  2. Idea of members of community committing to a monthly donation With a daily budget of $3.50, approximately $98 per month would be used. Sometimes actual daily costs are a few cents over, or even nowhere near the daily budget (lately we have been getting between $1.00 to $1.50 in usage even though the daily budget is set to $3.50). 3. What..? ?_? And I get: But this isn't anyone's fault but mine for not having proper video acceleration hardware. (Onboard Intel.)
  4. OpenGL can handle 2D graphics in 3D, why wouldn't it? The only potential drawback to rendering 2D within a 3D engine is that if your machine has a terrible video card or accelerator, framerate is likely to be worse than if it were rendered in 2D natively...or at least in extreme scenarios or something. Donno, my thoughts. Any of the programmers here have any thoughts? ?_? EDIT: That or I have a huge misconception about how renderers such as OpenGL and Direct3D work.
  5. Isn't Discretion rendered via OpenGL? If it were rendered as 3D rather than 2D, zooming in and out would be absolutely painless (just change Z-distance). What are the pros and cons of rendering a 2D game as 3D instead of 2D?
  6. We have been getting RECENT DOWNLOADS of Continuum040Setup.exe from the following: This thread: http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/showthread.php?t=312750&highlight=continuum "Continuum" is found on these three webpages: http://play-free-online-games.com/ http://play-free-online-games.com/games/games_all_7.html http://play-free-online-games.com/games/subspacecontinuum.html In this article: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2340700,00.asp This website (search for Continuum): http://www.gameogre.com/reviewdirectory/?page=search Getting some from gamespot.com somewhere (if someone could find the download link that points to getcontinuum.com, that would be great!): http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/subspace/players.html?tag=scoresummary;user-score Also at: http://www.net-free.it/download/file/viewfile.php?idfile=1539 Ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=339455&highlight=Continuum http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8574718&highlight=Continuum#post8574718 (3 weeks old) Others are coming from Google, Wikipedia, directly (no referrer -- spiders and bots?), Extreme Games website, AOL, SVSZone.com (and stats.svszone.com), Yahoo, YouTube, Search, Reddit (there are some posts about which article this is somewhere on these forums).. 7. Screenshots and pictures please. By the way, to see the entire map you have to have a resolution of at least 16384x16384 or greater. (This is just quick FYI.) That is at least 16 monitors with a y-dimension of 1080, and 9 monitors with an x dimension of 1920. So that makes... (17280) x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x (17280) You would need 144 monitors supporting a resolution of 1920x1080 to see the entire map. Problem with that though is that the most you could hookup with a quad-crossfire setup is about 12 monitors in a 4x3 or 3x4 setup. Which means each monitor would have to support at least 4096x5462 for a resolution.
  8. Has anyone tried it with three monitors? =D I would love to see some screenshots and photos of someone playing Continuum at 3200x1080 or something.
  9. Just use original graphics. And I do not think the AI bots would work out very well. They are not compatible with doors, extra tiles, or wormholes. And, depending on the number of bot spawns being hosted, would use an extraordinary amount of bandwidth and resources compared to a regular player. (Assuming Bjorn's AI would be elected for usage.) I have a registered copy of Fraps and a high-end machine I could use for recording raw footage (note: I would disable chat, radar, GUI and messages, and use a high resolution). Then I could send the raw footage to whoever as 100mb RAR parts on DVDs to whomever. PS. Find multiple people to do recording of footage. EDIT: I also propose, whoever be setting up the zone, cap the maximum players in the entire zone to 250 and set the arena maximum to 250, and disable subarenas (ArenaMode=0). All-the-high-pop.-zones event. EDIT2: When would this all occur? I would prefer this at least be on a Friday, and definitely not around finals time.
