Those are stats files, rootbear. If you want to utilize them -- like http://ds1.krslynx:4989 or http://ds1.hlrse.net:4989 -- for generating graphs like Maverick's old site, then feel free to code something up.

Why not hire Sharvil for this job? Isometry already does a lot of these things.. Look at this command list for Isometry: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d67vd23_3775b98kcr EDIT: Or is this even possible?
-
I was just upgrading some software on my server, ds1.krslynx.com should be online (should have only been offline for perhaps 1, maybe 2 minutes. Hehe I booted it up. EDIT: I hope it isn't running twice. D=

Does anyone happen to know what Snrrrub's directory server runs through (TCP or UDP)?
-
As of right now, only ds1.hlrse.net is online. ds2.hlrse.net (ds1.krslynx.com) is being relocated to another server (says L Y N X). What is up with ssdir.playsubspace.com? subspaceonline.com should host a Linux binary of Snrrrub's directory server.

I was considering SSCB, but to be honest -- that just looks straight out ugly. The names that I attached to the network initials in the poll are what I was reminded of by the changing letter. So V reminded me of Virgin (for whatever reason), and R (being right after C) reminded me of Cre>, and Q as Qwerty because it is another alias of mine.. Aquarius thought of that as "SS Seek-You" though. I can use both (not simultaneously) an appended (SSC) or a network title. Originally I was wanting to use BlueTC (BlueT Centralized), but I was advised to stick with the traditions. To me it is the "ring" that really matters. Thus it does not actually matter what the V stands for. ;o

I realized something. I do not think Analytics is categorizing the clicks from the AdWords correctly, because we definitely got more than 19 unique from the getcontinuum.com advertising. This invalidates the negatives I used on the last half of my previous post (the reasoning attached to the three images).
-
I don't know if this is already in there, but proper use of GroupID's or group-level powers. Group-levels apply to individual networks, not the entire SSC. Though I bet this is already in there. :X

Hmm? EDIT: Removed SSCS from poll for looking ugly.

You are right, they don't. There are so many uncontrolled variables involved that I do not think graphs (at least those in particular) make a difference. To be able to add even a little meaning, it would be better for full-blown detailed monitoring of zone populations for all SSC zones combined and each SSC zone independently. Plus you also have to factor in the exact date major changes in the AdWords campaign apply (changes come into effect 24 hours after they have been made), holidays, and seasonal breaks. In addition, years of monitoring would be required to look for patterns in order to filter out changes in population as result from irrelevant factors (holidays, seasonal breaks, etc). All in all though, it would just boil down to a rough estimate (yay or nay middle-ground). The money is already tracked? I keep a log of it at http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/SSGoogleAdWords_Ad2.xlsx so that (1) my bank account does not get plundered into overdraft fees and debt, (2) credibility in the sense that I am not hiding anything from the community. I am also willing to give anybody statistics and reports access to the AdWords account (further reinforces #2), as well as to the Analytics account (has profiles for getcontinuum.com, ssforum.net, and subspaceonline.com). Over time I have also revealed in the main AdWords thread and another thread where we have been getting traffic from (including clicks onto the Download button for Continuum040Setup.exe). I have already posted statistics -- and for anyone who has Analytics access, then can go and personally see for themselves. If you want Analytics access, just message me your e-mail address or donate (I automatically invite all donors). http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/Content Detail- - Google Analytics_1264996404285.png As you can see, the average time there is good. It means there is a chunk of visitors who are sitting through the download. Whether they install the game after download is beyond me. In my opinion, I would say an average time of at least a minute is sufficient for a "success hit point" (or brownie point). Ultimately, it would be more useful if Analytics could provide individual-visitor statistics (which unfortunately they do not, probably for good ethics and security reasons) so that we can see exactly who and how many visitors spent at least a minute downloading Continuum040Setup.exe. EDIT: I came across this though. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/Content Detail- - Google Analytics_1264996479433.png Personally, I don't think the advertisements are working. At least based on the above image; it means that 18 people who are coming from the advertisements have an average time of 18 seconds. Otherwise I would be leaning in-between "Yes" and "Maybe." I propose an experiment: let the advertisements run until Sunday this coming weekend. Then pause the entire advertising campaign for at least 1 week. Then we can compare the statistics to see if it makes a difference. EDIT2: Also, there is a view for keywords. I consider anything along the lines of "subspace" and "continuum" to be the same as "(direct)" traffic. http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/Content Detail- - Google Analytics_1264997356792.png Based on this, I would say around 50% of the download clicks are not genuine (or at least the possibility). Just think about it and do the math. Apologies if I have just brought darkness upon one's bright atmosphere, but I think this is the reality of it. The grass isn't always greener on the other side kids.

