  2. I think new items are always a welcome addition, given that they're balanced. I do think this post is pointless though, since there's always room for improvement, and we don't need a post to tell us that.
  3. in German, please
  4. Organic Chemistry makes me want to puke no seriously... I just worked with 10 molar butyric acid the other day; the whole room smelled like a septic tank stuffed with rotting corpses
  5. Steigerwald has fixed his server, restored his OS, and has backup files, and is currently working on setting up the actual ASSS zone.
  6. I for one agree. I think the Shark needs anything it can get to make it more of a scout.
  7. I agree with Base 3 being overused. I'll have to switch up some of the other bases some time, and if the players really like particular base(s), they can stay.
  8. Bomook

    reboot

    Awesome! Thanks for everything, Steig
  9. What! I am there!
  10. It's not possible to have new different looking ships, without removing some of the old ones.
  11. back in the Subspace Days, the Nightwasp was originally a ship graphic that replaced that of the player who had the most points in the arena (similar to the Subspace Shield). Throughout most of Hyperspace's history (Area 2 to 6 [?], I'm not really clear on this) the Nightwasp graphic replaced the Spider's. The infiltrator was similar to a Summoner, but allowed you to attach to an enemy lancaster. This obviously game breaking, but I think it could be balanced if it allowed you only to "attach" (or teleport to the position of) to enemy non-lanc ships, losing all energy in the process. I think this should be a shark-exclusive item, making it something of a scout/infiltration ship.
  12. Personally, I give the flags back to the freq they were stolen from by warping the thief back into the base from which it was stolen. I did this a few times when we were on SSI with the spec glitch . But I do agree that ideally, we should automate things as to not need mods to have to watch over them. I still consider the summoner thing to be rather low on the list of priorities though, but the suggestion does have merit.
  13. Sometimes the power of rocket lag overcomes the power of repels That fact aside, brickwarping encourages rep and burst whoring, something that takes away all the skill and fun involved and basing, and something that we should desperately be trying to discourage.
  14. I think summoner is fine for the most part. Although, if anything, I think it should take up a utility slot, and cost a lot lot more money. Being able to attach to your anchor with no energy cost gives you a very significant advantage over a team who cannot. The griefing thing is a possible scenario, but currently, I've never seen it happen. If a player on a public freq does not like a lanc who keeps summoning his teammates, then he has the option to switch to another public freq (or a private one). If the summoner keeps har!@#$%^&*ing them, then staff can take action, as it will qualify under "lame" stuff. I don't think the HT portals are really a problem. One problem that does exist, however, is run-winning in the TW hub. It's a blatant exploit of the TW hub, and it's almost impossible to catch a run winner. That $1 million invested in the TW p!@#$%^&* is intended as a money sink, not as a means to make flagging both boring and unplayable for people who don't also have a TW pass I think the TW hub should automatically be disabled for players who currently control all the flags (as in the music's playing and their frequency owns all the flags). Another solution (if possible) is to pause the timer whenever a player is inside either the TW hub or the hypertunnels. And 2D, no one should be calling you a whiner. Complaints are always welcome as they improve the zone, and are a positive influence regardless how insignificant. I personally welcome all complaints and suggestions, even if I don't agree with them. As for whining, I would consider it to be more like "ZOMG WEASEL IS BORKED NOOB MODS!!1!1!one!1shift+one", pouting about a problem without adding any helpful imput.
  15. This was very true in Area5 before the item whoring, when your bullets and bombs (i.e. weapons that are supposed to be used for killing) killed the opposing player, but it no longer applies. People constantly rocket forward in bases just so that they can lay bricks or brickwarp opponents. The only way to kill the 4 people rocketing at your lanc is to !@#$%^&* bursts yourself, and so the cycle repeats. lol I have nothing against the BrickWarp squad. I supported the fixing of the lag coma problem, didn't I? and I have nothing against my squad Siaon asked me like 500 times to join Brickwarp when he started it, and I actually would have joined too, were I not already in another squad. It's just the principle of switching squads that I was not willing to do. It's like freq hopping
  16. I completely agree with you. I see brickwarping as an exploit. It wasn't an issue in SVS because bricks were rare and hard to come by, so if one person got brickwarped, big whoop. But in HS, where you're prized a brick with every death, in a base (especially if the victim had another life with antideath) a brick counts as instantly killing him twice, something much more effective than weapons, and that is why people use it. Even disregarding AD, bring able to brickwarp people in a base such as solo attackers or the enemy capship is way too cheap. I remember up until area5, I could occasionally solo a base if the defenders weren't too careful. Now that's impossible because they'll either block you, or most likely, BW you before you can do anything. Attacking even a lightly defended base absolutely requires a lancaster because you can't do anything solo, which makes both attacking and defending almost impossible (whereas long ago, it actually was possible). Originally, I suggested making it so that brick tiles simply will not drop if they would normally drop over an enemy player, although I'm not sure if this is possible. I think this is the best solution. At the very least though, I think when someone respawns with antideath, they should respawn with no items. As if antideath wasn't already game breaking in basing, currently all it does is promote more suiciding and item whoring during flag games, something that we should desperately be trying to curb. Personally, I still think that removing bricks probably would not be a good solution, as it would be removing a big part of the game.
  17. Looks intense. I do seem to vaguely remember fractionized. That was back when bombs were useless, and terriers were more maneuverable, unattachable capships though I remember Kanis being insane with a warbird back then too, although I don't think he was that good
  18. He was being sarcastic, DBE or was he... but regardless, I still think the weasel should have permanent *UFO!
  19. Sorry, didn't mean to. That was probably during the time I was still gone. haha I could I forget? I was on that squad for like a good 2 years I played Ragnarok Online with him for a while after he stopped playing Continuum, but he went AWOL from that as well, about 2 years ago.
  20. Folding is even cheaper! At any location inside of a sector (except in close proximity to a base) you type !(sector) to instantly teleport to a random location in the destination sector, losing all your energy in the process. You leave a temporary space fold, so anyone traveling to where you were when you jumped will also move through the fold, without the energy penalty. There was a third method of transportation, which is very similar to what we currently have, in which you have to physically fly through the hypertunnels.
  21. I'm not sure why someone would be willing to get banned just for some chump change now; but who knows, those that are desperate enough to hack someone else's account in the first place probably would hack indiscriminantly for any few hundred HS bucks they can get.
  22. I think what DBE meant was that those people have been hacked.
  23. Cool! New squads are definitely always welcome