  10. You need to update your subgame2 to a patched version at http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=24254
  11. I support this idea. It has happened before already though. Remember when Continuum v0.37/38 was released and the Subgame2 updates haven't been distributed yet? There was only one [temporary] zone with support for the new v0.37/38, and that zone was loaded with 600 to 900 players. Each arena at least had 100 active players in it. The entire map literally had players EVERYWHERE! It is one of my best and most favorite memories ... there wasn't any lag either and it was fully playable as I remember. =D EDIT: Just FYI, Subgame2 supports a maximum of 250 players per arena (public and private) and 1024 players for the entire zone. This can be done straight out of the box on default configurations. However, you would definitely need to get a server with the bandwidth for such job, and may have to make some minor latency optimizations in server.ini and server.cfg. I would recommend disabling flags, powerball, ... If you want to accomplish this on ASSS, ASSS needs to be thoroughly tested for its capabilities. I could not get ASSS up to a 500 player count very easily on just plain MERVBot in spectator mode w/o plugins -- unloading modules was definitely necessary. My Subgame2 tests include being connected to a billing server, whereas my ASSS tests did not and are also incomplete in testing.
  12. Ok, as of late I have been annoyed about how a number of people (at least in my immediate environment) think Snrrrub's directory server -- or ds1.hlrse.net or ds1.krslynx.com -- is at fault for the 100-player glitch. I have personally investigated this issue at least twice, both investigation done thoroughly. One thing that can easily confuse people is the fact that Snrrrub's directory server has a leeching function that will download a list from specified known directory servers, filter out duplicates, and add to its own list. Here is what I have done in my investigations (and this was all before launching ds1.krslynx.com): 1. Turn off the leeching feature in ds1.hlrse.net 2. Individually check ds1.hlrse.net, ssdir.playsubspace.com, and Priit's directory server ds1.hlrse.net would only result with a list of about 5 to 7 zones -- populations look normal Priit's directory server would result with all of SSC and perhaps some PSS/SSA zones -- populations look normal ssdir.playsubspace.net would have a list larger than Priit's and ds1.hlrse.net's -- populations for some zones are glitched to 100 Ok? Now stop thinking Snrrrub's directory server has anything to do with the 100-player glitch. The source of this glitch/bug is or was at ssdir.playsubspace.com. doc_flabby has probably fixed this by now. Purpose of this thread: to make people quit thinking that Snrrrub's directory server has anything to do with that bug. His directory server has been flawless except on Windows at gamepanel.visfx.net and my laptop (it works fine on my other Windows machines). @doc_flabby Forgive me for venting.
  13. With MERVBot you can set the range. To do this, just set the desired resolution in mervbot.ini. When you have the bot stationed where you want it to be, it will only shoot at enemy players that are within its resolution. 1. Possible to station a MERVBot spawn at specific coordinate? Yes - use *warpto 2. Possible to make that MERVBot spawn shoot at enemy players? Yes - does this by default 3. Possible to set range at which it would begin shooting enemy players? Yes - set resolution in mervbot.ini 4. Would the MERVBot spawn open fire when enemy players are within range of its stationary position? Yes - 1 through 3 combined into one question Hakaku, I do not see where this is impossible. EDIT: Might be important to note that this "range" is not circular. Resolutions are square. To determine the "radius" for the x-axis, take the number you set for this axis divided by 2 and that is how far from the ship/bot to the left or right in pixels the bot can see. If you want the bot to see 32 tiles to its right: * Each tile is 16 pixels * 32 tiles * 2 because the ship is in the center of the screen = 1024 for x-axis dimension for resolution If you want it to see with a radius of 32 tiles, then you would use 1024x1024. Though because it is square and not circular, the radius will only be 32 tiles vertically and horizontally. The corners will be slightly larger than a radius of 32-tiles.
