Give me a quote that isn't along the lines of, "it's common sense that a male and a female raises better children" or "gays have more STDs and AIDS!!!! not HIV but full blown AIDS!". something along the lines of "we took 50 gay couples raising children and 50 straight couples and the children of the gay pplz were 25% more likely to go to prison" would shut me up. also, the pdf is not a copy of a report done somewhere else simply hosted on a catholic site, it's actually done by the marriage law project (it's written in the pdf). Also 3/5 of the authors worked for the marriage law project (from the about the authors section).

3d graphics are definitely possible, but not currently supported. I think SDL, which is what I'm using, supports opengl on surfaces although i've never used it. I'd say I'm probably at 65% done in terms of raw time required, but again, I have little time to work on it lately so not much progress past that

The PDF was constructed by the Marriage Law Project (first page), which a quick google search reveals is done by the Catholic University of America. mm, I think there's a misunderstanding here. Even if we assume the evidence is inconclusive on both sides, that does not support your statement. Even if the studies were conclusive in saying that same-sex parenting is terrible, that does not imply that multi-sex parenting is good ("a male and female presence in the home is greatly beneficial to a child's development"). Yes I agree here. We need independent sources, or, at least, less biased ones. worker bees don't produce offspring, yet they handle many of the offspring related tasks such as moving eggs around and feeding larvae.

yeah, I'm alive but grad school is kicking my !@#$%^&* lately. I'll probably have at least some time over christmas to get another release out. currently I was adding the ability for the server to send custom settings to the client, only to realize that lots of things the server should be able to modify, such as wormhole strengths or ship images, can not be modified. It's a small change to fix theses but there's a few dozen of these sorts of settings... so yeah, christmas.

i'm talking to the one person who posted any sources, although i'll try to be a bit more verbose in the future about who i'm responding to.
-
True, what's your point? read the fricken quote right above what I said if you don't know what the point was. also, all of those sources you posted are Christian websites... which I claim are biased (if homosexuality is a sin they would NEVER post a study saying homos do better at raising kids). It's actually kinda weird that they are responses to other studies showing that homosexuals actually do a better job at raising kids (I didn't know that). Also, the reason one side is asked to provide evidence is that the policy change is banning homos from adopting. Usually if you want to cause change you need to provide the evidence for it, as change of the sake of change doesn't usually fly.

Yeah, but comparing what happens to divorced parents is not necessarily the same as what happens with homosexual parents. A child with homosexual parents still has two parents.
-
as a side point, what's wrong with spanish people wanted to be patriotic? America doesn't have a national language; I don't see anything wrong with people not learning English if they don't want to. Sure it'll set them back, but they know that.
-
With divorced parents, they often compete for who can take care of the kids and might even use the kids to get back at the other parent. Also, they have two parents but are only able to be with one at a time (the two parents don't live together anymore). Also, as you mentioned, there is a missing role (mother or father) that was there before the parents got divorced. How much do each of these contribute to the development of children is not something we can debate to settle; you have to actually conduct research studies. If one is not willing to find the sources for the statements one makes, then he or she is saying very little. Studies show that homosexual parents are better than heterosexual ones. Studies show that drinking coffee as a kid makes you taller. Studies show that people prefer lemons to apples. Unless I tell you what studies I'm talking about I'm not really saying anything at all, and in fact, could even be making things up (although probably based on possibly flawed intuition).
-
what studies?

um... the content is pretty much the same in all countries also, teachers have little incentive to go above and beyond, as they can't get paid more if they do exceptionally. In a regular job, if you do well you get a bonus or raise. I don't side with the conservatives often, but it seems like a no-brainer here.

your post can be "used and understood" by idiots to commit genocide too. we shouldn't throw away the bible for this reason
-
you gotta child unattended or they'll never learn to be independent. but yeah, that sort of sucks for the parent. random crime not really anything they could do. My guess is some pedo's got her in his house... no sense in killing her until she gets to like 6. !@#$%^&*, you could probably convince a four year old that you ARE her father and keep her around for longer.
-
But yeah, you're right the gays get to go to !@#$%^&* too! (and perhaps get further tormented by the people who killed them?) also, why can't i edit my post? lame

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!" ~The Bible jesus is pretty clear that the old punishment system (stoning adulterers) from the old testament is a load of crap. Thus, though extension, we are to think that killing homos as in the old testament is also a load of crap. thus, Christians who attack or kill homoASSS go to !@#$%^&* (at least from a Catholic perspective; protestants seem to believe that it doesn't matter at all what you do on earth in terms of going to heaven, but I've ranted on that enough in other topics).
-
it's logically fine, just unpleasant and not really useful (if you start thinking choices are made for you then you stop making choices and thus, do nothing). so TJ, if God foresaw the Jews killing Jesus, and it was meant to happen this way (your words), then did the Jews kill Jesus out of their own free will? After all, God is all-knowing, so his plan or vision was going to happen 100% right? It seems like at least some Jews would have had to kill Jesus and thus go to !@#$%^&*, in order to give the rest of us a shot at Heaven. Talk about taking one for the team.
-
no it's not. it's human to sin; why else would god "destroy" anyone?
-
if the jews didn't kill jesus he could never resurrect and we'd all be going to !@#$%^&* for not believing in da resurrection. discuss.
-
monkey on the lam! i miss steven ;(
-
it'd make sense if killing jesus was a lifestyle. it's the same way that you can love your parents but disagree with some of their choices.
-
where are these from; i don't believe

so using biofuels like corn actually requires putting more energy in (planting, watering, harveting, converting), than we get out when we burn it. The reason it's starting to become popular is that the US government is currently subsidizing it making it profitable, and that the US is one of the largest corn growers in the world (also it works reasonably well with the existing technology). But in the big picture, we need a net gain in energy in the technology that will replace oil.
-
energy from the tides doesn't come from the sun. also if you go anywhere on earth and drill a mile down it's very hot. tap this energy with a stirling engine and you have permanent energy supply (at least until the earth's core runs out of heat). Now the problem is just drilling technology, which seems a lot easier to overcome. Plus, since you can do this anywhere on earth, there's not going to be one area with the entire supply (like the middle east has lots of oil).

you're right wong, ignorance happens on both sides.

cause according to his belief system it's wrong/sinful?
