The purpose would be to open Subspace map editing into a new world of real-time collaboration and editing. I believe I have suggested this feature before, and that it would require complete recoding of DCME for anything to matter. But anyway: There would be a server and client version. Server version could function as a client too, and would also have a built-in command-line for those that do not want have the GUI/client-mode enabled on themselves and resource-reasons. Clients are much like the current DCME, except they would have the ability to connect to server-client versions. Data center would be sent over raw -- just to keep things simple. Tile data and location is what would be going in and out and through this little co-op network. Extensively (but more complicated) would be to have functions natively transmit their data instead of 100% raw tile data. That is, it might send circle(0,0,300,300,218,...) (x1 origin, y1 origin, x2 origin, y2 origin, tileid, etc) instead of each individual tile or a "map chunk" to the server/clients. EDIT: Also, client latency wouldn't necessarily matter, since nothing is necessarily time-critical. As many things possible should be made client-side if taking the "extensive" route. "Hacking" and "cheating" would be an utter waste of time, so protection schemes and stuff against this would also be a waste of time.

The map is basically a composition of pixels (pixel being a tile in this metaphor). This feature would have a list of different filters -- like in Photoshop and most image editing programs -- such as warp, twist, wind, etcetera. However, it would only consist of basic filters, as our "map" would technically be consisting of two colors (black and white) and wouldn't really be compatible with filters like Gaussian blur. You would be able to apply filters to either (1) entire map or (2) selection.

This feature can work inside and outside of the "seamless map editing mode" (whether or not you are in that mode does not matter). This feature is basically like selecting the entire map / CTRL+A on a picture in MSPaint, then going to "Image->Attributes" in MSPaint, etc. Here are some functions: Offset X - Offset the map on x-axis by x tiles or % (will loop the map like in seamless map editing mode) Offset Y - Offset the map on y-axis by x tiles or % (will loop the map like in seamless map editing mode) Flip Horizontally - Checkbox Flip Vertically - Checkbox Scale X - "Resize" or scale the map on the x-axis to a total width of x tiles or % Scale Y - "Resize" or scale the map on the y-axis to a total width of x tiles or % Rotate - 0 to 360 degrees (negative values accepted) from center of map (or selection) Live preview - Checkbox

What it would do is remove the borders and loop the map. If you went to the right side of the map, the map would start looping from the left side (radar would only show the red box to indicate area viewed split up -- would shown on left and right side). If you went to the bottom right corner of the map, you would see every corner of the map loop over. You would be able to scroll in either direction indefinitely. You would also be able to toggle whether or not Tile 1 (or the tile directly underneath it) is shown or omitted from the loop; this is the border tile and it might help to be able to make this column/row of tiles be a toggle as to whether the mapper wants it to show or not (if he wants it to show, DCME adds in two extra columns and two extra rows filled by the border tile at the borders of the map before looping). This might be something you want to add outside of the "map loop feature," as it might be logical to display to mappers by default what their maps are going to actually look like with the tileset they have.

Then we could make circles, squares, rectangles, ovals, and just whatever we want that looks exactly like Trench War's asteroid belt. Should be able to set a width, whether the pattern is constant from "start to finish" or varies for every block (If it is constant, chances are someone will be able to look at it and quickly detect that the "randomness" of the asteroids repeats in each block), and what tile (if any -- user specifiable) is used to keep ships of 1x1 tile size or smaller from passing through the asteroid belt to the other side. ^_^ EDIT: TW-style asteroid belt is the main purpose, but perhaps this can also be extended to "specified tile" as well. I can imagine an "asteroid belt" of wormholes, or safety zone tiles, or whatever. To specify tiles, there would be up to 3 levels: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary. In the TW-style the Primary would be the 2x2 asteroid, the Secondary the 1x1 asteroid, and nothing for the Tertiary. Special tiles do not need to have their dimensions defined, but if you are using something normal like safety tiles or regular wall tile -- you need to specify the following: Width (in tiles) Height (in tiles) Shape: Square/Circle/Oval Fill in shape? Fill in shape? Yes. Use selected tile? (if yes, it uses the tile you selected for this Primary/Secondary/Tertiary -- whichever one it is for) Fill in shape? Yes. Use selected tile? No. Which tile to use? With those, you could make an "asteroid belt" of bubbles by just using a circle shape, and varying the dimensions of Primary/Secondary/Tertiary.

So what if they use coins made of 99% silver/gold?

I'm not getting any of the "jokes" in this thread.

What stops a town community from using European currency over American currency? HMM?

Didn't one of the older versions of Catid's SSBilling2 have a command that could reconnect you to specified zone? I'm sure SSC could implement something like this.

Yo, kingtaco11, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Audrey has one of the best signatures of all time. One of the best signatures of all time!

Actually this is pretty normal and common in larger cities like New York, and technically better than USD since they are not really infected by inflation or inflatable. I wouldn't be the right person to explain or ask though.

In other words, having all zones under one instance would be the worst for reliability and redundancy, as you have one single point of failure. That is, unless you clustered that instance onto multiple hosts of different locations or something.

..was probably another man.

Who's Caress? Is he man like Audrey? Oh, uh...happy valentines day? <} }3 EDIT: lol Happy valentines day, even though I don't celebrate it. EDIT: Happy birthday Swift and Dr. Brain!

I am thinking that perhaps Discretion/Subspace 2 could give this shader or special effects a try as a "wormhole replacement test". The closer you get to the wormhole, the closer the wormhole gets on the Z-axis..until you get entirely swallowed up and the effects go in reverse as you are warped. Could be two different "graphics qualities": normal and high. Normal uses images like Continuum. High uses shaders, 3D models, 3D lights, etc.

Hai, don't worry. I don't even have any friends. <_<

The SSCV network (also BlueT) is now officially connected to the central billing network with four zones. You may find the network and its zones by downloading a fresh list from the directory servers in the "Zones" button of Continuum.

Do bots have JavaScript enabled? Google Analytics will only work when JavaScript is enabled, otherwise the user is not counted. I would think that bots normally have JavaScript disabled since JavaScript really has little to nothing to do with their purpose (plus it would be an additional resource to their hosts). Don't know, just a thought.

8-day Comparison Before = 1/25 - 2/2 After = 2/3 - 2/11 Before is when we had the image advertisements running. After is when we the entire campaign is paused and not running. Though this is really how I feel about the incident: Not like I did it on purpose.
