  1. although i don't think one would say that sound can get red-shifted... the point is the same though.
  2. it means, "you have a nice smile, chicken"
  3. Smarties Sort of like griefing, but on the forums, basically hijacking every topic he posts in to either personally insult someone or state blatant contradictions, usually both. Some of the things he mentions are pretty advanced topics, so I think its actually someone knowledgeable seeing how much he can get away with. I don't think I see a single attempt at a constructive post: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?act=Searc...sult_type=posts
  4. you are speaking completely out of your !@#$%^&* smarties. please stop.
  5. you're right, although I meant the observable universe... certainly you don't expect that just beyond what we can see in the universe is a wall of stars making going beyond them impossible. Also, if the volume is infinite (and the m!@#$%^&* is finite), the average density of the universe becomes zero, again, ruling out your theory that we can't avoid all the black holes that will get in our path. So with your theory that volume is infinite, the universe is very empty.

  7. have you read some of the stuff in the bible? if it helps people get through their day what difference does it make?
  8. space is mostly empty... i don't think dodging black holes would be the issue
  9. An atheist doesn't believe in God or any other supreme being... although you're right in that there's nothing that can disprove God's existence. Let's examine a similar argument with a metaphor: say I tell you I have a time machine. Your reaction is "bull!@#$%^&*, prove it". I don't offer any proof. Now which do you believe: 1) I have a time machine (religions), 2) I don't have a time machine (atheists) or 3) it can not be known whether I have a time machine or not (agnostic). Now of course the problem is the accuracy of the metaphor, and some may argue that there's evidence of God all around us. This is fine, although I personally think it's a bit of a stretch (isn't that what the whole faith thing's about anyway?). "Atheists believe that they are the most moral of religions." "Atheists who believe wisdom stems from survival" "Atheists do have a myth towards the end of the world." "they believe that any other person who believes in a divine being is an outdated fool" "They also have their creation myth" "Atheists [...] believe [...] there is no authority on Earth greater than that of the majority of the populace" No! the only thing that defines an atheist is a disbelief in supreme beings. Anything else is a generalization along the lines of, "Christians are all church-going do-gooders." "For instance, Stalin, an atheist, rounded up any non-atheist in the USSR and put them in death camps." Yawn, this not how logical arguments work. Didn't the crusades kill millions of people? You can find people with every belief system that have committed atrocities. While its true that atheism doesn't require any morality, it doesn't require a lack of it either.
  10. there is no edge... space itself is actually expanding... like say you put two dots on a balloon and blow it up... it looks like the dots are moving apart from each other, but actually the surface they're on is what's expanding. Sort of like that, but in three dimensions. Since space is expanding faster than the speed of light (ever wonder why things can be over 20 billion light years away when the age of the universe is less than 14 billion years?), we have no hope of catching up the the "edge". Even if the expansion of space slows down and reverses, which looks doubtful, it would sort of suck us back into the center. http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/kid...tml&edu=mid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_crunch this topic seems a bit hijacked, but yeah, light is pretty mysterious
  11. no it plays .wav files too.. and displays .bmp files as well as .bm2, png too
  12. ya'll are whack, the newest ASSS, 1.4.4 works exclusively with 0.40 I'm not sure what his question is... you can download the newest version of continuum on subspacedownloads.com
  13. if your wav file is bad it's never going to work. Try making a simple wav using windows' built in sound recorder program, and save it as the simplest type of wav, and see if you can get that to work. If not... shrug, attach the wav here. please try it yourself first though.
  14. Alice has a good point, this country was founded on christianity and that's all about caring for your neighbor and such. By banning that, aren't we really banning being nice to other people?
  15. He was being a !@#$%^&*bag, but the thing that separates a free society from others is that we allow people to speak their mind ESPECIALLY if they don't agree with us (its not hard to allow people free speech if what they say agrees with what you think). Even though you're right, it's not like he was being silenced at his registered protest so legally they they didn't do anything wrong. I just hope that the reason they cut him off and removed him because he was going over his time limit or not letting Kerry answer and NOT that they didn't want to answer his questions or hear what he said (the former seems like the case).
  16. he figured out the conspiracy and gets suppressed by the state.... open and shut case: don't question your government
  17. crap, that's supposed to be sizeof(buf)... heh, well I guess bugs can happen in the simplest of programs.
  18. The man page says snprintf is always supposed to be null terminiated... but the windows version doesn't live up the the specification. You're right about the -1 though, so it should be: _snprintf(buf, sizeof(buf), "%i", num); buf[sizeof(buf)] = 0; whereas accoding to the specification you should just be able to do: _snprintf(buf, sizeof(buf), "%i", num); to see the error run this program: #include <stdio.h> int main() { const char* !@#$%^&*o = "!@#$%^&*o"; char buf[5]; _snprintf(buf, sizeof(!@#$%^&*o), "%s",!@#$%^&*o); //buf[ sizeof(!@#$%^&*o)] = 0; printf("%i: '%s'\n",sizeof(!@#$%^&*o),buf); return 0; } ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- try this witchie (but sampacio is right about the more efficient way): int temp = t->Credit - Credsadded; char cred1[10]; _snprintf(cred1, sizeof(cred1) - 1, "%i", temp); for (int c = 0; cred1[c]; ++c) cred1[c] -= '0'; int temp2 = t->Credit; char cred2[10]; _snprintf(cred2, sizeof(cred2) - 1, "%i", temp2); int len = (int)strlen(cred2); for (int d = 0; cred2[d]; ++d) cred2[d] -= '0'; for (int i=0; i<len; i++) { int t = i+20; sendPrivate(p, ".*objoff "+(String)t+(String)cred1[i]); sendPrivate(p, ".*objon " +(String)t+(String)cred2[i]); }
  19. v1.11: Auto detects working directory so you can !@#$%^&*ociate .lvl types with CLT (change by Cerium)

    sourceforge

    The repository is supposed to work with svn (TortoiseSVN uses svn). I have confirmed the repository works with the command line version of svn. I suspect you're using the wrong url. Are you using https://ss-discretion.svn.sourceforge.net/s...t/ss-discretion ?
  24. My turn! char buf[10]; int num = 12456; _snprintf(buf, sizeof(buf) - 1, "%i", num); buf[sizeof(buf) - 1] = 0; also, smong is right, if you don't want the ascii values you could do: char buf[10]; int num = 12456; _snprintf(buf, sizeof(buf) - 1, "%i", num); buf[sizeof(buf) - 1] = 0; for (int c = 0; buf[c]; ++c) buf[c] -= '0';
  25. the zip file is only 22 bytes and is empty!
