Pic can correct me on this, but I believe there's going to be a game at 3:00PM CDT on Saturday.
-
I didn't say it was right, but I was just giving a general explanation of why it was occuring at the moment. I don't know what Nerusai's general tendencies are since I rarely see him play.
-
Well, I'm not sure if Neru understands why it's bad, but today was just to piss of DOODER, I think.
-
I was mostly referring to the possibilty of using the smod-enabled profile on a non-SSC server specifically designed to steal passwords. Actually, I have no clue whether that's even possible, but I'm just speaking hypothetically: there really is no risk at all as long as you're on SSC servers.
-
The only problem was the modules weren't there yet and they wouldn't been a great help. The other problem was when I specced to moderate for a second, then unspecced just after a $28k goal is scored on my team. Oh well.
-
Yes, but generally aren't staff passwords used for a group of staff? So if someone got ahold of your staff password, then wouldn't they be able to attack your zone with mod or higher powers? Anyway, no big deal.
-
Isn't it a bit risky to throw on your SMod password on your main account anyway? Wouldn't you create a different profile that had it when in that other zone and one that didn't have it for being anywhere else? As for if this is ASSS related, my guess is that it forwards the whole password to the biller, and subgame probably cuts off the smod password before sending it to the biller. I have no idea if this is actually the case, though.

I hate to use such an immature line, but "looks like I win." Oh, and I'm glad that this is being officially enforced now. Good job.
-
Haha, Mantis, aren't you the one who charged me 10k for something I didn't ask you to do? Looks like I've got limited internet here, the blasted hotel was all "sì, abbiamo Internet" which translated from Italian means "we have a phone line, good luck getting an access number/account." But I guess I shouldn't complain that I have means at all of getting online...too bad though that I'm seven hours ahead of most of you people, won't get a chance to play with the masses anymore.
-
Well, although it's a tried cliché, I thought I should make my own "going away" topic. I'm not leaving HS permanently, sorry to say. I'm going to Italy for 2 weeks. I may or may not get a chance to post here or play HS. This trip may or may not delay some of the new stuff for the starfox arena. But hey, it's still going to be awesome when it's all done, I'm sure you can wait. Peace out, guys. Have fun now that I'm not there to yap at you all the time anymore. (side note: not sure whether to put this in main HS or TT, since there's about half of these topics in one and half in the other.)

I can only bare to watch the hypertunnels if I'm actually flying the ship and not spectating someone.

Last I checked, sig figs were an aspect of chemistry, not the metric system... One inch is more accurately 2.54 cm, which makes me 178cm tall.
-
Metric owns imperial.

As to your suggestions: Priv. freqs are needed for flagging. Ball time being lowered would increase the amount of skillless and lame steals. Wider pick up would increase the amount of lame goal-tending (lame because of repels that can hit from the opposite sector, mostly.) !@#$%^&*uming bomb proximity tiles is 1, you cannot reduce it without denying level 1 bombs any prox at all, which is unfortunate.
-
!@#$%^&*uming that's the C rand(), DAV_SPELLING_ERRORS seems to be larger than an unsigned int..
-
*prediction: sudden movement to TT or deletion.*
-
This is why there should be more public frequencies by default, so that 0 and 1 don't fill up to 13 people each like they have in the past.
-
Well, I didn't know if it was possible. Bak: Your idea for spreading the flags out is intriguing. Also, taking the ball off the radar would make it harder to score a goal, but if you have to search the entire map for it, then it's probably not going to be worth even having a ball.
-
Well, it's generally noted that balling is generally a bit more unbalanced in terms of rewards. As I said in a topic in HS-dev, manipulating the formula to be something like inverse-quadratic might be beneficial to fix this problem. However, now that there aren't people who can buy hundreds and bricks of shields, people will be trying even harder to earn that money, most likely. As for your note about basing the ball...people shouldn't be forced to play the flag game just because some frequency puts the ball in their base. To me, it makes the game tons less fun, and many people (especially now) are unable to retrieve a ball that is based, against any substantial opponent anyway. In my opinion, then, fixing goal rewards is probably the best way to go, possibly make FlagReward higher to encourage more flagging with huge populations.
-
Anyway, now that the reset is said and done (though sooner than I would have guessed), it is quite clear that goal formula needs modification such that instead of a quadratic equation, you have something more like a square-root function, so that with higher and higher populations, the goal rewards will increase only slightly. I'm fairly certain this is only possible by modifying the soccer module, if it's possbile at out. Anyway, if the soccer rewards were fixed like that, it would make flagging more popular in general, without making balling completely worthless. In my opinion, of course. As for prox, it seems annoying to have l3 bombs have so much prox, but there's no avoiding it without screwing over lower level bombs out of having any prox at all. Prox for level 3 bombs and prox for level 1 bombs costs the same, also, unfortunately.
-
Who me? Read what? :\
-
If the prox setting is anymore than 2, it should be reduced, because $5k for 20 deaths DOES make javs cheap with an overload on prox. Thor-storm is balanced because even though it is annoying to have an area bombed to oblivion constantly, the thor-stormer is unprotected, can't buy shields, so you just go in with a super spider or such to solve your problem. On a technical note: there is one proximity setting for all bombs. Thors count as level 4 proximity bombs when determining area-of-effect and proximity. If the prox of some ships could be decreased while others remained the same, that might be good, but it just can't happen. In my opinion, bouncing bomb damage percentage needs to be reduced from whatever it is to 1000.
