Ricebowl is a character witness. Foof's actions as a staffer reflect upon who he is. For a sysop you sure seem to be lacking reading comprehension (which sort of undermines you saying, ah yes,) Nowhere in what Rice said did he indicate that he was banned, but thanks for popping in with your expert wisdom anyway. (PS: Take a good look at TW's rules and 17th's rules. You'll be pleasantly suprised.) Naturally, if Foof said "shut up" to Rice, he's said it to other people, and logically he and many other people have done ?help (I have seen many of these myself). A staffer is required to be professional, paticularly in his or her dealings with the general public. There's also an unwritten rule that i'm sure 99% of zones follow as we do: (Former) Staff who break the rules are treated more severely then others for breaking the same rules. This makes sense, being staff means you need to know what the rules are in the first place. Foof for example has broken Rule 6 AND 7 of the 10 commandments. Thus he deserves what he got. I don't know what compels people to type profane alert commands, do you honestly want others to believe you are 12? Or is the 'thug life' too much fun? Methinks many of you get abused at school, so you want to prove you're a big tough guy on a tiny online game. Seems like you've started us off with your own such decision. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now, to further eradicate stupidity: Crowley: Real Life: I am about halfway towards obtaining my Biomedical Engineering degree (specialized in Biomechanics). Thus, I have better things to do then to brownnose the large nosed one daily. Subspace: Starting as an (not ER>), I got to see a few stupid decisions, and all the people that were in power at any time since EO got sysop in the zone. There are 3 of us left (NBV and Telson are the others), not counting Mike. During my time as ER and most of my mod days I worked under the Staff Coordinator, which was EO. When he left and Lyta/Nurps took over, I worked under Lyta until my first resignation. When I returned, it was under Telson. Then, Enter hired me as his !@#$%^&*t. League Coordinator, so I worked for him. When he resigned, I became co-sysop and League Coordinator. Now in my current position I have, I have but one superior officer, Pernille, until such time as Mike decides he wants to be Head Sysop again. I like to think we work well together, and Mike is barely on for us to serve under him as deputies, no? He's the owner and can fire any of us if he wanted, but Pern has Head Sysop. As for Perni, she has a real life as well. However, the dedication she's shown and her love of this zone have made her the perfect leader for this zone; someone who's not egotistical, not whimsical, has a fine sense of diplomacy, and is quite intelligent to boot. Slandering her is the worst thing you could think of, she's not done anything to deserve it besides be one of the best staffers 17th has ever had. Another stupid accusation (Gore invented the internet?) thrown aside, Vile rests.

Urine is expelled at a pressure of 15-30 mmHg (higher [70mmHg] if one has prostate issues); the pressure upon one's bladder when they feel like they need to urinate is 100-110 mmHg.

As I said in my post, changing the jav would be suicide, it doesn't take a 2 year old monkey to notice that Option 2 would be best, just so long as it doesn't go overboard and this zone becomes SSCU 17th Parallel SVS, cause then I wouldn't play it anymore. And you certainly have the right to politely disagree with me or any staffer. However, it's not what I think, it's how much of what I think does Perni take to heart and actually try that is bad or good. But this pointless stuff about things we all know aren't true (like "mysterious jav changes") do need to end before there's too much of a rift to save the zone.