Features suggestions for SSC biller? Who is doing the coding?

I think one small but important thing to do is to have somewhere on getcontinuum.com one of those "Follow us at" things with hyperlinked icons to mediums like Facebook, MySpace, Steam Community, etcetera. Here is what I have so far: Follow us at http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/ssgc_steamcommunity.gif Steam Community http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/ssgc_facebook.gif Facebook http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/ssgc_myspace.gif MySpace http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/ssgc_twitter.gif Twitter Do we even have a Twitter?

Bump. More submissions please.

Because of adding a few sets of image advertisements, our CTR has doubled reaching 0.51% and our daily budget maxing out at $4.20/3.50. Three advertisements stick out in particular (numbers 10, 18, 19) with CTRs of 1.72%, 1.27%, and 4.60% respectively. Number 19 (the highest CTR) has two keywords that too-low of a bid to make it to front-page (for whatever website); minimum bid for one keyword is $0.80 and the other is like $2.37. All advertisements have keyword bids of $0.25.

Latest DirectX solved my problem. Cool!

Idea #1: Perhaps you can have the SWF start out as a leviathan being chased into a box by two newbs, and at good timing warps back to his portal that is now behind the two newbs (who are now flying into the box) and smashes both of em with a few good L3 prox bombs in direct hits. This would be SVS themed, or whatever. That, or the same thing, except when the leviathan warps back to his portal, the viewer is given a choice of weaponry: bullets, bombs, burst, thor's hammer, etc. Viewer would select a weapon, it would quickly finish the animation, and then redirect to getcontinuum.com ... ? Idea #2: lol, or even perhaps the original intro in top-view 2D or something. Idea #3: Or what about that "Have you had your greens today?" one? EDIT: Meh, getting side-tracked and not coming up with good "action" ideas. EDIT2: By the way, 50KB is the limit... D:

Only SWF.

Just something I managed to do within the last hour or two. I plan on spending some time tomorrow to create more variations and different kinds. I want to use some cutouts from screenshots, some of the 3D images (have some ideas there), "it is possible" sets, and create a set using an imitation font to the Subspace title saying "Continuum" or "Get Continuum". EDIT: I have added Trained's submission and everything in this post to the Google AdWords campaign. =)

These are available for forum use (were not made by me) and do not conform to Google AdWords criteria: Random bar per page load: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg [img=http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg] Code to index.php in /randomsubsbar.jpg/: <?php $arr = array('subsbar.jpg', 'subsbar2.jpg', 'subsbar11.jpg', 'subsbar3.jpg', 'subsbar4.jpg', 'subsbar5.jpg', 'subsbar6.jpg', 'subsbar7.jpg', 'subsbar8.jpg', 'subsbar9.jpg', 'subsbar10.jpg'); $rnd_num = rand(0, count($arr)); $filename = $arr[$rnd_num]; header('Location: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/' . $filename); ?> Here is each bar: http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar2.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar3.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar4.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar5.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar6.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar7.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar8.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar9.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar10.jpg http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/randomsubsbar.jpg/subsbar11.jpg PS. Just made this post as an FYI despite its irrelevance.

Subspace logo files: * http://subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=1320 (128x128 PNG/ICOs only, by Strike) You can find some good images to use at http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace/. Some of the standard images: Cutout Transparent PNGs (for easier use and manipulation): Diwa's Warbird Render: Subspace II Renders: Nice poster-sized advertisement (unfortunately it does not fit the Google AdWords criteria due to its enormous size): http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/subspace/poster.jpg Also consider using some of the 2D graphics. I would recommend pulling graphics from http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=24112&view=findpost&p=258516&hl=&fromsearch=1 if you want to save yourself time from having to rename *.bm2 to *.bmp, and want to achieve the highest potential quality. Subspace FX uses mostly PNGs with GIFs, so you can readily open them in Photoshop and Paint without renaming anything. Submit your advertisement creations here via reply! (Make sure they meet the criteria specified so that they can actually be used for the good of this game and community.)

It is cheaper to run advertisements continuously (as I have found from AdWords) and I also have a hunch that after a certain point (in decreasing the daily budget) money begins to waste for literally nothing (no results/clicks/whatever).

I am willing to contribute $10 monthly.