  14. That error indicates that it cant find "bash" shell try changing the first line to instead: #!/bin/sh Same error. I did cd /bin/, then dir. Both sh and bash are there. I've found our what's causing the error. You need to save the file in UNIX format to remove the the Windows Line endings. More info: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/redhat-fedora-linux-help/65469-bad-interpreter-no-such-file-directory.html the command: dos2unix should do this for you Oh heh. I use Notepad++, and it has a function to convert to Windows, Mac, and UNIX. Let me try your script here. EDIT: doc_flabby's script works. Now trying TestTube's. bluetds2@krslynx:~$ bash 4990_dirserver.tt 4990_dirserver.tt: line 33: [: -gt: unary operator expected -- Snrrrub's Directory Server 1.0 started -- Press CTRL+C to exit. Shutting down the directory server. # Begin WRITE_LOG_HEADER function # End WRITE_LOG_HEADER function # Begin WRITE_LOG_FOOTER function # End WRITE_LOG_FOOTER function # Begin SEND_LOG function # End SEND_LOG function (Did CTRL+C to shut it down.) Though due to that -gt error, the script might not actually function correctly. I am not sure if it was supposed to allow me to completely shutdown when I did CTRL+C, or restart the program or something. Or perhaps this script is mean to be done as Cron -- it would first check to see if said process is running, and if so, terminate self (otherwise it would launch dirserver). 16. Since the last 24 hours. EDIT: And I count unique visitors/hits/page views only. (So more than likely, if you downloaded the game within the last 24 hours, you are only 1 of the 2 UK downloads.)
  17. Donation from Xog of $30 received on 1/21/2010. Yesterday I also went through the advertisement settings and set it so that it would only advertise for English users, and within major countries only. I also increased bid percents by up to 15% for certain kinds of clicks. EDIT: And as of right now (time of posting), Analytics shows that /GameDownloaded has been hit 29 times (aka 29 clicks on Continuum040Setup.exe download button). 27 out of 29 are unique, and average "page time" is 2:38 minutes (sounds to me like they waited for it to finish downloading!). 15 of those 29 people spent an average of 5:24 minutes downloading it -- these people came through Google. 5 of the 29 people already knew the address getcontinuum.com somehow and spent an average time of 1:16 minutes supposedly downloading Continuum040Setup.exe. I think at least 3 of the 29 came from the advertisements. The rest simply Googled it (plus any exception already noted). 3 of the 29 were returning visitors. 22 of 29 were from North America, the rest from Europe; 3 from Northern Europe, 1 from Southern Europe, and 1 from Western Europe. 19 of 29 came from the United States; 3 from Canada, 2 from UK, 1 from Estonia, 1 from Netherlands, and 1 from Spain. 4 from Florida, 2 from England, 2 from Tennessee, 3 from Texas, 2 from Alberta, 2 from Massachusetts, 1 from unknown, 1 from Washington DC, 1 from Indiana, 1 from Maine, 1 from New York, 1 from North Carolina, 1 from Ontario, 1 from Oregon, 1 from Pennsylvania, 1 from Valencia, 1 from Wisconsin, and 1 from Zuid-Holland. 25 cities to list, so I won't specify them. Get Analytics access instead. 14 were using Firefox, 10 were using Internet Explorer, and 3 were using Chrome. 17 have Cable, 6 have DSL, 2 have T1, 2 have Unknown. Roughly 19 different ISPs to list, so I won't list them. Ask for Analytics access instead. Source: Click on /GameDownloaded on front page and use the drop down field to the right of "/GameDownloaded" drop down field to find these statistics. (For those that have Analytics access.)
  18. Come on guys, this isn't helping me in my research.
  19. No. That is also very gross. I do not know what exactly I was thinking at the time, but it definitely wasn't something gross, sexual, lustful, ... I think it is just the name itself "Audrey"/"Audry", or perhaps partly to do that weird Internet stereotype about female names grabbing the attention of males (I don't know). I don't even know who the person behind Audry looks like (quite frankly I don't want to know either). And when I see that name...the first thing that pops into my mind is the beginning of Anchorman when Ron Burgandy mentions the name or some other part of the movie when he mentions the name. X_x EDIT: Xog, you should get a different avatar. I keep almost thinking that Dr Brain wrote that post (fortunately he is not the author of your sick post).

  21. Cool -- you actually saw one of the Google AdWord advertisements?
  22. That does not answer the question. I want to know what attracted YOU to this game when you first saw it; what caught your attention and interest to join the bandwagon? I would especially like to hear from newer players.
  23. Is it going to have Subspace graphics? Same starfield? Warbird as player ship, Javelin through Shark as enemies, Nightwasp/turret ship as boss? Same icon's on left and right side of screen for inventory? *realizes this post is irrelevant to requested help*