Yes, I want the zone to focus on multiship events, that's my ethos. A zone has 8 ships, all should be designed in one way or another to be useful in events (alternativly, the event should be designed for the 8 ships, either works). Perhaps not Rumble or SBL (certainly not javwarleague), but something. Allowing people who specialize in any of a zone's ships to participate makes everyone eligible to play in events, and leagues. Thus, more people become vets and the zone prospers. Look beyond the nose of your brown ship for a minute and think a bit. Two examples: DSBL, which has 600+ people in it and features all of their ships, and AML, IML, and Pro, the Premier Leagues, which are SVS (need I say more?) And about random damage...if you won't take the hint that nobody's ever modified the jav in this zone (doing so would be suicide), then I had to show you some other way. Everything's back to normal now, and it's all good. People who think i'm nuts for having this ethos are missing the bigger picture. Sure, the zone was built on the jav and rrl, but the current status of the zone is everybody's fault. The Vets have to take responsibility for going off on wild goose chases like this thread, accusing the staff of not playing (I get at least 2 category wins in pub every soccer match I play in thank you very much, and Veg is the consummate veteran) and me of somehow taking satisfaction in making "subtile little tweaks to the jav" and "singlehandidly ruining the zone", yet somehow being "power hungry" (newsflash: If I ruin the zone, there goes this power I 'care so much about.' Same goes for the other staffers you claim of being powerhungry. Tis the great irony, when you think you have power in this game, you wind up losing it, See Case Study #4015, Shadowripper.). You may not like my viewpoint, but as Joker said, we are all in this together, arguing solves nothing, paticularly such pointless crap as this and a few other threads. This zone lost it's way in not realizing that other people play besides the "vets". And some of those people happen to be vets as skillful as you themselves (Happy Spider and Venemous Blaze off the top of my head). Holding yourself to an idea that you are, pardon the term, 1337, are delusional. Sure, you can kick -*BAD WORD*- with these settings and the best dueling ship ever created, but is that skill enough to lord above everyone else like you're the only ones that matter? Sure, taking a newbie's opinion over a vet's is a pretty stupid idea, but there's plenty of people in this zone that can play every ship in this zone quite well. Should we ignore their opinions in favor of people who 99% of the time play jav? That would be equally as stupid as just listening to the newbies. Truth be told, as Maka said earlier, this zone is a very small skillset in the larger realm of Subspace. No squad in here could scratch AML, with the possible exception of Epion. If you need any proof of that, go watch a 4v4 practice in Chaos. THAT is how MSBL should be, a very highly compe!@#$%^&*ive match that is a combination of Javwar and SBL, with a good bot and knowledgable hosts firstly, but also using more then one ship to add to the tactics and overall league skill. Likewise, the staff is guilty of lacking a true focus ever since EO went down. That is why I hold him in the regard that I do, because he took the idea that the zone had, and made it so great we had 90+ every weekend, and a kick!@#$%^&* pub. Unfortunatly, that time is quite over. Many of the people that were there when it existed have either left the game or found some other zone. The settings have changed and the next generation has setteled into the zone. Nurples, Zeke, and Enter all tried to duplicate the success EO had, but failed. Sometimes the worst thing that can happen IS SUCCESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. The staff knew that the zone had been great and got very nervous when that success could not be achieved again, even with the oldsets/oldmap back in pub. This led to Zeke doing what he felt he had to do to stabilize the zone and begin his ethos, that 17th should turn into a speed zone (which as Cencil pointed out, is very much not 17th, and i'm sure everyone would have quit). However, bashing the man for saving the zone is just as fruitless, without him there would currently BE NO JAV OR LEAGUES at the present time. Things were so bad that at some times, Pern would be the only one in 17th besides the bots. Floundering Sucks. Then Nurples achieved a relative level of stability, but his job forces him to the sidelines, so Pern had to take the role. Say what you will about her, she's the only one who could have done it. Telson's not around as much as he would have to be, and I in a million years would never consider becoming the HSysop of this zone. I am very implusive, as i'm sure many of you know, and I would have wound up doing something pathetically stupid. She is quite capable of providing good ideas and leadership, and she's growing into the role quite nicely, I would certainly follow her to -*BAD WORD*- and back (in this game at least). Largest proof of this? The staff is no longer at a loss for what to do. We have a clear vision, and focus once again. I don't expect you to drop the skeptic routine immediatly, I wouldn't either with our track record. But if we work together to create something as magical as the good ol days were, then we can all find the zone that was lost so long ago, the true spirit of 17th Parallel. I have been, and will always try my hardest to make this happen, i've seen too many alleged downfalls and recoveries to let the place fall apart now, and i'm sure everyone's with me on that, otherwise you wouldn't even bother posting. To a New Year and a New Beginning for 17th, that is what I toast to tomorrow. I hope you join me in doing so. (oh, and just so nobody goes off on any more wild tangents, this does NOT mean the zone settings and map are suddenly going to change for the new year, nor will they for quite a while)

Whoever thinks I direct pub wherever it's going in the future is a complete idiot. As far as that 2 safe map goes, I would like to see it up as well. Only problem with that is Lovewar is on vacation, and he has the only copy. If anyone DOES have a copy, forwarding it to Pern could (empathesis on could) expidite things on that front.

Ya, the political banter was good fun

We can do better then mariokart, there's a better nintendo racing game to rip off I need to run the idea through lw first, it needs plenty of gfx.

*ignoring manus and the other dude with guns, worries about the presence of multiple chaos gates in one location* (whew, i'm lucky I have the sword on me, and not any of these -*BAD WORD*-s.) *Waves -*BAD WORD*-o to the Flo* *Drinks her brandy* *spits it out* OH -*BAD WORD*-, YU-GI-OH, HERE! Do you realize the implications of playing THAT, HERE? THERE ARE 10 CHAOS GATES IN THIS BAR! YOU'RE GOING TO OPEN UP A TEMPORAL RIFT IN SUBSPACE! *worries* Another brandy please?

*In one swift motion, stabs the magic pinapple, extends her arm to the right (thus bringing the pinapple with her arm and the sword), then flings everything forward, making the pinapple with the hermaphrodite go careening into the ship hangar, where the pinapple splatters all over the cloaked weasel, which promptly becomes uncloaked thanks to pinapple juice* *turns back towards the bar, muttering to herself something that sounds much like "moron"*

(Out of the strange time vortex that Deus found comes a human female. Her clothes would date her to somewhere in the Middle Ages, because they are a set of armour. A Light blue set of armour to be exact. Tis obviously full plate, that opens at the waist where brown pants flow down into a sky blue set of heeled boots. In one of her two gauntlets is held a disturbingly beautiful sword. Her face is spot on beautiful. Blond hair, blue eyes, oval facial structure.) *Looks around at the holodeck then sighs looking at the sword in dismay* -*BAD WORD*-, got the years mixed up on this thing, I wanted 1218, not 2812...Ah well, best see what's up. *goes over to the bar* Ahoy barkeep, do you people still have a nice stiff brandy in this day and age? And what are those contraptions over there? *points at the weasel, yes, the WEASEL, yes, I know it's cloaked* OOC: Had to make use of the portal somehow I had my friend draw up this exact design.

Tis not EG mike, that's Plantain $$$ And it's been in 17th

I must be doing a good job if you forgot all about little ol me ^_^ Oh, and Pern is now HSysop in case you were wondering Joker. Squad pride has nothing to do with what she does as staff, we're all unbiased about that stuff. Not only that, but in the latest league it's impossible for bias to enter into the gameplay at all

Are there any good squads left in the 17th?
Vile Requiem replied to KaBouTeR PLoP's topic in 17th Parallel
Literally destroyed in publeague SMG did to Epion. Brutal Even. (5-0, 15 minutes) So ya... -
JWL turned out to be more like the others then everyone thought. Thus it became the norm.
