We use to have that... But then people began abusing it. 3.0 has more controls on it, so will re-add a lot of stuff when I update that. Should be in the next week or so according to them.

So while I've been waiting on IPB 3.0 I decided to help out MG and am running a small tourney for them. If you play or played mg, join up, I may end up making this cash prized... Depends on how many sign up and how popular. http://metalgearctf.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11761

Ditto, just not in a while since everyone got Cable... I dunno how he didn't dc even... Suddenly he had like 4 lines of text, and was back. It was odd... normally people kicked long before that, so subgamed bugged somehow.

Some zones work, others don't; neither does zone list update
PoLiX replied to deadonarrival's topic in Technical Support
try clicking Zones then download and see if it updates ports and IPs for you. -
read the sig.

make sure you re-install/update your video card drivers after getting a new monitor. Sometimes the drivers for your card don't right away realize the settings/limitations of your monitor, and installing or updating monitor drivers doesn't always fix it. I typically just download latest drivers, as it is just a reason to/reminder, and fixes it. I have had this issue many times before with LCD monitors in the past with many games, dunno why.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but downloading of a virus through continuum I have NEVER heard of. If you got this, you are the 1st person ever in all the years this forum has been around (~7yrs / 1yr short of the life of the continuum client itself). So really, I'd have to say you were mistaken where this virus came from. Though Continuum itself, and some its files will show up on Virus scanners as a Virus, due to the way it is packed, a lot of viruses and spyware programs are packed the same way. It just keeps them from being modified/mutated, or someone else taking credit. In our case it keeps it from people being able to cheat easily or modify their client to do harm or putting a modified harmful one out. Also helps keep the protocol secure so no variation in the server itself can be made to send files without the clients knowledge, which in that case, has to be acted upon by the client. Bots are on the servers, yes. But bots again cannot send files. Continuum supports no file sending to clients. That was all removed years ago when we still used the SubSpace client. Now if your are still so worried about this, just tell him to not play on any servers without the "SSC" prefix (IE: SSCU or SSCC) or not on "SSA", "BlueT", or "PSS". The "SSC" zones are on secure professionally hosted servers, and are specially voted on/qualified to be connected to the "SSC" player database. The SSA server is SSCA's zones not on the SSC biller, through the fact they have not met player base requirements, and BlueT and PSS are smaller servers, but are hosted by 2 trusted players. Most other zones are on people's computers, or smaller servers I have yet to hear of personally, though some are secure, not all can be known. Again, Players cannot harm your client. They can crash servers, or go around bans with effort, but it has no effect on you or your computer. Google ANY game and the word "cheaters" or even better, Google many popular games and "Hacking" or "Viruses" or anything of that nature. Hell, do it on any program you use to connect to the internet. The browser you are using to read this is less secure than our little game. We're off most anyone who knows what they are doing's radar, and we have made many efforts to keep cheating out. Most cheating is done with universal programs that are used on all games. It just speeds up your CPU clock, modifies your memory or registry, etc. Again, I have never heard of ANYONE getting a virus through Continuum, and I have ran these forums since their birth and admined the ones before we combined as SSForum. So odds are as I said, your scanner thought a Continuum file was a virus when it was not (has happened many times with new versions of our game and we get virus scanners to fix that normally pretty quickly), or a file was downloaded from a website with a virus and extracted into the continuum folder. There was some of this once happening, you just never download anything someone you don't know tells you. This is true of anything he uses on the internet, or any website he visits. The official Zone/Game sites check all their files, and most just post the same files everyone else has on the major websites. So really, beyond players posting links to stupid crap, I haven't seen a link to a virus or a cheat in quite a few years now. But again, just don't visit anything from anyone you don't regularly play with or talk to or trust. Internet 1.0 right there. Hope this answers all yours, and anyone in the future's questions.

Working 10hrs overtime saturday. Nice timing too, cause I just got my $2.55 raise. Sunday having a BBQ though, you should come out to that. Might be some friends, family, dunno yet. Just kind of planning it now since the weekend is going to be nice and near 70. But I'll letcha know what is up there. McClouds was a good time though. Forgot why I use to go out there all the time, haha. And thanks for all the Happy B-days... but I did beat ya mofos
-
Beat all you fuckers to it, HAHAHA. Well, not for 2 more hrs Me/PST, but eh. Beat the EST guys.
-
can also use home or end
-
ah, you cleaned it up again. Looks better.
-
Don't worry. There are 2 plans in the works to boost population. Funny enough, this was one of them, and a bot beat us to it. But eh, not on as big of a population as we plan to reach.
-
Currently IPB 3.0 beta has stopped every bot in its tracks that they have thrown at it. The issue, the current release version does not. So I think this will be the next release/fix, upgrading the registration spam control to the same standard as 3.0.

Users kicked out of zone and not able to re-enter?
PoLiX replied to TerminatioN's topic in Technical Support
No, they're not. Well, recycle atleast. I went over a lot of ideas the other night with Sketter, and told him to PM freakmonger here on SSF. Anything that could be done from the zone's side has been. So must be something with Subgame itself, or something in the firewall on that port. Though the fact Subgame is thinking it is being packet flooded when it is not is also interesting. I'd try a fresh subgame install and see where it goes. -
Somehow, it'd seem SSF was one of the many who got connected into this. Googleing it, have found some phpBB boards along with IPB boards we're effected. IPB Update Note from Admin CP: So seems they are trying to fix it. Expect MANY more pms from MANY more forums over the next few days. Here at SSF, the name used was: mignulikz

The hardest part of it is that the majority of the population plays on servers ran by Priit. So it'd be hard to do it quietly, and what is not to say once he realizes it, things fall apart. This is why it was discussed if it we're to be done, the current db is needed. Though lots of efforts have been / are being made towards that. Talk to me on msn and i'll discuss more on that. There was a time SSCX had everything ready to ditch SSC, but that never fully happened. I think the best/only way to do it is either fully restart (chaos, though happened before), or get/pull data from the current db. If you have a way to do this, then ok. But until then, we're gonna have some issues. And on the source code. For those who have tried unpacking continuum and sniffing around. Maybe check out KaZaA's backend or Skype sometime. Might find some interesting things. We're never gonna get the source code. That is 100% outta the question, sorry.

The getting of scores access is a pain in the butt, but GS may finally be able to get it now for me and his project. I do have the Schema for the scores table, and really, it is as you'd expect it to be. No doubt the rest of the biller db is the same, but that's another situation.

[19:57] ALEX: Oooo, I like You've got me and Ghost's approval on the design honestly. Until I start actually scripting, adding content, etc. I won't really know if there is something limiting/annoying on it. But the overall layout is exactly what I asked for. The design is different colors wise than what I asked for, but you made it work, and it looks so well I'd hate to have it changed. I like it honestly. The star background in the menu is cliche of newb websites, but I hate how it scares everyone away from doing that just cause of it. I like how it fits in with the theme on this one. A SubSpace website. My opinion right now.

Riistar, added. Thanks for pointing that out. This is why i was hoping more sites would add it. Just cause I got it bug free on SSF, SSDL, and HS finally, doesn't mean it is 100% bug free.
