I suggested this idea on your other threads >.< Sites like fileplanet and these game host sites have free games on there... ask them what kind of deals they work out with these games to get them on there free in the first place, then figure out which proposition works best for us. This still has to be handled like a business deal and if you have no business negotiation experience or contract negotiation skills, i suggest you have us appoint someone to be a POINT PERSON for something like this that would massively impact the community.

Priitk will never agree to commercializing the client so give up now. It's not the right direction to be going in. Change your direction. Find places that will host continuum for free and state as part of your negotiations some arguement that it will bring revenue to them through ads or downloads to similar games etc etc etc.

Essentially what this boils down to is you will have to do some negotiating. If you can get it hosted on any of those sites free of charge by some fancy negotiating skills, I don't think you will have to get Priitk or BDE involved at all. I could be wrong but I have a feeling the only way this is going to get anywhere is if you negotiate a deal with any of these sites to make it free of charge to download. Maybe offer it free to premium members of their site, or have our community make some kind of monetary offer to them. The hardest part about negotiating something like this is we have no chips on our side of the table, you will have to convince them that they will gain something from hosting it free. That will involved being very clever. If you are not clever.. just give up now.

If you can find a way to do all of this legally I would be all for it, aside from charging new players $5.00 but then again I don't really care about that. If anything its just 5 bucks and then they could realize that they can download it for free again in the future, gaining SS addicts at whatever cost is still a good thing. I would suggest finding someone on here with a legal mind and someone else on here with a knack for advertising negotiations and hosting negotiations and the like and combining those minds with the council in terms of creating propositions for these. Whatever is proposed it needs to be legal, or it won't work. Free is also almost necessity, even if by free it means donations to the cause from those of us who have been here for eons, in order to fuel a second coming. I've been waiting for someone to find a legal, efficient way of doing this for years now, and no one has yet. Work on it.

How long does the failed password lockout last. I didn't even enter an incorrect password. I was creating aliases (a lot of them fairly quickly) and it's locked me out (seemingly by IP) and I can't log into ANY frickin aliases now. IT SAYS TRY BACK IN SEVERAL HOURS!!! What the fuck? Why does it lock out for several hours thats ridiculous. It doesn't even give a time. Is that not the most assanine lockout system ever? I'm a zone sysop I can't be bothered with such BS

Theres a pretty good 3d view of a terrier on the subspace manual. Maybe you can use that as reference. That's probably a very rough version but that doesnt look like the original very much to be honest... Still good job all around I think.
-
I think the fact that testtube posted makes it need to happen.
-
I've never owned a physical copy of SS but I'm willing to bet the owners manual may have had some kind of garbage storyline in it lol.
-
A taste? Really you had to be there I think. Most of SS history gets lost with the players that were there and leave. It's rare to find someone who was around for Sniper or even early Subspace nowadays. I remember not 6-7 years ago they were still fairly abundant however. Now I suppose a vet is anyone who remembers the Continuum client release, back in 2001 that was certainly not the case

I think we would all probably beat you up and steal your segway.
-
Take witchie off that list immediately

Anyone I would want to hear from has quit SS.

If you have files like that you should send them to PoLiX since he runs the ssonline site.

Or you can learn to aim. -
If you're looking for brand I personally trust ASUS and Toshiba. HP is good too but more mainstream. The others load the laptops up with a bunch of shit software and fill em with lowgrade hardware.
